SCV- isJust Guard is better than GI? is GI useless now?

I think the video makes it seem MUCH easier to do than it actually is. We didn't get to see all the time it took to make all those videos, with the failed attempts.

If JG was really easy to pull off the game would be unplayable.
well, yeah, makes sense but i dont know, practice may help you develop some serious skills with it jaja scV is ofialy 3rd strike 3d calibur.
I have the game and believe me, JG is HARD!!
wow, man I WANNA PLAY ALREADY lol sorry for caps i just wanna learn all these new mechanics, i seriously hope best buy has a midnight release i dont wanna wait another day :( i want now

Exactly this. IMO the video is a bit misleading... JG is really hard to pull off. Just as an example a parry in Third Strike has ~5 frame window. JG feels like a ~1-2 framer.

If JG becomes easy to pull off- Daigo/Justin moments become possible, and I saw one of those done in a local tournament a few years afterwards.

whether this stuff becomes a huge skill gate or not is going to come down to one thing- are lows and throws viable threats in this game. I really don't want SC to become reactionary like Tekken, it's why I don't enjoy high-level Tekken. I prefer VF because it's anticipatory.

BTW you guys saying it's hard- there will be people out there who this isn't hard for them. If those folks get a massive, massive advantage, the game will lose a lot of its good points, or become massively different vs them, and probably limited.

I honestly don't know if this will be the case, I really see potential for this to end up going either way. I'm miffed it works on unblockables and guard crushes though- it shouldn't.

If you've got mad skills you deserve to get past unblockables.

Omega EVO 2009 Just Impact Machine. Make it happen.

thats what i was thinking, there could be a posibility of daigo/parry moments, but it could be a high level skill barier at the same time

It doesn't really matter how hard it is to activate JG. Parrying full supers in 3rd Strike was difficult as well, at first. Virtua Fighter is filled with unforgiving input windows, but players adapted to it. If using JG is necessary to compete, players will learn to execute JG properly (or even find shortcuts or options select to make the execution easier, which I think will be discovered at some point in time).

It is certainly better but not easier from the looks of it. I think the two will co-exist but the fact that GI costs gauge now will push people to learn JG. Perhaps that was a deliberate move on Namco's part. Why have a new mechanic if everyone wants to cling to the old, right? ;)
When I get my copy, I'm going to spend a good deal of time in training, trying to get this down. Mastering this would be a hyper-boost to anyone's game.
Regardless, I think JG will be a non-factor online since that kind of time window makes it impossible to land with lag. Offline should see some interesting results, though.

Part of High Level play will be avoiding telegraphing moves that can be Just-Guarded easily . Just Guard essentially gives powerful options to those who prefer to stay in place and guard. It rewards players who can pinpoint point-of-impact frames accurately and reflexes /mechanical skill to execute it flawlessly.
Try Just-Guarding the 5 hits of PT for fun.

3 connection bars and JG is already possible and worthwhile. The new netcode makes it possible. I do it at times in ranked matches if I can, but not consistently. It has to be a telegraphed thing, usually, or baiting people.

I don't think someone will ever be able to JG at will with ease. Players who practice it will probably be able to JG second hits in BB combos and such consistenly, but that's it IMO.

Impact is pretty retarded. Maybe if it only used meter on success it'd be good. There are guys that have GI's in their movelist which don't consume meter though just use that shit.

The new GI is nice since there's only one input and it GI's high, mid, and low, but with the fuzzy guard that's currently in the game I dunno how useful GI's really are.

Yeah, I seriously underestimated the netcode this time. A few vids in and I realized that online is pretty good!

i have never done a JG, how do i do one? i press the guard button pretty much at the time when i recieve the hit and still no JG
