That's eurocentrism. If it weren't for Islam the world as we know it wouldn't exist, the renaissance would have never happened, and we (western civilization) probably would have never found America. Not to mention that India and the middle east created very complex algebra around the year 900 and paved the way for calculus. The Church sucking as a ruling institution doesn't mean that all religions are bad for us.

Christianity is a religion, but not all religions are like Christianity. Why is that so hard for people to grasp?
 
Well evolution is great damn-I-suck but still to this day, we can't explain how organized species with over millions of genes evolved from a simple structured bacteria with an average of 20 genes. Mutation explains how genes can change but not how to add some:). Evolution looks great from the outside but when you study it in college, you find it fascinating that such excellence in biological life, cannot be a coincidence. And I also find it offending that you call believers "sick" in the head. The bible was misinterpretted during the dark ages. If you read the story of Job, God did tell him that the earth was floating in nothingness.

Religion might have its bad side but science is no better.

While I do agree with you in the sense that life is utterly amazing and completely unlikely, evolution, without it's "proofs" still makes 10x more sense than any religion whatsoever.

Yess unfortunately, there is no explanation for how a species loses or gains pairs of chromosomes.

Humans have 46, Chimpanzees have 48. People with down-syndrome have 47, which is why they can't have kids (thank god for that!)

BTW, when I say "thank god", it's only an expression. I don't actually believe in god, but I love the irony:)

PS: I think cats have around 64 chromosomes or so.
 
Also Damn-I-suck science is no better than religion. They both have their fair share of craziness. Both destroying societies and taking lifes. The culprit will always be the human mind.
 
Fun fact about evolution, most people dont even understand rigth, we are not a race that have evolved from apes,but something as a subspecie fro primates by evoluion by the way, another thing i found evolution rather weak but this is just me
 
I agree anyone who believes in evolution is stupid I mean if we evolved from dinosaurs why don't we eat sharks instead of the other way around dumbasses

Scientific truths have to face hard scrutiny, they are subject to experimentation and verification.

Religion is based on "faith" and requires no such evidence.

We didn't evolve from apes. Both humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor.
 
Also atheist you don't find it weird that we are the only developed specie on earth. Say evolution but it's just amazing how the human race is great at everything. We all have a talent, some are smart, others amazing artist or athletic. Where does it all come from? This is a question where science is clueless. Everything on earth is perfect...

I have to disagree here. Science is the result of millennia of observation, experimentation and reasoning; religion is a bunch of stories made up by people under questionable health conditions looking for the approval and ruling of their societies. Also, no man has died in the name of science.

It goes kingdom>phylum>class>order>family>genus>species. Our kingdom is animal, phylum is chordata, class is mammal, order is primates, family is hominids, and we're the Homo sapiens species. A race is a group of individuals between a same species that look different, but can still mate with other races of their species. And evolution has been PROVEN by studying the DNA, there's no denying it.
 
Not true Sett, I'm starting to understand why God teachings where against science. It is destroying the human race, the creator knew that our thirst for greed and knowledge would destroy us. We are in fucked up society now when you thing about it.
 
Norik religion might have been bad during he dark ages but today science is destroying our planet. Science is killing us right now giving us cancer. Science has made us human lazy.

It is human instinct to learn. It is not the strongest that survives. It is not the smartest that survives. Its the one that is most able to adept that survives.
 
Well my point is that science is not perfect, science has just made human insanity easier to perform. With our nuclear power, we can easily destroy ourselves. Christanity might have been horrible in the dark ages but science is probably going to be the reason of our extinction.

You seem to be missing the point that evolution happens very VERY gradually over time. We were not always amazing and intelligent as we are now.

You wanna know where it came from? It came from within. Not from some guy in the sky watching over us, not from some spiritual nonsense, but from plain, mundane, planet Earth.

We are no different that any other animal, except that we just happen to be the smartest. We are not the only species that creates things from nature; Birds make nests, beavers make damns, and spiders weave death traps. Some animals even communicate with one another with sounds (may I dare say, language?)

I fail to see what's so "special" about humans other than our dominance on Earth. Throw a person in a life and death situation, and you will see the savage beast within them come out.

And BTW, the earth is far from "perfect". I don't have a clue why anyone would think that the world is perfect.

Isnt the point of science always looking for more?? i mean evolution have a hole, and that hole is pretty simple dogs, we cant explain why dog have the same species but diferent races and the again a lot of races
