SCV Tokyo Game Show/GAMEfest Video Archive

Ewwww, the game seems noticeably slower than the E3 Demo build. So disappointing. At least it still seems slightly faster than 4...

Is the Mortal Kombat announcer a contract worker?

Looks like the player down receives full bar on match point.

I like how CE has been implemented. No elaborate cutscenes, please. Make them quick, to the point and cool looking. This is a fighting game, the attacks aren't supposed to draw me out of the experience (Ultras in SF4 i.e.). Also, they don't take 40 - 50% of your fucking life. Good shit.

Watching those Videos is a painful experience... I watched Siegf vs Maxi and I almost cry of sadness... SoulCalibur is defense and evasion... these people keep those attacks exchange that is common for other games...

I can't wait for the France's players test the Game... maybe we can have a real expertise wise hands on review. Ah and like I said before this game will be ready for the last week of march... pre order on December/January.

Bad news: Viola's magic purple ball-thingy looks like it has some projectile properties, and we all know how well those worked in SC4 -_-

Good news: She only has one. Hopefully she only has a few moves where she throws it around at a long range; and that they'll be very situational, unsafe, and/or require meter.

I think the general consensus is that projectiles in Soul Calibur 4 were implemented poorly and did not fit into the game's concept very well.

But for the sake of being positive, hopefully Project Soul learned from any mistakes and is making them more viable and less annoying.

Probably the same thing that happens when you GI the Apprentice's force wave or lightning

Well the thing is, she can throw her jewel BEHIND her opponent. I'm not sure how you could guard/GI/avoid it without stepping/8wr'ing to reposition yourself.

I hope the resurrection of Algol in SCV; he is a very manly character, with cool design and the only problem about him was the bubble spam. As they do with Hilde, nerfing here and changing there, they could do it in Algol's case; His capacity to change their arms and use it as blades is very creative...

They could also use past bosses like EdgeMaster, Olcadan and Charade in the arcade mode... if they give to each one an unique set moves I would love that! I even could buy it as DLC. Remember my words, prepare your credit cards to preorder the game in December.

I imagine the same way you guard a move when you're back turned. Although I'd be curious to see if it spins you around when it happens.

I loled watching Mitsu VS Astaroth. The guy using Mitsu seemed to accidentally spam the block button on two occasions. Still, interesting to note that the damage output seems to be greater than SC 4's.

LOTS of counterhits. A lot. I wouldn't take too much stock in that just yet, especially since properties of individual moves are subject to change still.

I didn't see them crouch blocking at all, to touch on Thespian's point. I saw a lot of them trying to 2k and do other crouching attacks out of all that. Maybe those are situations where, in a game like SF, you could mash cr.short and get out? That would be giving them a lot of credit on the 2d front as well, I don't even need to see them play I am TELLING YOU they're not good at those games either.

I mean, when the majority of gamers see this, or read these misleading articles, what do they think about this game? That's something that has to be taken into account here. I don't think the devs and the PR guys are doing a good job of controlling how the content of their game is being viewed, in this case.

EDIT: In the video, Viola burned EX meter on a move that involved that orb and created that launch setup. But individual move properties aside, I'm not worried about "omg it's a projectile" like some people. Link in SC2 had projectiles, and they were all SUPER ass. Chester, one of the extras from SC3, had projectiles, and he was decent at best. I used a Bomberman edit to troll sometimes, but never played him seriously in a tourney.

I think it's interesting how people sometimes seem to think that Algol was the first character in SC to have projectiles, it's just not true. He was just the first GOOD character to have them. And despite that, he never won many tournaments even when he was allowed, the other top tiers like Hilde and Amy and Kilik gave him very real problems.

Babalook was right, projectiles alone weren't what made Algol broken, it was how they worked within his overall tool set, which includes his silly backstep and long range pokes. Cervy actually never had too bad of a matchup against him, but for some characters it was far worse. The bubbles were just one part of that, though.

I agree, they're terrible. But Gamespot videos in particular show the only person who tries to guard with any regularity crouch blocking.

It's the subtle things in this post, like how "WILL HE LOOK TIGHT." is posed as a statement, not a question. Well played, man, you get a like for that lol.
