Sophitia looks really great in that trailer, i got the vibe of Old School Soul Calibur, and not only because of the costume but the overall.
Yep, but the costumes bring back very good memories. Can't wait to see Cervantes in this badass costume:

That's my favourite outfit for him. But the second one - golden armour - is also very cool. To be honest, I'm so hyped to see young Cervantes again.

Guys wearing crop tops needs to be a thing again. I love 90's fashion.

Homosexuality in Ancient Greece is called Pederasty, and was more of a rite of passage for very young boys to be 'looked after' by adults, rather than an actual way of life. Submissive gay men in Ancient Greece were looked down on, and often outcast from society, which means the only option for SC to show a gay Greek man would be either to show a 14 year old boy or a 34 year old pedophile. I doubt that would go down well.

Regarding your complaints about a female gay icon - almost all mainstream gay icons are females, we have Diana Ross, Madonna, Beyoncé, Judy Garland, Bette Davis, Cher.. etc. Being a gay icon isn't about the sexuality of the person, it's just about their contributions, representation, support and appeal to the LGBT community and women usually fit that role because we relate to them more.

You said that having a female gay icon would only promote the idea of it being purely sexual, but then went on to say the only remaining candidate is identifiable as a gay icon because of sex? Also, I don't want a faceless gay representative anyway, that's dehumanizing at best.

Having said that, I would personally love a male gay icon, as long as they were done right - most gay SC players don't play as males because all their personalities are jarring to us and we can't relate to them, that's why we love the girls. With PS's past of strict archetypical male characters though I don't see a male gay icon in our future though.
Pederasty is not a greek word and its definitely not the limit of homosexuality in ancient Greece, its a very specific practice of multiple cultures involving only an adult man and a teenager. Also, gay men were not limited to submissive, that is a rather offensive way to put it, specially because some armies recruited pairs of gay lovers to their ranks hoping that their relationship would lead to them making better efforts to protect each other, causing less losses to the army.

Also, "we" relate to them more? We, who? To begin with, I couldn't care less about the majority of the people you mentioned. And besides, even if they're gay icons, they're not game characters, by your logic, the character with most gay porn in a site could be a gay icon because they are the favourites of the LGBTQ part of the community. So, yes, in a game, if we're going to pick a character to represent a part of the community it should be one that people would relate to for sharing that specific quality.

Also, I'm sorry for you if the closest thing se have for an LGBTQ character is an insane monster, but I'm not suggesting him as an icon, specially because people don't care about him enough for him to be an icon. And yes, it IS sex that defines the character that dresses as a sex slave, what else did you expect from him? I was not the one who added the crotch attack and made it specifically for men. And I also said that at least four characters can be bisexual because of their culture, yet somehow you only looked at one. If you're not satisfied, in the Sengoku period, which is when the SC games seem to happen, some japanese samurai would take young men in their care with a contract, becoming their master, mentor, and, sometimes, lover. That thing is that I can hardly see Mitsurugi getting along with anyone, let alone having a lover.

Yeah lol my other point was 'we just fucking love supporting hot girls' but didn't think it matched the tone of the rest of what I was saying.

When I play Guild Wars 2 I spend all my time dyeing my outfits rather than actually fighting so I don't have time to think about the relation between class and gender lmfao.
Being colourblind I usually dye my outfits using the class main colour without mixing and matching things xD

And I'm too busy fighting in WvW to think about that too actually xD

Never thought about it until now, even though most Sophie's costumes looks good in general, but my favorite costume of her SC3 P2 (The blue one). It looked just too awesome.

latest

Most if not all SC3 costumes looked too godlike tho, ah Sieg P2 OMG

Pederasty is not a Greek word, but it is a word that describes the core of what gay relationships were in Ancient Greece. It is the most socially significant form of same-sex relations at that time. And no, gay men are not limited to being passive, and that is not at all what I said or even alluded to. I said submissive men, ie the men who when engaging in sex acts are the penetrated party, were looked down on and chastised by society. I don't know if you know how gay sex works, but one member of the act kind of needs to be the submissive one or else it doesn't work. In relation to some armies recruiting gay lovers in their ranks, yes that happened. Ultimately, though, it's irrelevant, because due to how prevalent pederasty was in Greek culture at the time, their relationship would either be oppressed due to their conformation to society, or one of them would be shunned for being the passive partner in the sex act.

When I said 'we', I was referring to the group of gay video game players that I mentioned when I said 'most of' because it is a group that I am part of. Note, 'most', because I definitely did not say 'all', sorry that you feel left out but that just means I simply wasn't talking about you. The definition of 'icon' however, is
'a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration' so no, just because a niche community of nsfw artists draws a specific character doesn't mean they are an icon. There are barely any gay icons in video games because there are barely any characters that are either openly gay and have a fleshed out character background, or are openly supportive of gay people, their community, and are held to high esteem as a result. Token gays are not icons. However, like I said, being a gay icon has nothing to do with their sexuality, take Caitlyn Jenner for example, she's trans but she's not a trans icon because she's a shitty person, so including a gay man in the game doesn't automatically equal gay icon. The gays choose who they hold to high esteem, and at the moment, the consensus that I've seen is that the women of Soul Calibur, specifically Ivy, Sophitia, Tira, Talim, and Taki are gay favourites. I never said ALL GAYS. So don't twist my words please.

I denied Voldo as a gay icon, cut and dry, and said why. You're the one who said he was the closest to an LGBT+ icon that Soulcalibur has, which I only criticized because your support of that claim is based on sex, which is what you said you didn't want a woman to be an icon for. I was only pointing out the hypocrisy in what you said. It is insulting to say that the closest thing to a gay icon in Soulcalibur is someone who is both faceless and voiceless. End of. Regarding your 'there could be four other gay icons' - no they couldn't. Speculating sexuality doesn't mean they are of that sexuality, and it definitely means they aren't gay icons if their sexuality is being oppressed by game developers. Please don't reduce yourself to patronizing me by claiming you feel sorry for me, because I am highly educated on most things LGBT+. I will not be satisfied by rumours of someone's sexuality. To be a gay icon you need to be an out and proud supporter of all things LGBT+, not hiding in the shadows, faceless, voiceless.

That armour break when Sophitia's hair came out of the braid was amazing! So hype for this game, the graphics and everything look amazing! Disappointed we didn't get any new reveals though...
