Casuals forums in comparison to what?

Most other things. I'm not a Harcore/Casual divider, so I wasn't making any anti-hardcore remarks. Not intentionally at least.

Do people have any vid of the SC4 costumes on SC5 characters? I've fought some but cant find any on youtube.

There (currently) aren't any SCIV costumes for the SCV characters*, outside of Legendary Souls Sieg/Night. (Who also appear in Quick Battle, if I'm not mistaken.)

*: Rock's Rhino Helm being an exception.

It was nice for them to bring back the classic masks. Devil mask on tira looks cool lol

Oh, I forgot about those!

So far I've quite enjoyed the DLC. Some of it is a bit naff, so I ignored it entirely. But those that I've gotten I've used, particularly the character equip packs.

There're some silly compatibility issues, but generally I'm satisfied.

@Solo: S&S = Sword and Shield?

I'm guessing people care more for the character then the weapon style in this case.

Yes, I hate typing that all out. I also don't see how people get attached to fighting game characters. All they do is spout out cheesy one liners. I can understand attachment to a character from a game with a main focus on story but SC isn't that.

I get what you mean yeah, though I must say there's more to a FG Character then that.

Whilst most of them don't say much, those lines still express a lot of character, on top of that we used to get individual stories for them, which really helped.

But you mustn't ignore the moves themselves either. Take Yoshimitsu for example - We get that he's eccentric because he talks that way, but also because his fighting style is full of unorthodox tools, like the Deathcopter, MCF and his poison-spit move. On top of that, his honourable, samurai-like qualities come through with his self-damaging moves.

Dampierre wouldn't be as marvellously off-kilter as he is, were it not for his bizarre stances, random move effects and weird animations.

Contrast those to Siegfried, who's a very serious character with a very serious moveset. His options are obvious, his attacks direct and not so flashy, his stances all purposeful and not designed to bemuse.

So you see, so much can be expressed in ways we may not originally have thought about. Personally, Dampierre's weirdness resonates with me, and seeing him do all those goofy things reinforces his status as the joke character. On top of that, I'm a sucker for his design. Top hat, moustache, stripes? It's got enough in there to make me like it, and his lines and fighting style cement him as one of my favourite characters.

A final note is that BECAUSE they're shallow, that's possibly a reason for people to grow attached. There's no need to really invest too much with them: What you see is what you get.

I didn't realise I had such a lengthy opinion on this.

Nostalgia seems to be a lot stronger than what most people think. That's were most of the criticism of the game is coming from; because it didn't do the same thing the last few games did. It's very funny that instead of asking Project Soul to bring in totally new modes for SCV, nostalgia freaks want them to rehash old modes like CotS. Even if it's a hell a lot of fun, it had it's run. I agree that they should have kept some of the stuff they removed, but I wouldn't want SCV to be an HD copy of SCIII/SCIV.

It's very ironic that people complained about the lack of diversity in the roster, yet they want Sophitia and Cassandra to return to the roster. That would give us 5 Sword & Shield characters and about 8 blonde "Greeks" from the Alexandra family (if you include Elyisum, since she's based on Sophie, Alpha Pat, and Pyrrha O). People complained about the roster being too "Eurocentric," and act as if adding all Alexandra family members would somehow solve the problem. Another thing is wave of people crying about Talim not being in SCV, despite her being one of the most low-tiered, underplayed characters in SCIV. I rarely ever saw her online and almost never see her in tournaments. Her low status in SCIV more likely factored in why she was excluded in SCV.

No offense to some fans, but some of them really need to let some things go, considering that the game has been about roughly 4-5 months already. I missed Mitsu's relic stance, but I'm doing fine (possibly better) without it. I missed playing as Sophie, but I'm using Patroklos now. I liked Xianghua, but I found Leixia to be more fun to play [and less of a pain in the ass]. The only thing I found remarkable about Xianghua were her orgasmic cries whenever she gets hit. Just move on already (not to you, Solo).

It's funny because nearly every complaint about SCV I've ever heard is about how their character isn't in. About Talim though, I believe she was a casual favorite. She provided the illusion of "mobility" for people who didn't like Taki's moveset. I can understand the Zas complaints, he provided racial diversity. Talim though, people just liked her because she was decent in SC despite her stances being step G but with less options. Another casual I played whined about no Amy. I simply told him that her frames were one of the stupidest things in SC besides the existence in SCIII itself and that if he likes Amy so much go play Viola since they look the same.

As for Sophitia being dead, if her body got pulled into the Astral along with Cassandra, then PS could go any direction they wanted to; they could have both of them pop out as teenagers again at some point if that's what they wanted.

And as for Sword and Shield movesets, so what if there are lots of them if they each play differently? One of the most common foot soldier weapon configurations in the world at the time was a short weapon such as a sword, club, mace or flail in one hand and a shield in the other. That's really what I'd like to see in a weapon expansion; more weapons for the S&S characters that replace the sword with other weaponry.

No, you are wrong, it's more about styles than racial diversity or mobility. I dont miss Amy, but I miss a LOT Zas and Talim. I loved the moveset of Zas, but I loved MORE creating characters who use Scythes... either for Talim, I cant make any more characters that use tonfas... this is just...bad

Agreed. Zasalamel was a character who was unique, interesting, and diverse from the rest of the cast so he could pick up his own fanbase from even players who do not play him because he was not there just for fanservice, was not simply whimsical to the point of being annoying (or on the opposite spectrum and being overbearingly brooding), did not have a similar style to other characters, and visually stood out from the rest of the cast (in wardrobe, appearance, and in concept).

I see why he garners a lot of love (I too support his inclusion in SCV at some point). However, it is true, raging over SCV is due to nostalgia. As a bear minimalist who actually enjoys SCV's tight combat system, crisp aesthetic, and diverse character creator, I am satisfied with the game. Adding more moves to movesets would make them extrenuous or completely wreck the level of balance this game may/may not actually have and adding more modes only adds more AI and foolery to the game.

I am a huge fan of SCIII's character modes; that does not mean I am blind to the fact that diverting resources and time to those modes proportionally takes away time from making characters, movesets, and a balanced roster. SCV is a fighting game, plain and simple. So long as it makes enough to turn profit and is a fun and tight combat system (my personal favorite fighting game system that has yet to come out), I will be satisfied. It will be up to Namco to decide whether they want to capitalize on this profit by allowing a bigger budget and more time to polish and add to the game. When/if that happen, I will then fully welcome the old modes from SC-SCIII to be implemented.

This also makes me wonder why fans want a SCVI because SCV is "so bad" yet refuse to help support the game to actually make some money through the DLC and other potential revenue for them (like getting friends into the series; I got five buying the game, you?). It is a deadly cycle, but Namco will never let Soul Calibur flourish unless they see it flourish, plain and simple.

Maybe it's just me, but I never liked his Queen's Guard. It was blue and it's design looked weird imo. I'm just fine with him using Amy, despite that it belonged to Amy first
Lol I liked the curved blade and the shades and hues of the different blue on the Queen's Guard. The history behind that sword in SCII weapon gallery also made me quite fond of it. Amy/Albion is alright but it seemed kinda lazy to use the same sword twice and just give it a different name. I was also quite fond of his Holy Antler.
But the addition of the Royal Rapier in SCV is a plus. It's definitely a very elegant rapier and I love it :3

That's why I buy *all* the DLC. V isn't bad to me, not in the least; I play it every day. I think it comes down to a misguided thought of showing their displeasure. They don't like the direction PS took V in but they still love the series, and boycott without realizing that business is business. Bottom line is if SCV doesn't make enough money for Namco, there will be no VI.

Others simply have the (correct) opinion that they should just buy what they want to. That can send another important message that could guide future DLC creations, if some sell much more than others, the ones that sell will get the most attention.

Both points of view are valid. We love this series and want to see it succeed but PS must know by now what we really want. The ball is really in Daishi's court now. I'd love to see some posting from him addressing the most requested things like the addition of cut characters, more CAS slots, and expanded story mode. For all we know, they're working on all of the above. They also may not be technically feasable; or in the case of things like memory usage, possible but all we can do is speculate.

Clever pun, there. lulz.
But, yeah, there's just way too much emphasis on the angelic aspect of Valkyries.
And what do swans have to do with Valkyries?
Haha I totally didn't realize I did a pun there lol.

Those damn wings. They don't even let you change the color on them so I have white wings with the rest of the outfit in dark colors. :(

That sucks. I'm just not going to get this armor set. I'll wait for another one. :)

ok guys.. revelation of the night... Why didn't they just recycle The Apprentice's Moveset and make Taki's Former master, Toki...? Like... seriously.. that would have made for some killer Ninja CAS and like.. Ventus CaS. I wish i had the power and money to control Project Soullllll!!!!!
