We can hope. II had the best type and use of character select screen in the series.
Helps that it had one of the greatest character select themes of all time accompanying it too.

I want the Versus Screen Taunts back

Soul Calibur III also had VS Screen Taunts and the character selection screen was cool there too. Here I found a nice comparison (side to side at 3:40):

About the music... both songs were perfect:

I hope they will deliver a nice selection / versus screen and a great music theme like the ones we had in SC II and SC III.

Seriously, the VS Screen Taunts are one of my favorite things about those games and an overlooked unique part of the charm, that I've personally missed dearly when IV and V excluded that for some strange reason.

Here is a good question....
Since SCVI is a reboot of SC1, would you like to see Johan Dürer get more importance given to him, and be made playable by being a non-CaS character with his own moveset? He is a canonical character and part of the story as a background character, introduced on SC1.
And what about some other characters in a similar situation, like Salia, Azola, or even SCIII's scrapped character Edgardo for instance?

So the Namco event is on tomorrow. Can we expect any SCVI news to surface there?
Yes and no. It's a closed press event, so there will be an embargo for a few days to a week. It depends on what the agreed upon release of information is that Bandai Namco outlines.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about Soul Calibur lore, but I had to look up every single one of those characters...I've never even heard of them. And honestly, I'd much rather have our current roster's stories expanded upon rather than have some more or less unknowns fleshed out a little bit more.

I'll translate what you mean - "would you like to see playable Michael Jackson with his unique hat weapon?"lol

Did you guys ever own the Futurepress SCV guidebook? That thing was god damned amazing.

Frame data, hit properties, backstory, art, it was the best gaming supplement to ever grace the cfighting game market.

I really hope that they’re on board again this go around for Soul Calibur VI.

I bought it the day I bought SCV, but stopped reading it after the big April update. At that point, a lot of the info in the guide was rendered useless. I agree the guide was wonderfully made, but patches that change damage numbers and their effects, makes one for SC6 a hard sell

For the love of god

GAMEPLAY RELATED
- no guard meter crush > insta kill
- no meter for GI
- tone down SCV hard knockdown guaranteed okizeme
- one mimic clone please
- full movesets return (gimped stance characters in SCV)

VISUALLY
-disable armor crush for aesthetic purposes
-bring back pre match taunt
-actually show character model on character select screen
-guest character that actually fits in that time era

ARTILUST DEMANDS
-SC2 Ivy stances make a comeback

There's very little chance of them returning to IV's guard crush OHKOs. Certainly haven't seen anything like that in the footage so far.
GI costs, if anything at all, guard meter only, and armour breaking has already been shown.

I'm looking at it with the Dynasty Warriors mentality. lol
Dynasty Warriors games have tons of NPCs and characters that with each new entry (which is a reboot/retelling everytime) they declone characters who were either important or a background player that could help supplement and flesh out either the story or other character connections. So it's not a bad idea.

Salia for instance would be a great additional facet to Siegfried's story to tell and be a character this time around to show that there is a character close to him in Schwarzwind that sticks by him (because she loves him) and took over as Schwarzwind's leader in his absence throughout the years he separates from his band. She could be utilized as someone who stubbornly tries to track him down and help him, show him compassion in his suffering, but he adamantly will refuse and be emotionally distant regarding that kind of connection and relationship with someone (which looking at the current canon, he doesn't bother with it probably because he just feels cursed and doesn't want someone else to have to go through what he's had to to any extent of the imagination).

Having and showing someone directly affected by what he's going through/goes through with the Soul Swords, Nightmare and all that in the early part of the story where it all begins for him to that extent in Soul Calibur's story (now being retold) would be an even better alternative take on the storytelling since you'd get to see and know he didn't have to suffer alone, though he chose to. Not wanting to burden people with his pain and everything he had to go through.

In case anyone is interested in pre-ordering extremely early, you can now pre-order Soulcalibur VI from Bamco site, Amazon or Gamestop:
https://www.bandainamcoent.com/games/soulcalibur-vi#editions

Do be warned however that you may feel insulted that the Gamestop site says it's made by Capcom lol...

The Amazon address is "Project-Luxor-PlayStation-4", which I find kinda interesting for some reason. Somebody mentioned that that was the project name a while ago...

Edit: Saying Amazon automatically links to Amazon here? Kappa When do I get my cut?

Ah, okay. I think I understand better what you mean when you say "reboot". It's not just a "reboot". It's going to be a REBOOOOOOT. In that case, I'd be more than fine with them fleshing out the story and the side characters. I was assuming this was going to be similar to past games (SB - SC4) where the only story you got was a almost 100% non-canon character specific story, and you'd have to wait until the next game to really get any real idea of what happened. SC5 was nice in that it had a coherent story, but time constraints hurt the game so much that it didn't get anywhere near the chance it deserved to really shine.

If it's going to be following the trends of rather hefty story modes, then yeah, it'd be nice to see the game have some more "soul" to it.

But she could never...understand.
