If Training Mode or Similar Modes Had a Snapshot Feature

The pics that I'm about to display were inspired by the snapshot modes in Super Smash Bros Melee n' Brawl. I've taken my own snapshots, but my camera doesn't take the best-quality pics, well, if I do this on an older TV.

Here we go. First, my "masterpiece." :3

Pyrrha: Patroklos, I.....I stole our mom's sword.
Patroklos: Noooooooooooo!!!!!

Dude, GTFO! They're MY Pokemon cards.

Soul Calibur's Closeup :sc5pat1:

Yeah ~ I wish SCV had some sort of exhibition mode where you can just pick a stage and character and the ability to choose and stop character animations, so we could all take perfect snapshots. XP
SCIV had the option to change the background, but no snapshots. SCV has snapshots, but no changing backgrounds. XD

Anyways, I love Pat's face in your second picture. XDDD

You could use the replay feature in training mode, and capture the whole the whole thing as a video. Look at PockyYohi's comics for a good example of this method.

Pyrrha's obviously my main, and using her Critical Edge like I did will get you guys results just like my first two pics.

Of course, I did a lot of experimenting with player n' opponent positions to get the funniest stuff. It took me a long time to get something like the fourth pic, which was flipped upside down to get a glimpse of Soul Calibur's face. :3

Pyrrha VS Siegfried

Sorry for bad quality...
Pyrrha vs Leixia is very cute... No pics though, sorry

Eh... can't stand these ugly photos. No pun intended but the snapshots that have been posted here are really bad /. (the captions and mini-story are ok though...)

Taking photos off a screen is only going to be as good as a crappy bootleg film on videotape (if you're old enough to remember those). Even worse, is using a crappy camera off a crappy TV set, either one or the other or both. Not that taking good photo's directly off a screen isn't possible, but at least try to (get) use quality hardware (and not your cell phone either), some good lenses, and perhaps proper use of lighting and setup. (None of that will matter however if the source isn't great though...)

Of course, as already briefly mentioned above, the best method to grab any screen from any game (or video source) will be using a capture card or device (in HD preferably). Then run the footage through a video editing software of your choice and go through the motion frame by frame choosing whichever you like.

Even if you don't have the equipment, compose your shots.

At the very least, get rid of the menus.

The game has a nice replay functionality built into it that can allow you do some cool stuff. It's a feature thats been around in one form or another since the first Soul Calibur. In SC5, the replay happens automatically after each round but you can go into it manually through training mode by intiating it in options menu. You can replay the last 6 seconds of motion/play and it will continuous loop the replay. While this going on, you can control the camera - change the angle, change the point of interest (1P/2P), zoom in and out, pan, track, dolly, and so forth by using the sticks, triggers, and buttons or a combination thereof (you'll need to use a controller instead of fight stick for full control). There's a defined limit to how much you can move the camera but should allow you enough freedom to compose a creative shot or two.

Aside from changing camera details in replay mode, you could get rid of all the menu's, status bars, overlays, etc in the default persepctive during gameplay if you so desired by changing the display settings and turning everything off in options menu.

Then a nice clean screen like this.

However, from this perspective you wont be able to get any alternate camera angles such as focusing on one character.

It would have been nice if the game had some kind built in screen capture utility to make it easier and more accessible.

Anyways, here are some more examples of some screenshots, a few frames from replay sequences:

I've used that feature it feels more.. Realistic in training mode, but I wish I had a capture device.. That looks so fucking beautiful..

That screenshots are nearly perfect!

What's your HD card or device? The standard devices no way reach that level of sharpness in the screenshots...

They are still frames from video capture using Blackmagic-design Intensity capture card. Its at its native resolution of 720p (1280x720) at 59.94 fps. The video is just as sharp and picture perfect. Of course to get the still frames, I just impo to Adobe Premiere and take snapshots from the myriad of frames to choose from (59 frames/sec although interpolated inthe timeline). Worth of every penny if you like the capture video streams in HD. Just make sure you have the hardware to support it.

Thanks for the info, after seeing that pics I looked for a capture device. The device options no way reach that level (like AverMedia Game Device HD, who make blurry screenshots, at least head to head with yours), and really the Intensity price it's fine, but I'm a laptop user :(

Anyway, thanks for the info ;)

Blackmagic also has external version over USB 3 or Thunderbolt if you have a Mac called Intensity Shuttle. Infact these external ones have better performance than the Intensity Pro.

skytoast, thanks for the info!

I saw the Intensity Shuttle, the price it's slighty more expensive, and it works with USB 3.0. My laptop it's 4 years old, there's no way that could work with such devices...

I think that the only choice to me it's AverMedia Game Capture HD, but the screenshots are faaaaaaaar away that the ones you showed...

EDIT; I think there's another device that maybe can be useful, and all reviews say it's an high quality device.

The device it's the "Elgato Game Capture HD". I'm now out of cash, so I'll buy it the next month (Amazon), when I know how to setup and take screenshots, I'll show you the pics ;)

All right, I bought the Elgato device from Amazon and it's amazing, but there's no way to plug the HDMI to the device due that damn HDCP, so I've got to use component.

The quality it's far that the one you posted here, but in any way it's quite good. Some tests;
