Story Mode, Additional SCV Images from Famitsu

Some people may have missed this, but along with today's announcement of the four newest characters to be added to the Soulcalibur V roster, Famitsu also released details and images from the game's story mode. Also included is the first images of Patroklos wielding Soul Calibur, Tira handing Pyrrha her mother's weapon, and images from various cutscenes.

It's a fun game, just not a fighting game.

 

MANY things easely beat Twilight by far.

MOST things.

 

I'm more convinced that new Nightmare = Raphael. They have exactly the same size, same blond hair (and hairstyle we can see a bit), same piercing glance. He ingratiated himself to the Holy Roman Emperor as being a noble. (an attitude that looks like Raphael)

I wonder if the army we saw in the screenshot is Hilde's, she lost her kingdom.

For the relation Patroklos-Zwei, I understand better why they are next to each other in the Characters selection. And Viola who travels with Zwei is near Pyrrah, that's something interesting to note.

If it's a story mode like Mortal Kombat, I think that if we pick Patroklos we may meet half of the characters : Siegfried, Zwei...
And Pyrrah would meet the other half, she seems less lucky, meeting more darker characters like Tira, and she will certainly meet Viola whose role is very important in the story.
Pyrrah seems to be closer to Soul Edge, we can see her with Tira and may be manipulated by her (Tira gives to Pyrrah her mother's weapon) and meet Nightmare in future and maybe become the Soul Edge's owner.

But i'm thinking Viola would be here to save her for a mission, just as Zwei is with Patroklos on the other side. I think Viola and Zwei will be the link for Patroklos to meet her sister.

If Pyrrah meets Nightmare, then if he's Raphael, that would make sense for the Viola's big importance in the story. (She's next to Pyrrah and Raphael in the Characters menu, to me she's definitely Amy)

To me it seems that we're going to have two opposing forces, quite like in Mortal Kombat. The "good" (i.e. Soul Calibur) vs. the "evil" (i.e. Soul Edge) characters. The story wouldn't be decent if everyone just fought on his on without any interaction between characters which follow similar goals. My only hope is that it won't be cheesier than MK.

Also, I still can't grasp how beautiful Tira looks in these grabs. I'd let her manipulate me anytime.

Well I do not expect a fighting game to have a decent story to begin with, much less soul calibur. You have played soul calibur before, you know there will be many cheese tastic moments XD.

If Nightmare and Raphael are the same, why do they occupy 2 slots? And what happens if Raphael and Nightmare face each other? That'd be really confusing, but then again, the whole time lapse has made ANYTHING possible, I guess...

I don't think so, Raphael can be Nightmare. And even if it's the same person, why can't he have two different slots ? It's the same thing than Ryu and Evil Ryu in SSFIV AE. You can play both, it's the same person but they are different at same time : one is normal and the other is dark, and they have different fight styles.

As I said, why do Raphael and Nightmare have so much in common ? Same size, same blond hair, same eyes, and Nightmare pretended to be a noble to the Emperor. I don't think it's impossible.

Even then I am not so sure. The only game I played from cc2 that was not naruto, was .hack. Great exposition but I do not believe the story itself was good.

If anything though Nightmare also might know Raphael if the Count of Monte Cristo (Graf Dumas) reference is to be used perhaps this Nightmare wishes revenge against Raphael for something in the past...this would make Viola important to the story since the new nightmare would be after her possibly for revenge.

The flag Patroklos is holding is the symbol for the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph the IInd (who Nightmare is ingratiated to). Story seems to be a bit more complex this time around.

Complex it seems, but is it good? We shall see.

My best guess is that Patty and Zwei are in the same garrison/platoon/team (whatever it may be). This would cause a dual story line between these characters who do what they do for their country. However, they would have their own agenda. From what I can guess, it looks like siggy is a mentor of some sort.

Did anyone notice on the 29th picture that Patty is in a bamboo grove? This means that he is gonna fight one of the asian mainland characters in that chapter. I wonder who...

Patroklos is also 5'10" with blond hair.

I see your theory, but I hope to God it's not true. I personally feel that, if Raphael and Nightmare are one in the same, they wasted a slot where a completely new character could have been. Plus it would just be weird.

 

I felt the same, y'know that Raph is Nightmare. But just his body anyway. Maybe his soul has managed to go free and manifest itself as a physical body so he can uhh... search for Amy(Viola), I guess ^^

But those screenies of Zwei and Pat together really threw me off O.o I thought they would be sworn enemies or something but they seem to be ... friends?

 

My thought is that raph is an evil all his own. If raph was the new host, then it would be a bit more obvious would you not think? I believe that the new nightmare is either someone we have not seen yet or someone like zwei.
