It's a Mass Effect thing.
I reckon Try Hard comes from Show Off you know. Someone who puts on an image, is "trying too hard" and not just chilling out enough. Just a guess, Americanisms confuse me, such as "I could care less". Bitch, that means the opposite of that which you're attempting to state.

You had to have played Mass Effect 3 to get it. The Illusive Man is this evil bastard with glowing blue eyes who thinks he can control the Reapers (sentient machines which are wiping out all sentient life in the galaxy, yeah cliche I know) but in the end he was just being brainwashed/manipulated by them. Shepard was the character you play as and he spends half the game trying to kill you and the other half trying to convince you he is right.
I don't know about the whole controlling evil thing, I think someone just wanted to make Romney look like a douche and I though the ME reference was kinda funny.

Here's the thing though, the guy who called me that beat me! I beat the guy before him and once he beat me he was like "Yo K0rN b4LL if you wanna try hard you better be ready to come at me bro!" And then I got the boot.

I got told off for 30 minutes because of this Try-Hard excuse, btw this guy had a mic and i dont have one so defending myself was difficult, especially with my slow texting. TT ^TT
Heres how the convo went

I stay quiet and proceed to fight him again using Omega with a custom outfit and him using a Rock CaS. This is what followed.
Scrub: GAH! YOU ARE SO ANNOYING WITH THAT DAMN STAB!! DONT YOU KNOW ANYTHING ELSE YOU ASSHOLE???? You dont even know any combos!!!
I proceed into leading him next to a wall and do the following combo:
236:B W! 236:B W! 66B+KAB G 236236B.

Aeon: Axes, claws, and teeth dull over multiple attacks. Fire breath now does Damage Over Time, but no initial damage. Critical edge removed as if anyone cares.
Astaroth: Muscles doubled. Now takes 30 damage on every attempted attack due to leakage of blood. Damage doubled.
Devil Jin: Removed, TTT2 is out god dammit!
Phyrra: Phyrra has stopped being a wuss. Damage, speed, and balls have tripled.
Patroklos: Limbs and stabs kill him like they would in real life, because no one like Patroklos.
Voldo: Voldo can now reach a climax, and this causes him to immobilize from pleasure.
Leixia: Now has an incredibly loose grip on her sword. Leixia may now throw her sword away, and is forced to use her fists, which have unblockable, but damageless attacks.
Nightmare: Nightmare is now a nocturnal horse.
Siegfried: Now has to be constantly spinning to fight.
Viola: Now uses actual nails for battle, which break and render her orb powerless.
Ivy: Ends every match in 4 seconds from chocking opponents and immobilizing them from her breasts.
Poe: You get out of her sight.
Cervantes: Bullets can be rapid fired and instant kill.
Ezio: For no reason whatsoever, Ezio is now naked and weaponless.
Mitsurugi: For no reason whatsoever, Mitsurugi is now emo and can either take his anger out on you, or slits his wrists for an instant kill.
Algol: Now renamed Bubble Bath, and can only shoot bubbles.
Patsuka: still removed in favor of Zasalamel.
Tira: Jolly side permanantly removed, Gloomy side renamed Livid.
Natsu: Breast buff, up to snuff with Taki now.
Xiba: Metabolism requires him to attack and get blood off of you. Health drops by 10 every second and health returned is equivilant to damage dealt.
Maxi: No longer has nunchucks, and now has elbow blades. Maxi can no longer block.
ZWEI: ZWEI can now perform the Wolf Fang Fist ability.
Raphael: Raphael now gentlemanly bows when he fights.
Yoshimitsu: Fooled you! this Yoshimitsu is the original. This includes the one shotting unblockable.
