Iron CAS

That's why you won. You took it seriously. It's okay to have fun, but you wouldn't want to lose competition brings out the best in us.
Well the weird thing is that I wasn't really entering just with competitive intentions, it was more because I know how much entering the competition teaches me and I was hoping for a compliment or two. But yeah, I'm still chuffed I won.

And competitiveness doesn't always bring out the best in us. When I start losing a game of snap, I take out my anger/saltiness on my opponent's hands :P
Hehe, I do get what you meant though!

Take it from me, I used to be a casual player....until I learned the game properly and became competitive. When I lose at anything, I get salty. Despite that, I never call my opponent cheap and always try to seek help to be a better challenge. Elitists will be around, but none will pierce mind if it is as calm as water. Anyways, I'm a Compasual(Competitive frame data player that retains some Casual qualities). Even if you play hold hands and let's share, competition always teaches people their strengths and weaknesses. Without them, we wouldn't know what to improve on.

That aside, I await the next entries from you and everyone else.

I'm not promising anything, I'm having very little luck with CAS recently, but I'll give it a few days and see how I feel.

Also, I think I'm pretty much exactly what you just said in terms of playstyle, but I'll reply to what you said on your profile or something like that since I want to reply but should probably stop derailing this thread with irrelevant stuff.

The irony is modest skilled CAS artists are similar to modest skilled players. I hold expectations for you because I see your potential as some worthy adversary. Sure you may have flaws, but it's just trial and error with preferences haha. Just do your best and flaunt your CAS with a smile.

I never really thought to compare CAS with competitive fighting, but you have a point there! And the way in which those who are far better than you may arouse feelings of jealousy, but the best CAS artists or fighters will question how they can improve their own style and replace that jealousy with inspiration.
I really want to be good at CAS and fighting, though it's a combination that I rarely ever see done :P

For an item I loathed, it actually turned out to be quite useful. I'd normally pick the Slit Skirt over it because it had a better fit but now I'll think twice. I'll put all three here and edit the earlier post, Loyd's been tweaked.

TIP: Put a sticker on the item and move it up to the belt portion. Now when you go to move it sideways, it will be mirrored. Take a look at Ballard's belt to see what I mean (Place By View gives better results than Axis). As far as I can tell this works for all three versions of the item.
Cheers!

I vote for Fliptop, specifically for his Ballard. This was a very easy decision to make. Let me tell you why.

The reason the Cloth Wraps are so hard to work with is because of their bulkiness at the belt. If left uncompensated for this bulkiness, the part looks like it magically hovers around the hip. In these cases, a Slit Skirt, perhaps with another belt, is a better choice of parts. However, in my opinion, Cloth Wraps are used best in their intended function when balanced with bulky upper body equipment, e. g. upper body armor. Ballard is the only design here that definitely looks like it takes that balance into consideration.

Aw crap, it's voting time already? I wanted to take part in this round as well!

EDIT: Ok, suppose I better decide on my favourite.
I found it damn hard to choose between Fliptop and Mistakoo.

I thought Fliptop's Lloyd was a very interesting use of the cloth wrap, I wouldn't have thought of that. Though there's something kinda wrong about his hat.
Sasha has lovely patterns, I really love the use of the tree sticker on her cloth wrap, but my only problem with her is that the cloth wrap looks kinda bulky. Though Ballard's design works perfectly with the cloth wrap. I'm not so sure about his boots, but other than that I can't fault him.

Having said that, I still think I'm going to vote for Mistakoo. The colour schemes are great, particularly Sato's. And Kei is just brilliant, I don't know where to start. The outfit screams personality, and the second flower was perfectly executed, I think she's my favourite of all your creations.

DJdoubleB's Philosopher definitely has some good potential too, I like the way his red and black orb runs through the design.

I think I'll hold back my vote this time.
While I like Lloyd a lot I don't like the other two, I think I've said it multiple times but I can never get into Fliptop's coloring style despite that he has a lot of interesting CAS and great item ideas. As for DJdoubleB his Angelo is interesting but I can't judge him without seeing at least one shot showing his back in full view.

However, in my opinion, Cloth Wraps are used best in their intended function when balanced with bulky upper body equipment, e. g. upper body armor.
While I agree with the rest of your post, no way in hell this is its "intended function." They simply got lazy and didn't bother sizing it correctly.

I agree. They did get lazy. What I meant by "intended function," though, was to add a hanging, detailable flap(s) of cloth at hip level, not necessarily to be coupled with a bulky top. I just wanted to differentiate that kind of usage from, say, using it on a design that purposely uses as many magically floating pieces as possible.

I think I'll hold back my vote this time.

People voted for you, remember. If everyone adopted this mentality of "Can't choose, won't vote", the challenge wouldn't work. I understand if you're not around or miss the voting deadline but taking the time to just post "nah" is poor form, especially considering 5 people already made a choice in your favour. As you said earlier, flip a coin if you have to.

As for my vote it's going to DJdoubleB and there are a few reasons for this. The Cloth Wrap is easily subbed for the Slit Skirt in most cases but the one thing it's got going for it is it's wearable with trousers/pants. This means you can actually use it in conjunction with them to strengthen a design. The Philosopher does this with his orbs, as does Angelo with his wing stickers. If you take away the Cloth Wrap those designs lose something substantial and obviously you can't easily swap the Slit Skirt in its place since that's a Leg item and you'd lose the decorated trousers. Angelo also has a very nice looking and well made Eagle helmet. How on earth this was overlooked is beyond me, it's a great detail. A simple but striking look with all the golden stripes and the Wrap serving as a symbolic tail- rounding off the bird theme- was great to see. It could have benefited from a wider variety of shots but you can piece it together just fine. The Philosopher actually seems to play up to the bulkiness of the belt and the black hole theme by having the torso disappear into the gaping hole. That's a very interesting idea which I liked and the eyes are also creepy. He strikes me as a demonic Jack in the Box. Ruin is a bit weaker, although Pandora's box is a nice idea.

MistaKoo's designs are undeniably pretty and you can see what most of the motivations were with things like the flowers and animal print. What I didn't see was using the item in a quirky way. That's not to say it should be an outright novelty *coughlizardtailcough* but DJ's use of the Wrap for Angelo and Philosopher had a little bit more to it than simply looking pretty. The dots were there to be joined in an interesting way and that's what I responded to more, in the end.

Tht's true. Ok I guess my vote goes to Fliptop, I just like Lloyd more than Angelo so yeah.

As for the cloth wrap my main problem with it isn't how it floats but how boring the belt looked, my goal was to make the belt look interesting and with the way the kitty tunic clips I think I perfectly achieved my goal.
Edit: Also both designs utilized the pants as part of the design.

All the entries were splendid and creative souls but my vote goes to Fliptop with his Loyd design. The use of the cloth wrap kinda makes it look like Loyd has a tail. Kinda reminds me of Rango. Though we cant make our own actual lizardmen from scratch, Fliptop made a good attempt of making something like a lizardman .
