PS4 Discussion

I love the Halo series, but now I am strongly considering getting a PS4 instead of a Xbox when I do get a next-gen console. Ugh Microsoft, why so stupid, please fix your stupid console gosh...

Well Xbox got shat on though they weren't completely hopeless. Not happy about paying for online but its $5/m which is like £2.50/m, which isn't all that. Hopefully still with the Plus content.

Fell asleep during the EA one so I missed most of the stuff.

I fell asleep during the EA one too! But I woke back up in time for Sony's conference.

Not this again reave lol

As many people have tried to explain to you countless times already, DRM always exists as long as online gaming exists, just like it is in the current generation with the online passes that EA is doing (and everyone "loves" them for it). A company that makes use of this model obviously hurts its own sales and reputation, which is the reason why so few make use of it.

M$ is getting shit on by everyone atm because they enforce this model as mandatory, which is the main point of the whole shitstorm.

I swear some people are resistant to logic.

I see everyone says their jumping ship to ps4 until they experience that dreadful online that PS offers. Can anyone post a link to where and how their gonna improve their online gaming?

Before everyone was complaining about Xbox charging for online but now PS is charging and everyone says " its only 5 bucks a month" Lol

Even w/ DRM, I would still buy a Xbox 1 over PS4 until its at least up to par with Live.

This article says that the PS4 will not block used games, but third party publishers still can. The DRM Sony is saying is just standard Online Pass BS will continue and they have no control over that. Sony basically dropped their PSN Pass (their online pass), PSN Plus will have a Xbox Live Gold fee to play multiplayer online.

Besides, that the PS4 is the next gen platform of choose. SONY DID WIN E3 2013.

You raise a good point but i think people are more ok with PS+ because you get free games for it each month, refunds and other stuff, so it actually is a premium service that you (might) want to buy, not just because you can play online.

It still would be better if you wouldnt have to of course.

About the online, PS3 PSN =/= PS4 PSN and X360 XBL =/= X1 XBL. Each service has to prove its worth again.
X1's XBL looks promising so far though.

To me the single biggest factor in determining which system too buy is how good the online aspect is. It was the same w/ ps3 vs 360 there fore I went for xbox.

Sure the PS4 looks great on paper but that doesn't mean Sony got their shit together and improved their online. Once the systems are released, if its worth a damn I will consider buying it. We will see!

really there isnt that much difference between the two services. i've used both consoles and played both of them online, and well, the only thing 360 has over PSN is party chat.

and yea nobody wants DRM. i would rather pay for my online than have manditory DRM. who wouldnt?

I think chaosK above raised a good point too.

Your lying too yourself and everyone reading this if you think that's the only difference. Live net code is and always has been better than PSN. I've owned both systems as well and there is a noticeable difference.

Months after selling my PS3 I purchased another one thinking "maybe I didn't give it a chance" but realized there is a very clear cut difference between the two and returned PS3 after about 2 hrs of their "online".

Edit: still waiting for link of these changes Sony is making to their network.

no, im not lying to myself. there is not a noticable difference. online SC is still online SC, and will always be online SC. CoD is still a laggy POS on both consoles, ect ect. The difference is there, and ill admit that, but its so minimal that its not worth buying a console over unless you really want party chat.

tbh the only one big difference i actually know of is that PSN has slightly more disconnects than XBL. and apparently that is not even an issue if you set up your PS3's internet connection properly.

So where did you return to PSN? on your internet connection or your friends house, which could have been laggier?

Also it could have been just a few laggy games you were playing. 2hours isnt near enough time to judge.

Now im going to tell you again - i play video games for at least 8 hours every day, usually more, and i am constantly playing online and constantly switching between consoles, and i can say with confidence that there is a negligible difference between the services both consoles offer. I honestly think Its all in your head.
