RIP DLC

Using alternate costumes for different animations is more problematic than SC3's CAS-only styles.

Get over yourself, boy. Going to silly tournaments is not the only way to publicly support a game.
Well... time to throw this back at ya!
Lol @ making fun of someone where you yourself most likely don't even scratch the surface of the game. Oh and Sigged.

I agree with all that minus the changing animations part. That would make combos look weird and make moves harder to react to after you get used to seeing the default animation. Oh well, since I actually attempt to support this game outside of my house my opinion is void.
Okay yeah that would make sense. Plus Tournaments would make it weird/problematic because you couldn't really know what would be a combo startup or what. But new costumes should change win and intro poses along with quotes or voice actor altogether.

At least someone here understands something... Thank you for helping me keep my sanity.

I was thinking that it wouldn't be based on the costume, but a setting in CAS. Of course the actual cast would be locked into "their" style, any alterations would be CAS only. That way we get to play around with making creations our own and the tourneys still know what to expect because CAS is outlawed in Tournaments.

Now excuse me but weren't you the one who was so attached on getting back the original character models? Having their styles-only available for CAS would basically be a lose-lose situations for everyone. The game would be horribly balanced AND the old chars would still be missing.

Which is essentially SC3's system, as I stated.
SC3 had a few styles only in CAS, which isn't what we're talking about.

Example: Say you have Pyrrha's style. If you choose Pyrrha herself, then you can't alter win poses, animations or anything because Pyrrha is Pyrrha. But if you choose Pyrrha's style on an original CAS, they could let you pick the poses and choose a set of animations to depect different personalities, that still have the same properties as her normal attacks.

Well that would make sense too. But this is the exact opposite of "RIP DLC" and nothing here belongs on the thread. Could we get someone to rename it or something and delete the first page? Because honestly I'd be too lazy to totally replicate this discussion T_T

I said it would be very nice to have them all but I'm willing to bend and compromise. I would rather have every individual character right there because that would appeal to the largest fanbase and thus bring in the most money as those who love Cassandra, Hwang, Talim, etc. can all say "I have my favorite back" and as we all know, money is the bottom line to Namco Bandai. The more money Soul Calibur brings them, the more money they will invest in its future and the more time and resources Project Soul is allocated to getting it right.

I'm not naieve or stupid. I know that doing that, and balancing it all, would be a huge undertaking. And really all this thread is about is ideas and wishful thinking anyway. Its here to let anybody from PS that happens to browse through know what we think. That's why I compromise in my thinking; to get the most of what I want while trying to get the other side the most of what they want. so we can all be as happy as we can with the finished project and make them lots of money to keep doing what they do.

Now that they stop with DLC I'm hoping that they actually do something with the extra earned money and concentrate on making a much better version of SC5.
Not to be rude, but you're late. The topic of the thread has made a huge change (And needs a rename or SOMETHING if we are hoping Project Soul would find this)

Not late, just getting it back on track. It's just discussion spilled over from the general discussion and upcoming DLC threads. :p

I'd rather they not dump their money into a better SC5. :( Putting it all into 6 now then later revealing they've been working on it for a year sometime next year, then releasing it in the year after would be best. :p

I think you dont see that its not just a question about balance but more about uniqueness. EVERY char would lose a lot appeal when there are so much clone versions in the game, everyone would be less special and the roster would be totally watered down. This is really the main point.

How special for example would ivy be if there would be 5 different whip users? You have to realize how bad for the game this would be.

Yeah, I hope they do too. And back on topic, I wouldnt be "happy" but at least I could live with it if they surprised us with a real last DLC that consists of the rest of the unreleased 1p/2p parts. Preferably all of them but at the very least the stuff we know they were working on.

You're welcome to your opinion, as am I, and I'll leave it at that.
