What is so wrong with playing a game for fun? Winning isn't everything, at least to me it isn't. I mean dude, it's just a game. I mean, when I play online or against my friends and lose, I don't throw a fit. I just shrug, go "okay, maybe next time", and practice. It's not the end of the world if you lose. The only time I get slightly annoyed is if I am fighting a spammer. lol I just get the impression that the hardcore competitive fans think that if you don't play as if your life depended on it then you shouldn't be playing in the first place. Uh no.
I will give and admit that SCV does feel like the the most balanced game of SC but just because it's well balanced doesn't mean I'm going to blindly say it's the best game of all. I may like the older games a little bit in terms of how they make me feel (I admit, nostalgia has me) but I'm not opposed to change. If there is a SCVI, you can bet I will try it out and maybe even like it. If Namco gives PS more time to develop the game, I just know it'll be great. The only thing that would drive me away from SC is if they take the swords away and turn it into a obscure magic fighting game. I like Viola but imagine if they made dozens of characters like her? lol Other than that, I'll always be a fan of SC and even if V isn't all that exciting to me, I'm not going to turn my back on the series as a whole. :)
