Steven was talking about people in general. The set of people who use Google is a significantly better approximation of the general population than a self-selected set of members of a Facebook group dedicated specifically to Soulcalibur.

Plus, Taki has no memorable characteristics. I’d bet one could ask random people whether she’s from Soulcalibur or Dead or Alive and get an equal number of responses for both, even after filtering out those who haven’t heard of either series. At least Ivy’s whip sword is fairly unique.

About what? About the comparison to Naruto that exists in your head? Simple. It's not true, and that's what makes her personality better than a generic one. Now, keep walking away without any evidence of her so called popularity (specially over Ivy, which is ridiculous), because you have nothing to offer here.

Like I said, the search results show that Ivy was at her height in April 2008, likely due to her costume causing all the controversy. Her being in SCV while Taki wasn't also amplified that. It's unreliable. Also, do you have any way to prove that people think Taki is from DOA? Because if I'm not mistaken, she's one of SC's most iconic fighters.

I have plenty of arguments, but you refuse to believe them. I'm not denying that other characters are iconic, but to deny Taki's status as such is absurd.
 
Viola is the only character that actually feels complete to me. From pedobait to something original.

Zwei has terrible costumes altogether in my opinion, but other than that he's actually unique.

Natsu is a naruto genderbend wearing Taki equipment, but they can redeem her. Her 2p and the art ideas for her is better than her 1p. Personality is fine as there's room for growth.

Xiba feels like son goku ripoff, but like natsu they could redeem him.

Leixia is xianghua 2.0. No redemption bar better costumes.

Patroklos design is fine, but his eerily relationship with his sister makes me cringe. Personality wise he's fine. He'll change and become cooler.

Pyrrha designs are fine, but goodness she makes leixia's crybaby look less annoying. She just needs more backbone.

Honestly, the data that @Slade provided for the past 12.5 years is much more reliable than a popularity poll from Facebook. Especially since that poll is literally like what, 1 week or 2 old. Just think of how many SC fans didn't even know about, thus didn't vote.

Or just decided not to vote because they may have lost faith/ don't feel like participating in Namco's shenanigans.
Since history shows they like to lead people on.

Get serious bruh.
 
Wait until SCVI is announced and Taki is in it, watch her data shoot up from the search results.
 
Taki had been in the series since the very beginning and was present in every game until Daishi had to fuck that up. Her absence in V was one of the reasons there was a backlash against the game. While she wasn't the only one cut, her absence was felt the most. This has gone on way too long, to deny that she's highly iconic to the franchise is completely stupid.
 
This is growing tiresome. All this is amounting to is going around in circles, you can look it up yourself.
