please tone him down so he doesn't become a game breaking mess.
He could just be not allowed in ranked and all "serious fight"-type rooms. Toning him down for the player would take away from the feeling that you fight as a boss character.
He loves big titties.
Me too.
Development is currently 70% complete
So, we could expect it sometime in spring/summer 2018? Cool.
The setting will take us back in time, into the year 1586. The keyword here is “reboot.”
That's nice to be honest, they already cornered themselves with SCIV plot and went even further into troubles with SCV.
Some commands that were difficult to pull off up until now have also been made to activate with just one button.
That's very vague to understand. I just hope that they haven't overdone this.
Character creation is something appealing that can’t be taken away, so keep an eye out for that.
Nice.
Please look forward to collaborations with other works!
I just hope those "collaborations" are with something thematically fitting and not some Star Wars bs.
Weeeeell, I actually kinda did, seeing how some franchises are getting stripped of features, but well, my soul is settled now, knowing that it will be in the game. :D
I'm still kinda afraid of that. Just because CaS is in, doesn't mean it's properly in. Look at T7 customisation. I won't be exited until we get proper details.
From here, we can see that the simplified commands are actually for... Critical Edges.
Oh. That's perfectly ok' then.

I'm hoping they do what lbp did with it's creation feature by having it become it's own savedata. It would be separate from the SCVI savedata and the syetm data. The size increases with the number of CaS you create and it's only limited to how big your HDD is. I was hoping for SCV to do this, but sadly they limited it to 50 like SCIV. I'm hoping the creation takes what SCV did and expands on it, like changing eyes and lips (the eyebrows were a good start).

  • The keyword is “reboot.” We reviewed previous entries, and looked back on how users played and received each game.
  • We want players to know the world of the original Soulcalibur by solidly depicting its story once again. Part of that is the hope that not only current players, but also those who played in the past will return.
  • 1586, the era of Soulcalibur, is an era of many unfinished tales.
  • New characters will appear. These will be important characters who have significant involvement in the story and such.
Cool, I'm really interested to see what they're gonna do with the plot!
If Mitsurugi’s lower body equipment is destroyed, he will essentially only be wearing a loincloth.
...Oh.
Oh my.

  • Development was decided from the fact that it is the series’ 20th anniversary and there are still no 3D weapon-based fighting games on current generation hardware.
Its kinda like Tekken, the only one that actually goes on a fighting game that focuses on hand to hand, Virtua Fighter kinda died and there is only DoA5.

Okay, okay, wait! The first message said "We reviewed previous entries", but the other three mention only SC1, so is it gonna be only SC1 or all previous entries?
  • (Will there be guest characters?) “Please look forward to it!”
Oh, really, how surprising!
  • The game will emphasize how you can enjoy the fun of sword fighting with a single button. They are also fixating on production.
Lets be real, you could always do that, most characters have a two or three hit combo in one button, so it doesn't surprise me.
  • If Mitsurugi’s lower body equipment is destroyed, he will essentially only be wearing a loincloth. If Sophitia’s hair accessories are destroyed, her hairdo will change.
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!! YES!! YES!!! SEXY SAMURAI!!! FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP...
  • We also want to offer a tutorial mode.
As long as it actually teaches mechanics, not just stupid basic stuff, that is okay.
  • We feel that character creation is an attraction that cannot be removed from the series. We cannot say anymore, but please look forward to it.
As expected, I hope to see more of it soon.
  • Development is 70 percent complete.
WHOA!!! 70%??? I thought this was gonna be released LATE next year, but 70% means it may actually be released early-to-mid next year, which is fucking AWESOME!!!

  • The basics parts of the battle system, which utilize vertical slashes, horizontal slashes, and running to fight, have not changed.
  • Movement speed and operability are being tuned to emphasize comfort so that anyone can play.
  • The most significant evolution is the introduction of the “Reveresal Edge” system, which is an attack that integrates offense and defense to defend against almost all techniques with a single button, regardless of whether they are high, middle, or low. By mastering this, even beginners can can read the moves of advanced players.
  • The game will emphasize how you can enjoy the fun of sword fighting with a single button. They are also fixating on production.
  • Critical Edges are also being prepared. While their command inputs were difficult in Soulcalibur V, they can be activated with a single button in Soulcalibur VI.
  • There is a system called “Soul Charge,” which is paired with the Critical Edge system. You can power-up for a certain time by expending the gauge. Soul Charge-exclusive techniques are also being prepared.
  • A “Lethal Hit” system is being prepared for advanced players. By landing specific techniques with certain conditions fulfilled, you can perform powerful combos depicted through special production and slow motion. By doing this you can destroy your opponent’s equipment.
  • If Mitsurugi’s lower body equipment is destroyed, he will essentially only be wearing a loincloth. If Sophitia’s hair accessories are destroyed, her hairdo will change.
  • Guard Impacts can be used without depleting the gauge.

Gematsu's translation is far better and with more information that was translated as well.
Can I just say that I love the change of Critical Edges to being one button now? That was one of my biggest game design criticisms as I thought that was one of the biggest failures of SCV. You couldn't even properly capitalize on certain situations because the input could sometimes move you out of range for hitting your opponent with the yours due to it moving you around in an awkward way before doing it. So it just came off as this kinda cool but counter-intuitive tool.

Cool, I'm really interested to see what they're gonna do with the plot!

Equal opportunity fanservice is a good way to prevent people from creating a moral outrage against SCVI's sexiness with certain female characters because if everyone's sexy, no one can complain. :D

Dunno what to feel about the gameplay tho, Tekken 7 gameplay felt too weird in paper and it ended up being the best gameplay of the franchise imo once you play and try it (and many others share this statement as well). So really when it comes to gameplay, there is no better way to have a real opinion about it than try it yourself.

Thanks for that, it puts me at ease. I never thought CEs were hard or took 'skill' to execute so it doesn't matter that it's a single button now.

Yeah I completely agree, having sexy males makes me feel less bad about enjoying videogame titties as much as I do.

Sorry but CaS is a real concern for me. Aesthetics and atmosphere are one of the most important thing for me in any video game, so sorry if i bothered you so much with that opinion.

I didn't mean it like that, and I agree that aesthetics are more important to me than most people, I just expected more concern on the single button issue.

okay so the whole simplified controls, and reverse edge being designed to have a bad player be able to take on a better one sounds really

bad
Though they did state that people can fine ways to counter reversal edge pretty easily so who knows
But yeah you've always been able to do things with one button so why call attention to that? PR Talk? Actually simplifying an already pretty simple game on surface level? Who knows.

If they had a customisable slot for a single move that can then be executed with a single button press, I don't think I would be outraged.

Some people just struggle with one, key, move with a character. They should still be able to play. I just don't see those people being tournament viable either way. Either way, it looks like this isn't what is going to happen, but I wouldn't be outraged with them doing it.

Can you imagine an aPat with perfect twister, but nothing else? Even if he got 2x twister down, I don't see someone like that excelling in anything else.

Maybe implement something like this for story mode? Kinda like T7.

Worried about characters introduced in SC2-4 if this only takes place during the events of SC1.
Same here. Hopefully they'll find a way to fudge the story enough to include some of the fan-favorites like Talim and Tira. I know a lot of people like those two, so PS would probably be hurting a lot of their fanbase if they're not included.

I really want to see Cassandra and Setsuka return, so hopefully PS will figure something out.

Except when it's males being sexy it's a "power fantasy" rather than "objectification" so there will still be a ton of complaints about sexy girls anyway.
I wish your statement was true, but sexy guys will not even remotely stop any complaints.

...As my avatar might suggest, it's most certainly still just as much objectification.
