Also 99% of the people posting in this thread are biased to only what they have played vs in their scrubby small local community.

Jinmaster.

Was he baked for this one too? If so, maybe I should hit him up one day. Always good to have another connection.

I still honestly believe that X is the best character in the game. My reasons are numerous and i dont feel like listing them

Jinmaster is baked sitting in a wheelchair trying to alphabetize M&Ms; but only the blue ones, because he's minorly OCD.

Give him a few to regain self-awareness.

Are you saying that people who play competitively never benefit from a character's easy learning curve (and easy execution), and always milk out all of their character's potential?

Not at all, I'm just trying to get an idea as to what background you're coming from with a lot of different opinions I've seen.

I never went to a tournament, and never made much studies for a fighting game before SCIV.
I have learned a lot of things on forums and discovered several things in training mode and online matches through my own experience. I have somewhere around 200 hours played, and more than half of it has been spent in training mode.

In the past, I repeatedly had the proof that the majority isn't always right, and the majority rarely cares about deep details in a game. At least, they rarely care enough to verify on their own.
So I rarely believe what others say unless they can convince me that they're right, or I get the same opinion myself.
People typically repeat what they've heard, and what they've heard and agree with isn't always the truth.

True, but that doesn't prove that your own opinion is correct either. I'm not saying you're wrong, but questioning SOMEONE ELSE'S line of thinking when it doesn't match your own isn't always the best option.

Hm, I believe that questioning someone else's opinion is always the best option, especially if you can discuss it with said person.

The one who was right since the start feels more certain about their opinion, and the one who was wrong has learned something new.

But in some cases, it can't be completely proven, or proven easily. So even though I think it's good to have a different opinion, discussing it can be a waste of time...
(Like almost any discussion with Setsuka...) [Edit: I'm not talking about 1B:B though.]
In that case, it might indeed not be the best idea to question others' opinions. But I believe that it can also be a good thing to do, as long as you don't try for too long to convince others that you're right, and accept that you might be wrong.

Still, whoever said "It's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt" probably has never discovered anything useful in their lifetime.

If everyone respected this, we'd still believe that the earth is flat.

This changes things in 'tier lists'..not so long ago alot of people felt that Amy was ZOMG but I don't think people feel this way now - however a recent japanese player's video could probably sway heads again.

... could I... have that video? pretty please? :3

anyway

uh, I know this is an ongoing discussion, and that's cool and all, but..

tier lists are put together how they are for a reason.

that being said, I can't see those reasons.

maybe I'm asking too much or from a position of ignorance, but if the TC or anyone could tell me why, in detail, certain characters are where they are, that'd be great.

or maybe I'm missing something as well. :|

and perhaps Plume can't go to tourneys because of the whole BFE thing

I know how it feels deeply ._.

Heheh, for the moment, I indeed cannot go to any tourney, but that's because I still have too many things left to learn or improve on.

Gonna disagree simply because an aggressive Soph dodges every single f'ing fast move Siegfried has except 3k. Honestly...how long do you think it takes to kill Sophitia with 3k? Anyway nobody in their right mind would choose to play either against Soph because it's a terribad matchup so if you can't elevate Nightmare lower Siegfried because he gets farking boned by Sophitia, Kilik, Cassandra and Yun Seung. Even hitting 4-5 JI's PER GAME to cover your wide open ass will barely be enough to win the matchup.

Going into specifics is not your thing, huh?

Well then you probably won't improve. No amount of practice online or in training mode can compensate for the experience of playing in a tournament, I know that sounds like a strange concept but it's been proven time and time again.

It's not a strange concept, but I'm still at the level where I have things to learn in practice mode and online.

I'm new and I play Setsuka. I shouldn't need to say anything after that...

But yeah, once I feel that I don't have much left to learn by myself and online, I will probably go.
It would just be a mostly wasted experience if I went so soon.

I dunno is Jinmaster is right or wrong.

But I'll believe anyone with an avatar that badass. Got my vote.

I'd go sooner rather than later. Tournaments are a great learning environment win or lose. That experience also helps guide solo practice. Online etc's ok, but nothing tops tourney play for helping someone pick up a game.
