Soul Calibur 6 Discussion

Not really. We'd have to see him before he became a monster and find out why did the cult want him. Besides, more story can only help him considering he has been a waste of slot ever since SC3.

Hey, you take that back!

Besides his fighting style being wicked cool, his story in SCIII actually had potential. Like, oh shit, what have I been doing for the past seven years, why am I a lizard, why isn't Hephaestus returning my calls, what a dick (forreal wtf Hephaestus)

Problem is, they squandered that potential with SCIV and SCV and kept regressing his character. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake with this redone timeline. There's plenty of potential character threads to follow up on. How he was (under the control of Soul Edge) in charge of kidnapping Bangoo, Rock might hold a grudge there. Or how he, Sophitia, and Cassandra all had the same quest, but Hephaestus totally ditched him when things got rough. There have even been small snippets of pre-fight dialogue that suggest these connections, (Sophitia senses Aeon's anger towards Hephaestus in SCIII, Talim recognizes that there's a man behind the lizard in SCIV) they just never capitalize on them.

Instead it's just. OK, this time lizardman is dumber, becauuuuuse... he needs his soul.
Or, OK, forget the soul business, this time lizardman is even dumber and he eats people, becaaaaaauuuuussssse... instincts? And that's basically all he's been doing for 17 years, yeah! Story wrote!

Consider the producer's reasoning behind his alleged favorite character. It's pretty damn obvious Mitsurugi will be very present.

Not true. Mitsurugi was completely irrelevant to the story in later games and he never got cut.
Not really, Mitsurugi is basically a warrior that wants Soul Edge, and he had lots of character interactions. His presence is good for indicating that its not just because one wants Soul Edge that he is connected to everyone else related to it, making the story more convincing. Aeon was only connected to Astaroth in SC1, but afterwards, he never had anything to do with no one else, he didn't even interact with Astaroth in later games. Not to mention Mitsurugi entered the series earlier, and has a much bigger fanbase.

Not really, Mitsurugi completely fell out of the main plot in later games. Anyways, why do you want to take away the one thing that makes Aeon truly unique in the cast?

Guys why are we talking more about Aeon than Reversal Edge? I honestly thought we'd have more opinions being shared.

The only time his moveset was actually good or unique was in SC5, and it was quite over the top. Also potential is something everyone has, lets be real, everyone expected Patroklos and Pyrrha to be cool because they were Sophitia's kids and look how they ended up. Also, Hephaestus being an asshole is one of the reasons I like Cassandra, because she hates him for that.

Many characters fell. Save for Siegfried and Nightmare, how many characters are truly connected to them in the main plot? Not even Sophitia was, until she was forced to team up with the bad guys in SC4, she was always on her own. Also, what is unique about him? Being a monster, like many others? And even then, how does seeing his pre-monster form hurts that in any way?

Alright, people, fair enough. I expected more opinionated reactions is what I meant.

I think it looks sweet but I wonder if it's too powerful/spammable as it doesn't use meter. I also wonder if say someone activates a RE and you attack, are you guaranteed to get hit if you attack without a guard break? or is it so that if you use a quick move you can recover quick enough to dodge and whiff punish?

From what it seems, I can't really call this a reboot so much as an expanded remake. They don't seem to be starting the timeline over as they revisiting old events while adding new stuff. All I ask is that they give me a good single player campaign instead of the half heartedness of IV and V. And a Switch version with Link

I'm so excited with Soul Calibur 6 it looks amazing! And the new gameplay mechanics are very cool and interesting, but the only that worries me is the story! I don't understand is a reboot of Soul Calibur? Will we see what happened after the events of Soul Calibur 5?

That costume was inspired by some Visual Kei bands and some of the fashion in the late 90s of the genre in that it had an historical look crossed with how it was glam goth looking.

Amy's was butterfly. Viola's was moth.

Well isn't moth just a night butterfly?

There I think it becomes a matter of preference. I find Aeon's situation more impactful, since he's been put through this gauntlet of misfortune, and at the end of it (which isn't really the end, since he's still a lizard), the god he's pledged himself to won't even speak to him. It's a pretty cold, direct betrayal.

Cassandra has more of a secondhand anger, and though she doesn't like Hephaestus, she's still doing his bidding, just on behalf of her sister.

It's a shame there haven't been any canon encounters between Cassandra and Aeon. Seems like they'd be on the same page.

I doubt it's a remake, given the hints so far. Why would it be called Soulcalibur VI if it's a remake?

SCVI is a reboot from SC1 to SCV. The SCV story is TRASH. Setsuka is coming back.

I really hope that you are right! And I really need my Setsuka in Soul Calibur 6! BTW I want to see back in the game: Zwei, Viola, Zasalamel, Siegfried, Yun or Hwang, Talim, Patroklos and Tira!
