While I could see how that would appeal to more casual players if they did something like that, I could see that becoming a problem in the long run that would create complaints on both sides. People who would other-wise never hand out free wins taking a loss intentionally to reset the cycle which would force a change in stats if we have SCV-style player licenses back, newcomers complaining about that behavior preventing them from using what would likely be very overpowered if it was made for that purpose, and general complaints about balance. I personally wouldn't want to see something go like that, 'cause I could see it going downhill like that. Balanced out like Goro would be a way better option.

Late 2018 could be a thing, but Okubo did say they'd try to get it out as early in 2018 as possible. Perhaps we could see it out before EVO?

Absolutely, same could be said about Miss Sophitia Alexandra as well.

I hope not just because it would miss the main EVO line-up, which makes it feel like "what was the point of getting it out before EVO when you already missed the cutoff for being chosen?"
They could get it out later in the year and still run a side tournament thing like DBFZ did.
 
It's better to avoid SFV scenario, where the game gets just 2 years after release date what most of the people wanted - Arcade Mode. To be more precise - it's gonna get in January.

I'm saying no to unfinished and rushed games like SFV and FFXV. Release them only when they are finished. I understand DLC etc., but not when DLC is a missing and basic content.
 
Very true. If it missed the cut-off, it'd be pointless. Well, we'll see what they decide to do. In the meantime, time to wait and see the info they put out over time. Anything to make it keep looking better is well worth seeing.

I wasn't a fan of Setsuka's new costume with the blond hair based on her 2p costume in SC3. It was coming away from the geisha inspiration which was a mistake. If she comes back in SC6 then I hope they lean more into the geisha design again.

SC1/2 Ivy is my favorite. Her 1p costume was sexy without going too far like in later games.

I want Taki's face to look more like it did in the SCII intro than it did in SCIV. Imo she was ugly and looked tired as hell in SCIV, but I want her to keep her ripped body. Makes more sense that she's a muscular queen rather than just a skinny ninja like she was before IV.
 
By the looks of it SC4 messed up a lot more faces and designs than I initially thought lol
I think that they should use inspiration from that game very sparingly in SC6...

I think faces were best done in Soul Calibur III, to be honest. Accurate traits.
 
Side note here, but something I find interesting -

I’ve played SC since the second game back in my GameCube days (Monkeyball, Billy Hatcher - good old days,) but I only decided to actually get invested in the game at SCV. By invested I don’t mean time, but rather learning max combos/tech/mechanics.

My question: What is it like for a veteran of a previous iteration to start up a new game? Frustrating? Fun?

I think I remember being wowed by SCV Raph (mostly how OP the idea of double shadow evasion as just one input seemed,) but then slowly realising that I missed things like that B+K stance off of Prep.

I only played Raph and Talim, and not well, in SC4 so I’m wondering if I’ll enjoy the adjustment period coming from 5. I guess I’m mostly looking for answers from people that played 4 at a competitive level and how it felt to jump to 5.

It depends how different the mechanics are and how seriously you take yourself. For me, going from casual SCII and then competitive online at SCIV and SCV was still really fun even though they all played really differently from eachother. You don't have to get good straight away, there's not really a time limit on how long you can take to practice and get good at the game so for me it was a great experience.

Edit : and going from SC4 to 5 was loads easier than 2 to 4 partly because imo 5's online mode was really good, I'm assuming the same will be for SC6 so I doubt there will be any struggle on the technical side.
 
I meant something more like; does it feel jarring to practice a system and then it feels alien? Or more like it’s more of the same, just with a few extra bells and whistles?

Every time I’ve gone back to SC4 I’ve been shocked at how different it felt. I’ve only played 5 with people outside of my circle of friends. We were happy playing Sonic racing, it didn’t matter if it felt like a whole new game. SCV was different though. It felt more like a passion project I really wanted to excel at.

Yeah, I know what you talking about. Other characters also had those dark circles under the eyes, for example, Kilik and Maxi. But I kinda liked that ;)
