Theres nothing unfair about Algol, Yoda, or Vader. Everyone can pick any of these characters. If one of these characters is way better than the character you are picking, how is that their fault? Thats why only banning game breaking glitches are the way to go. People can have their fantasy land where they think this game is balanced but they are only fooling themselves. This game will never be balanced and nor should it be. If you want to play a character thats weak it shouldn't be my problem. Why should I be penalized for picking strong characters to win in a game where objective is to win. You don't build a strong community out of weak minded people thinking about whats fair and what isn't. This mentality makes us as weak as the newcomers who say ring outs are cheap and throws are unfair. This community isn't even competitive unless we think competitively. Whats competitive about picking weak characters and complaining about it?

Um, as much as I love the debate on Algol/Bonus, this doesn't seem the right place for that. This thread is about Yoda. If you wanna debate him again, we can have another thread, but this thread looks like it went seriously off-topic.

Well since you love the master of the force so much let me break it down for ya on why he shouldn't be ban. I'm going to use the agruements people have on banning vader and Yoda.

They don't fit in the game!!!!!!

CY: Who the ivy apple cares about that? I play one of the star wars characters, and I've tried palying vader and yoda. And what I saw were so awesome characters with some kickass moves. Even tho yoda fails hard in SC4, he's very fun to use, and I can respect that. Vader shouldn't even be in this thread at all if you ask me, because to me Vader is like rock, but A LOT better.

Yoda can't be grab!!!!!!

CY: So your point is that yoda can't be grab, right? Well he overall suck so much ass that even with that he isn't nothing, but a slowass character with no 8wayrun. He is super easy to beat in matches. Why? Well his soul gauge is so weak, that it is just asking to be crush. He not very fast, and most of his moves are epic fail anyway. And there is some things he can't block. For example, Taki's little ninja bombs, if the first one is block, the one after that will hit yoda no matter what.

Well guys, from what I have seen from vader and Yoda myself, I feel that they should be allow. Why? Because they don't break shit in the game at all, and were having this stupid agruement over nothing. This is the same way how about Algo being ban. It was still early in the game ,and people just starting making flase crap up about him, and shit. So, let give this one time guys. And that all from the master o fthe ivy apples guys.

Ok after discussing with Organous, I've seen both sides. But in all honesty, when has a boss character EVER been deemed tourney legal.

i havent read all 12 pages of this thread but.......here is my opinion

vader/yoda..should be banned for an agreed upon time period. They are both downloadable content for the opposite system. Give them time for people to get used to them and make them legal later. However i can see a few arguments for that theory as well.

algol....the only reason i can see to ban him is because he blocks the view of the camera with his bubbles. I have found a defense against him that works fine for me, but the blocking of the camera is just plain stupid. I think it would be better if they were clear bubbles you could see through.

Hey, good example Tiamat. But we can both agree that this definitely more not than often. For all we know there could be a few more games out there that have tourney legal bosses. But more or less this isn't the case with the majority of boss characters in fighting games. And as far as iGDR? Yeah Cervy players tend to abuse it....A LOT LOL. But keep in mind that the move is unsafe for the most part. Denying Cervy iGDR is like taking away Sophie's 236. They become less dangerous given their already versatile moveset is what makes them dangerous. Just one less annoyance.

Is Algol really as overpowered as Jinpachi or Krizalid, Dorya? He may be a boss character, but that doesn't make him inherently stronger. You may or may not know that Abyss from SC3 was fucking terrible.

yeah, Abyss was a legal boss character in SC3 for maybe a year to a year and a half until the arcade edition came out, after which he was banned, despite being lower mid tier at best and having an unwinnable matchup vs Xianghua

I knew that would be why they still get the ban. I thought my idea was a little ridiculous but its the only compromise i could come up with, however stupid it was. I agree we americans look for any excuse we can come up with to ban or not like something.

By all means, GOD NO. TDR Jinpachi and Krizalid are a prime example of something I'd like to call "inevitable boss rape". To be honest, those two bosses are THE MOST BROKEN OF ANY BOSS CHARACTERS IN ANY FIGHTING GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. If he was and you guys were still trying to defend his case then I'd honestly believe this were a paradox of thread and more or less be driven to insanity lol. But yeah, you're right. He's not bad, I just believe some Algol users get a little too bubble happy. Now let's say the bubbles did no dmg and the amount that can be had on the screen is reduced somewhat. Also only upon JF would they bounce off stage walls. If they were simply a tool too use as a means to disrupt your opponents flow and open up your offense. That wouldn't be as bad! In fact, I would be more inclined to pick him up myself. That would be one damn technical character if I ever saw one! Kind of like Venom or Testament from Guilty Gear. And yes, I was aware of how terrible abyss was bro. In a game full of characters with broken qualities, I felt bad for him for keeping it real lol!

they banned him because he was not playable in the Arcade Edition. The stupid part is that the Arcade version came out over a year after the console release, yet they decided to try to make console tournaments as if they were playing AE. Stupid, stupid idea. Seeing as how abyss and most of the bonus characters were not playable in AE, they were all banned from console tournaments. Hwang, Li Long, and Amy were allowed because they were playable in AE, completely disregarding the fact that the console versions of these characters are drastically different than their AE counterparts.

Testament and Venom both get great damage off of their projectiles, and are good setups for combos / spacing. Algol has the spacing part, but it doesn't set him up for anything all that great and doesn't guarantee any good combos on bubble hit.

Yes I simplified it, but really his bubbles are shit compared to the fireball / trap game in Guilty Gear.
