Would your opinion of the series change if they took it into M-rated territory?

I mean...this is a series about bladed weapon battles, some bloodshed should be expected but they never crossed that line.

Is it for the best?
 
I think it's best when they keep it that way. Out of tradition, Soul Calibur has enough qualities it doesn't need violence.
Also when it comes to in game violence i don't think Namdai could do it better than NRS.
MK even did it into the Daily Show for it's violence.
SC should stick to what it's good at, like game mechanics and cool light effects.

Remember when MK tried to do 3D gaming like tekken and SC and failed miserably?
They dumped what made the franchise great, and couldn't beat tekken/SC in their own terrain.
Same would happen to SC i guess when they tried to be bloody like MK.

He may need to become stylistically less childish bullshit and come back to the golden SC1 age, but blood? Seriously?

Do not want it turn into some splatter bullshit MK style. Stylistically MK is one of the ugliest thing of BeU universe,fuck that.
 
If SC became an M-rated game I'm sure that it would lose many potential players. I was young when I first started playing and if it was M-rated than I know that my grandparents wouldn't have gotten it. I think the same goes for SC5. I agree with what most people said on here. It's traditional and no bloodshed despite being a weapon based fighter is its own trademark in a way.
 
Well...I think SC is almost a borderline M series, already. It's already full of stabbin' and slicin' as it is; not to mention all the "fully clothed" women in this series [I'm lookin' at you, Ivy]. Addin' blood and body damage would certainly make the game feel somewhat more mature, but not much because a lot of the moves in the game already look kinda gruesome. So I don't think it's really needed in this series. On the other hand, addin' more nudity to the series would make the "parents" and the ESRB go crazy.

But that lack of blood and super violence is what has let me enjoy playing this game with my kids! I wouldnt let my son play MK till he was like 10.
