Ideas for new characters?

1: Original wouldn't hurt

2: Meh, a better story line for everyone would do well I'd say.

3: No.

4: No.

5. What?

Stick to what SC series has been doing, guest characters and original characters. Nothing else. I think a cross-character switch between MK and SC would do well. As the discussion earlier stated: Shang Tsung fits perfectly in Soul Calibur, it'd be neat to see him. However, I could settle for some decent original characters. Or just add new ones with the same old styles but ADD A BACKSTORY.

Like Maxi could have a daughter who ends up being an orphan, tough on the outside, cute and innocent on the inside. As long as there is a story for us to get attached to them.
1. PS wasn't original at all with SCV: new skins with barely changed old styles...
2. Some games without much storyline have characters that possess great charisma, here we have neither.
3. Well since the Dynasty series used like nearly every weapon possible, the Soul series will have great difficulties to come up with something really new. I didn't say "copy the moves", I said "bring another weapon".
4. Makes as much sense as the presence of other characters in the series. Matter of personal preference. ^^
5. In her artwork Elysium is seen with Soul Calibur hovering above her head, her style should include that, not a bloody mimic.

We have enough on gameXgame... Imho, with mixing characters again and again and again, we lose the game's essence... For such a mash up, you have Mugen.

Just no: we were given orphans and kids and stuff without any story, they are like potatoes. A new character without fixing the existing ones is an open door to "let's remove everything but online and versus and let's add 12 new characters for no reason and without any logic"... It's, again, my personal opinion.

The last set of characters from SC4, SC4BD and SC5 (Aside from Hilde) all don't have that traditionally / historically based warrior vibe.

Glowing weapons from your back/forearms with bubbles.
Goofy-wrist mounted hidden blades.

Frankenstein monster
Vampire
Got to hate Algol, so very much
Hilde I believe she is somewhat based on Joan of Arc.
Vampire...I dunno I guess if it was more like Raphael in Soul Calibur IV not confirmed yet added deepness in his profile.
Astaroth...no words really.
I also miss the historical feeling but I guess this is not coming back.

The only crossover I accept is with Sengoku Basara U.U this yes would be great.

Assuming that no crossover is th best crossover, yeah Sengoku is one of the few compatible.
Samurai Shodown and Last Battle the other two.

In b4 somebody say GG or BB making me loss more hope in human kind

The wrist blade was in reference to dampierre. When the trope of a goofball swindling conman is more important than the weapon set he is wielding, I've got a problem with it.

Basically, if Raphael is more vampire than fencer, i'd have a problem accepting that.

1. Well, you could say that.
2. Well, being charismatic =/= fully developed character. Besides, we can't say that these new characters are fully developed when this is only their first game.
3. Dynasty Warriors has its combination of weapons. Some already in SC series: sword that has the same style as Leixia's, bo staff, dagger axe that is basically Zasalamel's weapon, technically a chain whip, Guan Dao, scimitar, rapier, tonfas, moon blade that resembles Tira's weapon, steel fan, great sword, battojutsu style

Some that could be in: hookswords, large trishulas, twin halberds, conjoined swords

However, there are some that really don't need to be in SC: Throwing knives, flying swords, pugil sticks, armblade/iron boat, siege lance, harp, flute.
4. The Steampunk idea really doesn't make sense, but neither does most of the other characters, so I'll give you that one.
5. Technically she does.

Nah just manner of speaking.

SC doesn't need any crossovers or guests (It's just to get more money). I will be fine if they did it like SC3 with no guests.

the floating swords idea is pretty cool. like sora's final form

It's more than money. SC's mainstream popularity has been built upon including guest characters, even though it was a well-known series before that. It just didn't have as much attention. There have been other benefits about SC2, but I know if many say that SC2 was the best SC game, the guest characters (especially Link) is, if not the top, on the top 3 as to why they loved SC2.

What made up for SC3 was the content, and Creation mode, even though Kos-Mos was technically the guest character of that game.

Nothing wrong with including a guest character. SC including guest characters has succeeded (Link, Heihachi, Darth Vader, Kratos), and failed (The Apprentice, Yoda). Ezio is actually a good guest character, but unfortunately, it didn't bring a huge impact to the game as it did for Link and SC2.

2. They aren't either... Even not a bit developped... In every SC game I knew if I'd like or hate a character by a simple glimpse, here I don't like nor hate Pyrrha and Patroklos... All I know is that I hate Leixia as much as I did hate her mother xD Imho there is something lacking in that game...

3. Yeah there are some in-game (not the say the most basic ones), but Dynasty's originality begins where SC's ends. It's not good nor bad, just that the SC universe should be 1000x more original than a history-based video game... Again, it's a matter of taste and I know many people will hate me for that.

4. I am completely aware that it doesn't make sense, but I like steampunks characters :D And, you must admit it, a guy coming back from the victorian era isn't really shocking: we've got swords with spirits, a flying fire-breathing lizard, a guy floating mid-ait shooting bubbles, a golem, people who don't age (and with back-breaking boobs), a vampire ghost, two people with deformed arms, a mechanical ninja, without even mentioning three time travellers (Heihachi, Ezio, Spawn) and galaxy travellers (am I the only one who like both Vader and Starkiller?)... I suppose "making sense" isn't really something you have in mind when you think of SC xD I'm not spitting on the game, I'm just trying to convince you that my idea is legit xD

5. I have not seen her control her sword with her mind, nor seeing it floating :S

... Damn I've given up on the game for so long, now I feel like playing the hell out of it!

I didn't want a big crossover between SC and MK, just a guest character trade. Shang on SC, and Algol on MK. I think everyone would be fine with that. It's plausible, entirely. It just depends on whether or not Ed Boon is as stuck up as I think he is.

By the way, for all the people suggesting guest characters (Steampunk Inquisitor..) I don't think we should just randomly say "I like this character, so put it in". I think Krystal Fox, Mario, and Nathan Drake would be awesome guest characters, but to other people it's a dumb idea, and it isn't going to happen either.

I can agree with this to an extent. Link was cool and I'm getting use to Ezio. I wouldn't say that Kos-Mos was technically a guest. I think they can pull off no guest characters for the next installment, but of course it's too early to judge since SCV is still here.

As I said before, nothing makes sense anymore in-game: Shang Tsung, the immortal sorcerer, makes as much sense as a Steampunk time traveller (I like this character ONLY for a backsword, because PS don't seem to think that we'd all like this weapon...) or a soul that took form of a half-naked man.

The worst idea imho is to add guests... Fan service I know, but they could have focused on another canon character...

And, I repeat, everything is a matter of preference and personal tastes. Some ideas are better than others (and by "better" I mean "welcome by many") and I'm aware that mine are bad, but I just give my own idea of a character :P

I like the idea of guest characters, infact I think there could be multiples per game. It'd be awesome. Although Shang would be badass and fits in Soul Calibur, I have a wishlist for it:

1: Link (Again)

2: Krystal Fox (Maybe then they could figure out how to use their fuzz technology for non-dumb things)

3: Samus Aran

4: Predator/Alien (Why not? it'd be neat)

5: Sheogorath (Cuz lol)

Those are my top 5 "never gonna happen" picks. Well, Krystal and Link could possibly happen, but I doubt the others.

I remember when the focus of the game was about the two swords, the characters and their unique weapons they used and the pseudo-historical vibe they had going on with the first three games (I personally think SoulCal 3 was more Final Fantasy-like).

1. Yes but then again wasn't he already a guest character, why not go with Roy or Marth from Fire Emblem.

2. Not so sure but maybe...

3. Nope.

4. That would be overkill

5. Nope.
