Pederasty is not a Greek word, but it is a word that describes the core of what gay relationships were in Ancient Greece. It is the most socially significant form of same-sex relations at that time. And no, gay men are not limited to being passive, and that is not at all what I said or even alluded to. I said submissive men, ie the men who when engaging in sex acts are the penetrated party, were looked down on and chastised by society. I don't know if you know how gay sex works, but one member of the act kind of needs to be the submissive one or else it doesn't work. In relation to some armies recruiting gay lovers in their ranks, yes that happened. Ultimately, though, it's irrelevant, because due to how prevalent pederasty was in Greek culture at the time, their relationship would either be oppressed due to their conformation to society, or one of them would be shunned for being the passive partner in the sex act.
When I said 'we', I was referring to the group of gay video game players that I mentioned when I said 'most of' because it is a group that I am part of. Note, 'most', because I definitely did not say 'all', sorry that you feel left out but that just means I simply wasn't talking about you. The definition of 'icon' however, is
'a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration' so no, just because a niche community of nsfw artists draws a specific character doesn't mean they are an icon. There are barely any gay icons in video games because there are barely any characters that are either openly gay and have a fleshed out character background, or are openly supportive of gay people, their community, and are held to high esteem as a result. Token gays are not icons. However, like I said, being a gay icon has nothing to do with their sexuality, take Caitlyn Jenner for example, she's trans but she's not a trans icon because she's a shitty person, so including a gay man in the game doesn't automatically equal gay icon. The gays choose who they hold to high esteem, and at the moment, the consensus that I've seen is that the women of Soul Calibur, specifically Ivy, Sophitia, Tira, Talim, and Taki are gay favourites. I never said ALL GAYS. So don't twist my words please.
I denied Voldo as a gay icon, cut and dry, and said why. You're the one who said he was the closest to an LGBT+ icon that Soulcalibur has, which I only criticized because your support of that claim is based on sex, which is what you said you didn't want a woman to be an icon for. I was only pointing out the hypocrisy in what you said. It is insulting to say that the closest thing to a gay icon in Soulcalibur is someone who is both faceless and voiceless. End of. Regarding your 'there could be four other gay icons' - no they couldn't. Speculating sexuality doesn't mean they are of that sexuality, and it definitely means they aren't gay icons if their sexuality is being oppressed by game developers. Please don't reduce yourself to patronizing me by claiming you feel sorry for me, because I am highly educated on most things LGBT+. I will not be satisfied by rumours of someone's sexuality. To be a gay icon you need to be an out and proud supporter of all things LGBT+, not hiding in the shadows, faceless, voiceless.
