Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

I always want to see new character designs and drawn portraits when new SC game comes out. You get the same feeling?

I am right there with you. SoulCalibur V really raised the bar in terms of how beautiful the character select screen looked. I can't wait to see how the new character portraits will look.

I'd really like to see the team battle mode come back. That'll definitely cause people to expand their horizons and learn other characters. Could you imagine the side tournaments that would come of this mode? It'd be entertaining as hell
Yes, yes, yes. I can remember being disappointed that mechanically Team Battle was part of some vs-AI battles in SC4 (as you defeat one opponent another would show up without extra loading), but you couldn't choose a versus Team Battle mode.

Maybe I'm a crazy person, but Team Battle was the primary mode I played in the older SC games.

Same question !
No word on the roster size yet. When I do hear something about it, you know I'll share it.

Are you saying that PassionRepublic's artworks are official?

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it was just for their internal portfolio and had nothing to do with SCVI. Is that the case?

It lining up with what I know and have heard regarding the whole style switching/multiple moveset thing tells me enough that I need to know to believe there can't be a coincidence there, but an actual connection and involvement to some extent back then in the least.

Interesting, thanks for your answer. But still... I don't know if I should believe you or not xD

Many thanks !
Oh, and are you french ?
German.

Wait, so do you think Passion Republic lied about about not being connected to Project Soul?
Let me put it like this: It'd be a hell of a coincidence.

You'll see soon enough. I can understand your skepticism because of being dicked around and it having been almost 6 years since Soul Calibur V came out. It can feel like a lifetime ago. But the wait for a new mainline entry reveal is almost here. Just (try) to be patient.

I have a question for if the PR concepts are true. One them displays a picture of Natsu, but she doesn't use dual kodachi. Instead, she has two swords sheathed on her lowered back, and has two different concepts where she combines them together or summons the power of her demon. Does this suggest that Natsu is in the game, but was diversified and differentiated presumably to allow Taki to return with her classic style?

Visual comparison.

As you can tell here, the weapons she uses are not the ones her master uses, and even in the "main" concept she holds the swords differently. I thought this was a clue back then, think it's one now?

I wouldn't doubt it.
I know people didn't like Natsu, but being a poorly/not developed character at all who's a Naruto reference replacing one of the icons of the series in Taki can't go well.
Despite that, I think they still liked the idea of the character and probably want to try and salvage her.
I'll even admit that if you ever played Project X Zone 2, the ridiculousness of her new characterization on there almost to the extent of parodying the fact she looked like a valley girl and very Americanized, giving her modern slang was almost endearing because it was so questionable and made no sense, that they somehow struck gold in a way by making her actually amusing when on-screen.
I know they retconned her section on the Soul Calibur website (which was up for 3 years) before they took it down.
I'm really very curious how they will handle Natsu if they bring her back, because I could easily see them "rebooting" the character by giving her a different story of some kind, weapon/moveset, and probably even personality.

My biggest hope for Soul Calibur VI is two fold:
1. They take time with it. Namco shouldn’t rush them, let them do it at their pace (even though I understand it is a business)
2. If for some reason they have to make another iteration like they did with SCV with a lack of content, that they will at the very least allow DLC content that’s more than clothing for CaS

I wouldn't doubt it.

Thanks man, this is getting exciting. Updating the roster thread and seeing it grow is going to be kind of addicting, hopefully the roster is good. I'd like to think Hoshino knows the issues SCV had and is trying to correct them.

It's not that they lied, it was more that they "for obvious" reason couldn't tell a thing about it. Telling that it was related to Project Soul would be almost like they're leaking SC6, something that Bandai Namco and Project Soul very likely didn't want to do back then, yet.

Yeah but they said it was for their online portfolio and had nothing to do with a new game. They could've just said nothing and not answered. John emailed them last year and they were pretty clear about it.

I mean it is a possibility that they lied because PS might have asked them not to tell people it was for a new game.
I can see that. If they didn't answer, it would've allowed the hype to grow further and could be used as indirect confirmation that SCVI was real. Considering PR has worked with numerous other game companies and their designs made it in, it's hard to imagine this as being strictly for their "personal portfolio".

Simple, Namco didn't want SCVI to be known yet and wanted all attention on Tekken 7. This means nothing is being rushing.
