thanks. do we know if she's wielding SC again in VI, since VI is a reboot that's returning the series to its roots?

Yes, Xianghua in SCI & SCVI wields the Krita-Yuga. When X meets Kilik for the 1st time the Krita-Yuga transforms into Soul Calibur because Kilik had the Dvapara-Yuga to keep him sane & wields the Kali-Yuga.

Speaking of Kilik, he & Xianghua have their A+K moves. Kilik's Asura Dance now is his B+K in Monument. Since Monument aGIs all horizontals, Kilik's Monument B+K no longer aGI's Mids at all.

Soul Calibur's supposed to be about shorter combos and back and forth counters and mixups and such, surely you know that by now. Heck didn't they sometimes actively change moves to remove long high damaging combos in SCV?
I really enjoyed SCV, despite it's many flaws. High potential for long combo's in general in that game was one of my cons of that game. I think the real problem with that game is that it dished out meter too handsomely IMO.

Just based off what I've seen in the sc6 videos, meter gain seems to be slower as a whole. I might be wrong though

It's already going to be hard enough for our OP to sift through all the posts here to gather all of the relevant news so we're going to end all of that now.

G1 my hero
Same ZER0.

Going to be building up a library of vids from the EVO demo so bear with me on that front. Is there anything else people want to see on the first/second posts?

Also a reminder: Don't reply to spam or bait. Use that shiny fun report button instead.

Should play SF instead
Really?? I should play street fighter instead? lol scv ive seen ppl get like a 24hit combos with wall splats and such, also with out walls ive seen and have done an 11 hit combo with cervy. scv isn't street fighter mr talkn slick!!

Honestly I never thought of sc of just a tic for tac type of fighter but I kind of liked the stun combos from sc4 and they did kind of do away with them in scv but you can still manage to pull off some nice 6-8 hit combos. then again it is still to early to speculate the actuals until finished product.

Hello guys !

Today I could record some gameplay videos with Djo, a french very good Nightmare player !
Here is the video :

Also i'm sorry, there are many things I don't do properly, as i'm not used to play controller anymore.

I had the chance to interview Okubo-san, SCVI producer for one hour !!! I asked him pretty much everything : Story mode, solo mode, team battle mode, customization, guest characters, switch, cross platforms, netcode, new characters, inspiration for Groh...we've discussed so much about everything ! He may have thought that it's hard to get away from me and my tricky questions :p

And don't worry he now knows about the Siegfried Love and that they would break your hearts if they don't put him in the game. lol
I told him to put 2B from Nier Automata in the game as a guest character, well, he blushed, has been silent, and say "sorry, can't say anything". I'm pretty sure that the name of 2B came in the suggested guest list characters by seeing his face :D, since they are working with Square Enix already for Noctis in Tekken...they're in good business relationships. Sooooo i'm dreaming of it.

He also said something interesting concerning the number of characters. I asked about the 20 slots characters, and he said that indeed there are 20 slots in the demo selection screen, but it's not definitive. So the number of chars at launch may increase. Definitely more chances to get Sieg :p

I'll write the full interview as soon as I can. I'm very happy i could discuss with him and tell him how much we love Soul Calibur. ;)

It appears that way to me that her sword is the hidden Soul Calibur because In every other game she uses “no name” or li quin
The new trailer had Xianghua's SC.

It seems this round of reveals was for central characters while Mitsurugi and Sophitia could have been considered the iconic ones. This probably reassures me that the two boobie ladies are coming next for sure with at least one of the original SC1 men left, guessing Voldo or Maxi.

Yes, Xianghua in SCI & SCVI wields the Krita-Yuga.
  • Krita-Yuga
The sword, at the pulsing force of the evil Soul Edge, revealed its true form as Soul Calibur, the polar opposite of Soul Edge. After defeating Inferno, Soul Calibur was trapped inside of it for the next four years, and after Siegfried freed himself from Soul Edge's control, it was freed from the Tartaros. Siegfried then used it to pierce Soul Edge, and both Soul Calibur and Soul Edge ended in a dormant state, known as the "Soul Embrace".
  • No Name
This Anonymous Sword is Chai Xianghua's signature weapon. After Xianghua's battle against Soul Edge ended, an old man paid a visit to her. He presented himself as a master swordsman, and handed her this nameless weapon, which looks very similar to the Soul Calibur in its Krita-Yuga form, as thanks for defeating Soul Edge. He then left for parts unknown. It has been Xianghua's basic weapon since Soulcalibur II.

Krita-Yuga [SC] = Soul Calibur [SC2] - Soul Embrace [SC3] - Soul Calibur again [SC4 - SC5]

I'm thinking/hoping that we'll see SCII or III characters next, since that's another different kind of batch after the icons and the plot-important characters (plus they're the biggest ones people aren't entirely sure will make it so it'll show that games past SCI are represented). Also Talim and Tira in particular will have the biggest changes in appearance if they keep the ages consistent which is exciting.

Speaking of reveals, when are we likely to get new info next month? Are there any big events on anywhere or is it most likely to just be Famitsu?

Thanks for this, excited to read an interview by an actual player instead of a clueless journalist. 2B is a great guest character choice and I'd love it if she made it in.

Edit: In the video at 2:22, X goes for a GI that's obviously too early but it still deflects Nightmare's attack? Either she recovered so fast that she had time to go for another one, or the GI window is huge. What's up with that?

2B would be a bit non-current for a guest character though wouldn't they? It's far too early for the next Yoko Taro project to be announced so unless there's some Nier Automata DLC coming out next year they'd have nothing to promote.

I'd say 2B has lasting popularity, they'd use her to promote SC6 rather than her inclusion in SC6 promoting the next Yoko Taro game.

Want to go back to Nightmare design. Remember about the Unicorn render I talked about? It's here on this website's wiki. Silly me LOL

I have also noticed that his arm is the same as the original Soul Calibur too! In fact I can totally see why they designed him like that. Most screenshots won't show it well, but you can see he has two horns that go backwards from the right arm fist. Sound familiar? Also the big pointy thing in the stomach you can also see in this render above.

So basically they just made it prettier and added a tattered cape to cover the exposed back. Really good Project Soul. Really good.

I suppose that's possible, though no doubt there'd be some kind of twist to it. Nier Automata may have hit it big mainstream but it is still a Yoko Taro game after all, and there's nothing he loves more than screwing with people's expectations.

On another note I hope we get guest artist original characters again, I prefer those to the normal guests.

It didn't stop them from using Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Way kind of a little bit late on that one.

I think I've said this before but I would personally love to see Senua from Hellblade as a guest. Theme-wise she fits so well and it would be easy to make a moveset based on her fighting style. Personality-wise she could have some very interesting dialogue and it would be amazing if you could hear the different voices in her head whilst playing as her too, criticizing her mistakes and such.

Thanks for everything Kayane ! It's comforting to know that you're the one who interviewed him. I'm looking forward to reading it !
