Raphael General Discussion / Q&A

It's as good as a move that hits hard, has great range, guard-breaks and is nigh-on nonpunishable at moderate range?

I always loved 8A myself. If any opponent is not pushed back due to an edge, you get a nice grab attempt which can ring out on NH, and one for CH.

Update: Thanks to Party Wolf, we now know that empty jump into 2B causes this glitch as well. Looks like While Landing moves are making a comeback.
yup thats the most understandable thing you just posted. I really thought there was something abuseable hehe

For practical purposes, how do you guys test guard burst setups ?
prepBB x15 ? or 66B+K spam drives them quicker to 0 guard burst ? Is there even a setting to test this ?

from my testing from before, prepBB adds to the burst meter the same as 3B (breaks in 15) but can't break. So spamming it may surprise the enemy.

I'm beyond confused by what the 'glitch' is here, but if at one time moves in crouch broke guard, and there was a 'fix' to stop this and specifically this, one cheap and incomplete way to do that would be to just detect :(2): (or :(2):_:(1):_:(3): ) + "not running".

Like the Oblivion bow Sneak attack behaviour where it's only a sneak attack if you're in Sneak when the arrow hits the guy, so prematurely standing screws you over.

Normally, simple pokes like BB, 6BB, 2B ..etc should do guard burst damage but cannot actually burst the meter. If you do empty 8G into 2B, you'll see it does.

Is it practical at all considering you could have likely just 3(B) for the guard burst into SE b ? nope

but its just describing the nonperfection of the system

I think Mandritti was trying to guess the "Why" of the glitch, not the "What." (How a glitch like this came about in the first place.)

Nope although I been meaning to get off my ass and try to put some info in and help with the punishment guide and make a 4A+B/8A+B/B+K autoGI and evasive guide out of boredom of course.

Yes it is also underrated same with iWR 3B.

Well wrB is in my top ten list so I wouldn't say its underrated.

and FC3B is not bad, but not exceptional. Quite a few lows are -16, which kinda just makes em safe against FC 3B

wrB is nice in that it has okay advantage, good range, spacing on block, and the ability to punish any low -13 or more (a substitute to 6BB sometimes). Lol wrB is sometimes my punisher of -16 lows rather than 6K (poor 6K). Only setback is its linearity.

WR K is also dead useful for moves that leave you in a crouch state.

Pyrrha loves to 66B then use a step attack. WR K should catch her when she does.

Unless she does 22K, in which case RIP. I don't see much use for WR K over FC A in most situations.
