Dampierre Q&A / General Discussion

anyways, is there a way to land the A+G/B+G grabs when you're falling down (from 1K for example) at all. it says against crouching opponents but 1K sends them to the ground too fast. i assume the are other moves for which this is better suited but i can't think of them at the moment.

for the 623K:K:K....K:K:K JF is it all random or does it actually take some skill to do. because i've found it to be pretty easy to get off but sometimes i just randomly fall into his fake pain stance. is that just me not inputting it correctly or s it more of his random properties?
The FP throws are used as ukemi traps.

The B!E! just frame actually takes skill, and like the above poster said, the only random aspect to it aside from Clean Hits seems to be whether he lands on his feet or PB.

What I usually do, both in SCBD and SCV is A+B~9B+K~1K then:
if no PB: finish with a 1B
if PB: B to ground and pound punch throw.
If gets kicked off: K~K~A.
If not kicked off: Keep doing ground and pound punches. Mixup with A+G and B to vary the ground and pound throw.

I don't know about you guys, but when it comes to B!E! I just mash K. For the last few kicks, I mash K harder. Seems to work pretty often.

His CE works on Yoshi's CE but not the first initial strike. Yoshi's has to spin towards you a bit.

I used to do the mashing before in SCBD. I had B+K set to the R button and just alternately pressed L then K to complete B!E! It doesn't seem to work in SCV though.

Can somebody clear this up for me:
wtf is that throw he gets when grounded and how do I break it? Haven't got Dampierre yet and quick battle AI is pissing me off.
He seems to have a low and mid entry, can I not break it?

They are both blockable. One is a low block and the one where he leaps off the ground is a high block. I have never broken either one of them however.

Dampierre was purposely made to be a bad joke character. He's neat for a pre-order exclusive character but I would never pay for him so I went with the pre-order.

I find it weird when Damp's CE deflects aerial attacks, the opponent will spin in the air then suddenly teleport to the ground to complete the CE. O.o Also, it's SUPER hard to input B!E! when your connection is only 2 bars.... BTW, here's a vid on my Damp performance:

I had one occurrence where he GI an Air attack but the CE didn't come out. I can't replicate it in training though.

I have that one scene in my vid against a Natsu. It also happened against a Xiba when he did an attack, got GI'd, flew into a wall but the CE still happened.

UPDATE!: I noticed that when I was fighting the Natsu online, she did a sidestep aerial slashing attack when I did the CE and she flew away. The CE didn't activate but when she landed after her deflected aerial attack, she still took some damage. I also confirmed this when fighting an Ivy in Hard mode Europe route. She did a side step attack when I performed my CE. Her attack got deflected but since she didn't flip and land, she didn't take any damage. From these two scenarios, I can see that Damp's CE won't continue if the opponent ends up anywhere but in front of him.

This. Just look at his “stats” (whatever, Namco). They more or less explicitly tell you he’s bad. Clearly he’s made to be a troll character, i.e., the “hey I beat you with Dampierre and it was hilarious” character. And I’m just fine with that.
