The AMAZING SC5 Online General Discussion Thread

Just a random question: This is the first fighting game I've been trying to play online, and I just cannot seem to do any move.... Is there a general timing thing I should be aware of? I get that there's a delay after every input before the move happens, but what about the inputs themselves? I try to do Patsuka's twister and end up just poking them every time. How am I supposed to practice this! Haha, they just kick my ass while I flub all the inputs and stand there doing nothing for most of the match.
 
I suggest you go to training to become as comfortable moving, guarding, and attacking as your patience allows before doing much else. Also, you should aim to know exactly which attacks you're going to be using and why (e.g Because my opponent is - ducking/moving/guarding/attacking with __). I doubt it will go smoothly, but it gets easier.

It got better after about thirty matches, I can now consistently do the inputs and all that jazz... I still drop all my Viola combos though but.... That's not a problem with Patsuka. Thanks for the advice. I'm heading to training mode anyway, as I literally fought the exact same freakin' brilliant Natsu five times and she destroyed me every time.
 
I got a job so I'm getting Soul Calibur 5 soon and I really like what they did with Raphaels spin kick looks really cool. I also like the electricity that comes out in 77K,B. I'm just glad to see Raphael got some more flashy moves he has one of the more stale looking movesets.

Better than no matchup knowledge at all.

For example, I currently lose to Xiba, Maxi and Sieg gimmicks. While knowing the gimmicks alone won't solve anything, I know its an obstacle that I need to address first.
 
Man, being a good person online does not pay off well enough. I just stood in some room, getting utterly ravaged by Enkindu's Voldo(at one point one of my losses was like, 2 "perfect"s and one near-perfect,) and I took those losses until he presumably got bored and left*. Then I go and start my own room and get THREE CONSECUTIVE ragequits from three different people. Like, seriously?

* Well okay, I've actually been seeking out a Voldo to train against, but still.

Tried out online for the second time after spending a lot of time offline playing with friends and family and holy shit, people are free to lows on wakeup. I kept getting away with Pyrrha's :1::K: spam so many times. And regarding lows, the people I played today didn't even attempt to use them, my defense was so lazy today that they could've gotten away with it too. XD
 
Anybody on PSN ever face "oOShikimaruOo"? He does player matches and usually wins most of them, but I almost beat him. So he proceeds to kick me. I asked him why and

That being said I get spammed a lot too. Even taken some losses, generally from sieg, nightmare and natsu who I despise (. BUT............I myself am responsible for learning to get around whatever they dish out. I don't go calling ppl noobs or spammers even if they are. Because in the end it's on me to get around it. I hate when ppl mail me crap like that too. It's like....if you keep getting hit with it, why am I gonna stop doing it? lol

Take it easy on him. I used to be like him. Don't have to humiliate the guy. He is one of the most egotistical person I've ever seen. He has confidence in his ability don't strike him down for it. Instead give him advice and cultivate his confidence so it matches his ability. It's not cool to get in such petty arguments over a game. I learned my lesson your just adding gas to a flame.
