α Patroklos General Discussion/ Q&A

Basically just another notation for Twister/2143a:B.

As it stands right now these are the moves i've found literally almost NO use for in aPat's movelist-

4A- WAY to risky to land. It spaces sorta ok, but it feels like most the cast can smack you for it and the backstep is so large you usually just whiff and get punished. landing it doesn't net anything other than frames, even on CH.

44B- Super short range and stupid risky for something like that. Doesn't lead to much damage, but I will admit I might just hate it because I accidentally do it instead of 44B+K.

9B. Unblockable natsu bomb is about the only time I use this. I usually regret having it come out otherwise.

Stuff I've started using more-
3B- This really leads to nice damage, and if you aren't playing one of the left tech gals it's CH damage is scary as well.

8A+B, A- I wouldn't EVER spam it, but I've found myself landing it a LOT after guard breaks(BT B+K:B and 44B+K BE).

That's what I thought - thank you. What does the 'O' stand for anyway? I was assuming some people would still call it JFU(mbrella) for those that have been playing Sets since 3.

Is 1K good against Natsu bombs?
I haven't tried this personally, but I have successfully used 1K to go over other assorted lows in the game, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. I like to use 8A+BB, but 1K probably gives better oki.

Erm JFO is Just Frame Ombrelle. Sorry guys, I tend to forget Ombrelle = Umbrella in english :(

What is a good thing to do to punish/counter Mitsurugi's 66BB or 4B? I can't do ANYTHING against mitsurugis who just spam these.

Erm.... 66B = punish with AA or 2A, 66BB = punish with 44B+K BE, 66B, 2363B, 4B = step or delay 2363B into CH.
Playing against Mitsu is easy : punish when you can, don't get poked to death, abuse TC moves.

I have no Hilde experience whatsoever. How do you play against Hilde? I heard A+B is anti charged moves.

Having problems executing his Example Combo #3. I can do it until the kick but I can't execute the third move, hell I would even give everything to finally be able to perform Sakura Twister.

Huh, which one is that? 1B:B, K, 8A+B B, Twister?

As a question of my own, regarding aPat's A+B Auto-GI, what exactly determines what he attacks with after the GI? In training mode, sometimes he does 6B, sometimes CH 3B, and sometimes B+K, 63B, 44B, but I can't really figure out how to make him perform any given technique on command, and in actual fights, he only ever does 6B. Is there something I'm missing?

His A+B aGI 'powers up' for lack of a better phrase. The more you do it during a fight the more potent it becomes, going from 6b to 3b to a horizontal high that stuns to a B+K combo.

Destinizish did some analysis on it somewhere (but I can't find it, grrr). If you gain access to say B+K, 62B, 44B (which is the highest level) during the aGI you can hold a direction (2,4,6,8) and you can control which one of the four comes out.

Huh. Interesting. Tough to land consistently though, as it feels like it's shorter than most other AutoGIs. Though I did notice that unlike, say, Cerv's B+K and A+B AutoGIs, it impacts all directions, attacks, and heights. Even reflects Algol Bubbles. I love doing that.

I remember back in SCIV, there was this one guy Asaba. Self-proclaimed Best Player In The World, and he had an absurdly high win ratio, and actually ranked really high so it wasn't like he was quitting every game. I fought him once with my Amy, and basically just reflected every one of his balls with her B+K parry. He ragequit before I landed the killing blow. Still one of my more satisfying victories.

Damn i almost died ..

Hey guys, i started playing Alpha recently because i just felt like i wanted to play a hard character and im having problems with 1B:B. Is there any guide or any tips to time it. The move feels is wayyy too hard, almost impossible even offline for me.

Press the second B just as the first attack connects / is guarded. Post patch its harder to do ( 1 frame window was it? ), but it can be done.

As for JFs I think his 1A:A:A is the hardest. His 2143B:B, ag:B and BT B+K : B can be done without much trouble, and JF Twister is just a matter of practice.

...Then again, all of them are. Lol.

Yeah, 1B:B was tough before, but a pain in the ass now, and it's essential to his offense. You need to hit B again at the very end of his first swing. I think if it like breathing, and in fact I would take little breaths as I practiced in time with the movements, and somehow that really does help.

But there are ultimately very few "tricks" to JFs. To just have to practice them until you get them right, and then be very attentive to HOW you got it right. Did you listen to the sound? Did you focus on the animation? Something will click eventually.

It isn't - like *really* isn't: 1B:B in fact is a gimmick in SCV. The only reason we were using it before is because nobody was just guarding the second hit on reaction. Which can be done and makes it launch punishable. I won a tournament on Sunday and I used it less than 5 times in the entire tournament. Replace 1B:B with 66B or 23[6]B and you have your safe, i20>, high damage mid. =)

1B:B is still do-able though - I hit it 8 or so times out of 10. Its just a matter of practice and is still both viable and useful in wall combos.

Agreed - one can definitely adapt to the new 1b:b timing restrictions to get it around 80% of the time. It's difficult, but muscle memory is so sick.

I just wanna say - I've been playin α Patroklos for about 2 or 3 weeks now, and this character is fun as hell. Like, fun as in forgetting that I main another character fun. I played Sets in 3, but I didn't play 3 very long, lol (despite playing tourney level for the brief time I played.) But yeah, good shit for putting in the work everyone. JF whores f'life.
