Namco-Bandai Announces Soulcalibur II HD Online!

So there has been a furor during these past few days after it was discovered that Namco-Bandai filed a trademark for "Soulcalibur Lost Swords". Until now, we didn't really know what it meant. Companies file trademarks all the time, often just to cover themselves.

Could Lost Swords be an upgrade to Soulcalibur V? An RPG side-story like Soulcalibur Legends? Or perhaps a free-to-play version of Soulcalibur like Tekken Revolution? Well Namco-Bandai just wrapped up their Comic-can panel... and... nothing. No announcement of Soulcalibur Lost Swords. However, Namco-Bandai has announced an HD version of Soulcalibur II will be coming to PSN and XBL this fall.

The HD release will be from the PS2 version, and include Heihachi and Necrid as guest characters. Link and Spawn will not be featured. Included with the resolution upgrade will be several new modes, including online multiplayer! Masaaki Hoshino is serving as producer for this project, rather than Hisaharu Tago who has been responsible for Soulcalibur V.

I don't need to even talk about how exciting this news is; but let me just say that when it does come out, the 24/7 stream will be moved over to it.

Talim was not popular enough to have her style carried into SC5 so I will be maining her in SC2 HD for sure.

I have seen little mention of Yunsung on these boards so he might be another good less popular character choice.

 

needless to say, I'm excited. SC2 was probably when I was the most competitive and active on these boards.. well not 8way, but sc forums.. can't wait, and surprisingly, hope to see you guys online. (never thought I would say that) but if the online is trash, I'll still be having a blast offline. can't wait to see my 2p kilik hittin the split "I SEE YOU!!" and my 3p Mina rockin the Hanbok! in fun HD.. on my nice projection screen. I r happy.

 

I know. I personally can't wait to see the original, more boyish Talim kicking some tail. Also my best friend is excited about this because he was only good with Voldo in SC2. He never liked Voldo much after that.

Jesus Christ, thats quite a harsh conclusion from one humorously made statement. You really need some humor, you'll need it with all the seriousness you have about this game.

People will be mad hyped till we get pissed off by all the imbaness in this game, so enjoy the time you will have with it.

 

Ya know, Soul Calibur 2, 3, and 4 were not terribly balanced. Most characters were OP in their own severe ways and it sort of helped to give the game a different feel than a lot of fighters. Also one OP tactic could sometimes fight others in different ways.

I guess what I am saying is that even if something is broken, sometimes there are ways to fight that broken style and it makes things interesting.

But doesn't it mean that if there is a way to deal with an OP tactic, said tactic was not OP in the first place?

 

You know what would be interesting for sc2? An overhaul of the conquest mode from the arcade. It can be very much like tekken revolution almost, with the levels and stat increase and you could even throw in basic customization for the casual player. I think it would be an interesting addition for online gameplay and offers an alternative to just straight online versus. I'm thinking team battle online. And if you're not there your ghost is or some shit I don't know. It's 5 am and I can't sleep

 

I wish people would stop making wishlists naming off additional features for re-releases. Be happy with what you get.

SC2 had just the right amount of features 10 years ago. I am perfectly content with a straight port of the source material. The online play is certainly a plus, especially considering that the original Xbox version (the one I own) would have been much better with it.

 

this is great,i always said SC2 was the best but the trouble is its not online,same with SC3 and the other older SCs been better but there not very playable now because there offline

And best of all i get to use the brilliant SC2 ivy i love her so much in this one and really wish her two extra spiral stances didnt dissapear after SC2, too bad my tira isnt in this though

My only concerns are that this will pretty much just be a port over to PS3 and Xbox and some things that really could do with been sorted wont be.

Id say if things like step-g and the glitches like g2, ivys madness etc, and maybe some moves been nerfed a bit for people aren't done then this could end up been really nasty when people get good at the game again and start taking advantage of these things and it could bring people to end up hating it.
I myself have to say if this happens even i might end up hating it and i love SC2 so much, also make sure the online is actually good Namco XD

Wow wow wow wait, WOW, I don't think that's a big enough font MM. Overconfident and incompetent huh? Taki and SCII were the only reasons why I loved and played this game. Ill be as confident as I want and especially against YOU. Don't worry, come SCII you will be one of the first I play ONLINE since I have never seen you offline back in SCII days. You can pick your Cassy and ill pick Taki and it can get destroyed like all the times it has Online by my Viola. Cheers :-)
