We are not a generation of players who did not like to read ,or who did not like to follow agood story line.Back in the days,i remember.... it was very important(super nintendo rpg, nintendo64,Playstation)
Moreover i started playing soul calibur because of the story,all the cultural background and not the framerate data or what you call gameplay...Sure it is important but...
Only focusing on this aspect of game would be stupid....
Dead or alive 3 story was also fascinating.Thats why we started playingNinja Gaiden...

Don't get shit twisted. I don't play these game for frame rates or punishing or tier list or whatever other stuff you want to throw out there. I play these games to fight my character of choice against someone else's character of choice.

Story in a fighting game is completely meaningless to me because they suck. If there is a cocky ass nunchaku guy with cool moves then that enough for me. I don't need a write up on why he is like that or when he was born or who his destined rival is.

I wish people would get it through there heads that we don't need that shit and the sooner that happens we will start seeing more and more semi-balanced (lets face it you never get it right the first go) characters added to games.

Ninja Gaiden is much older than DOA so we didn't get Ninja Gaiden from Dead or Alive's lame ass story.

If its meaningless to you, then just ignore it. Nobody is making you play a story you consider shitty. Developers aren't aiming the single player modes at people that don't like single player modes. But there are a lot of people who do like single player modes. The inclusion of single player content doesn't affect you negatively in any way, even if you don't like it.
 
In life and its many components - some things are not needed but wanted. Wants and Needs are different, and In the world of business more often than not, the "want" is more important than the "need"...

We do not need HDTVs we want them...

After all is said and done different people have different wants. But it is safe to say we are ALL excited for DOA 5 :D

So when I ignore it like I have been since forever Zasalamel and Yun-Seong turn up missing from the game. Two characters I really like.

Way to ignore the part about us potentially getting more characters because they don't have to spend the resources on making lame ass story modes though. Some people need to get their priorities straight and play RPGs for story when you need down time from the Fighting game.

I'm not entertaining this discussion anymore. Good Day.

Some reviewer at Ruliweb. Apparently, they only wanted to show their fancy new TV, but didn't notice that unannounced characters were in the shots.

The funny part is that you said this in a Soul Calibur forum. A fighting game franchise that used to do a lot of single player stuff.

Not so much anymore.

My guess as to why there are so much single player stuff in fighting games - because gaming in general has come a long way, and fighters need as much extra garnish as much as a platformer does.

But hell I love singleplayer stuff.

Most games run 720P and just upscale. No big deal. Unless all that changed recently.
 
That was the old days when you didn't have a plethora of players to play against so you needed redundant modes like survival, time attack, story, weapon collector to keep your attention which all required you to fight the same characters multiple times. What's the difference between that and playing online? Oh wait you might actually lose because not everyone falls for 6B6B6B6B6B6B6B.......9ABCHJUFK!?

People need to move on with the times. I only signed that petition in hopes of new characters. Screw those modes unless they will be usable in online play like DOA4 did with Survival.
