Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

Intermediate my ass LOL Seriously haven't faught anyone near as close to as good as you are at actually winning. As far as inputs, who cares, you got the mix game and the fake outs.

Rejoice, Helena players, new tech has been discovered! Nothing compared to her force wake ups in the DOA4 days, but still something I believe every Helena player should have in their arsenal. Enjoy.

So a few of the guys at FSD have been experimenting with smallest life (the old normal life level ) and have actually been enjoying the game more. That's mainly because you can't play as reckless dues to mistakes being less forgiving.

just faced a really good Ayane. but it was the pre patched version. man. now i know what people were talking about concerning the OP-ness of that 66K of hers. and she has every tool every character needs. she has speed, spacing, reaching, tech ducking, and instant launchers. OMFG!

That's how I like my doa, honestly. Is it looking at becoming the competitive standard?

I'm not about to jump the gun on that, but I have been trying to get people to try it out for a couple of days now. It's a mixed bag of reactions, but people who like other 3D fighters seem to enjoy it more.

It feels really weird going back to normal life... I feel like I don't have to respect my opponent at all. I've got all this extra health I can treat like free gambling chips on my birthday.

On smallest though, every mistake feels a lot more relevant. If you're gonna be reckless you'll die silly fast.

Even the scrubs who have come into my rooms have been quick to adapt to a more traditional spacing game after the first couple of rounds. They don't like dying inside of ten seconds. The increased level of fear makes every match a lot more interesting.

That's why I like it. It forces everyone involved to get their shit together and jump on the same page, quick. Unless they enjoy the back of the conga line.

Interesting that 3D FG players enjoy it more.

Well then little kid, have you also been incessantly whining since dreamcast?

I am not actually complaining that much - a negative comment here and there. But for some reason people in the DOA community/threads have a problem being critical... Its all Praise Praise Praise... I am not sure why people are so scared to speak their mind, maybe they just don't have one?!

Well the one thing the community was very critical about was customization and a CC mode which I argued would help sell more games! And I was right! DOA sales are super LOW! This is what happens when people are afraid of change - when they are afraid of new ideas!

I have argued with other people on this form as well - but whenever someone came on to this form that I created, who had a very different opinion from me or what I was talking about, I would make sure to send that person a PM letting them know that I appreciate different points of views even though we dont agree!

This is true maturity and respect! I understand your need to be happy with the game, but there is always room or should always be room for different perspectives, whether you like them or not! And if someone says something you dont like - don't attack the person - debate the issue, and even encourage people to speak their mind. This, is, a HEALTHY mentality!

Team Soul did this customization idea that you want so much and look how they ended up. they focus more of the customization and casual audience appeacement that they don't focus so much on gameplay. something has to be sacrificed for something. with VF the customization replaced what could have been some type of story mode. (makes sense.) Tekken has simple move list and physics system. so the customization seems to fill in the gap for that. not to mention the simplicity on whatever that story mode thing was as well. that beat 'em up style has been going on for decades so i'm pretty sure that didn't take up to much of the devs time for making the game and that might be a reason why the customization feature in tekken is pretty extensive. DOA has damn good looks and a fully fleshed out story. it also has a tag mode that Tekken has to focus a whole new title around. so there probably wasn't much room or time to add in a customization feature.

maybe team ninja isn't full of sellouts like capcom and namco are. maybe they want a game that they want. not what sales are gonna rake in. they know doa fans are gonna pick up the game and that might be all that matters. they have other titles that are directly under their name so they obviously have money.

Would a handful of extra people picking up DOA to play dress up, really make a difference in sales?

I don't think I ever heard anyone ever say "Oh, DOA? No customization? Damn, guess I won't be getting that." usually when I hear about this game its "NEW DOA!? FUCK YEAH!" or "LOL...Doa...fuck that trash."

Sales are super low? Didn't...didn't it beat out Tekken Tag 2 on console somewhere(I know I read it sold great, somewhere)?(EDIT: Its also important to note DOA5 came out in a very game heavy month. Having to compete with Borderlands 2, TTT2, Torchlight 2, probably some others.)

And it's not ideas people are afraid of. Its the execution of how those ideas, those "changes" are handled. As Vincent said, in order to put effort toward something new, you gotta sacrifice something else. Cause the time, budget, and manpower can only be spread so far.

Being negative about a game you know so little about would come off as ignorant, it is always the case that the hardcore fan of every franchise hates on the latest sequel. *Shakes fist at MGS4*

If you enjoy playing the game then its doing something right.

No offense, but I could swear that about 80% of your posts in this thread have been negative or whiny in some way usually complaining about the same things I.E the handling of stuns. Also not every thing said in this thread has been positive. For instance a lot of the newer people to DOA have complained about how frustrating it is to fight online due to people buttonmashing them or lag. I, myself complain about how frustrating it is to fight Jann Lee online from time to time.

You make it sound like everyone in here is just circle-jerking saying stuff like "YEAH, DOA5 IS DA BESTEST, PERFECT FG, DONT'CHA AGREE!!??" Remember, there's a difference between constructive criticism and repetitive, incessant whining about something you dislike.
