One last thing...No matter the outcome Soul Calibur has been known for 'hosting' Nightmare and his Host body at the same time. Siegfried and Nightmare both had their own story and endings at the same time until Soul calibur III, the same thing is just going down in V with Raphael and Nightmare. How Nightmare! was a special costume for Siegfried in Soul Blade only to percursor Nightmare's arrival in Soul Calibur. This persona of deceit is just a teaser into the new Nightmare's storyline and hint to being Raphael's new existence. The face,body, height,voice,character reference all tie in to that single running clue to the identify of Nightmare.

The only body available, or else he would've been another shell of armor like he was in SCIV. Raphael was the only new host of Nightmare that isn't canonically shown to be doing something else, Maxi overcame his fragment, Cev came back from Davy Jones Locker, ivy is immortal like Zas, Sophie is dead...The only thing we have to figure out now is who came first the chicken or the egg!?

According to some people he could be, some are saying he's a ghost looking for Amy at the same time as these events. We just dont know because the story mode was focusing on pat and pyrrha. Raphael isnt free and looking for her, he's a spirit chained to this earth and comprised entirely of his love for Amy, while nightmare possesses Raphael's physical body. There are many possibilities as to what is happening with Raphael, Amy, and Nightmare in the story mode timeline. Even more when you consider what could have happened before and after.

Whatever happened to nightmare anyway? I know in the storymode pyrrha beat him and then he exploded, then somehow he came back and was defeated by ZWEI. But how did he come back and where did he go when ZWEI won?

Raph has to encounter Nightmare (his physical portion) in another world and finish off Soul Edge who infected him seventeen years ago to get his body back. That would be epic.

It was actually "Seigfried!"

In addition, Seigfried's costume was one of those that appeared in his ending. The same situation for Sophitia and her hidden costumes.

Honestly, even if Raphael IS Nightmare, it doesn't matter and there's no point to discussing it.
Raphael had no importance in this game whatsoever(like most of the roster).
It wasn't even mentioned in the story if he's Nightmare(Hell he wasn't even mentioned in the story).

Also, I'm not sure if this was pointed out, but they only have the same Japanese voice actor, not the English voice actor. Charles Klausemeyer played Raphael and Patrick Seitz played Nightmare.

Anyways, until the developers say something, it's not necessarily confirmed. For all we know, it could just be a case of Project Soul being lazy and slapping a mask, claw, and armor on Raph and calling him Dumas.

Are we really trusting the Wiki on voice actors? I've done comparisons between Dumas, Raph, and Nightmare myself. All of them sound the same. All of them are Charles Rubendall/Klausemeyer/whatever the fuck.

It's difficult(for me anyways) to compare Nightmare's voice with anyone else's, given how distorted his voice is. But Dumas and Raphael don't sound anything alike. At least, I can't see any similarity in their voices.

Also, I noticed that Dumas has a bit of an accent. It's very slight, but it's there. Probably not worth noting, but I figured I'd mention it.

With Nightmare being iconic in the series, PS would have just made a different model.
