Siegmare?

I do think its odd that they used the Siegfried model from SC4, or at least to the looks of it seeing he looks older than I think he should be in this timeline and having the long hair... unless they are skipping the events of SC1 and starting him as he is in SC2 more similarly. Though I still want to see a younger Siegfried with short hair somewhere in this game.

Age seems almost irrelevant in SC. Aging characters in V still looked young. To me it seems odd that Sieg would be under NM's armor, when they 'supposedly' are planning to have Sieg on the roster as well. Why wouldn't they just make non-sieg NM? Seems unnecessary.

I'd say mostly because Nightmare is supposed to be a reminder of Sieg's past sins or something like that. Like when Sieg looks at nightmare, he'd be like "welp, that used to be me". Plus you know, Siegmare looks pretty cool, if a little bit like a zombie.

As of this point, I'm still on the fence about Siegmare. No one has been able to convince me without a doubt that Sieg exists in this game as himself.

Do keep in mind that 'siegfried is too popular to axe' is not a valid argument. SC has axed popular characters since sc4.

Who was 'that guy' who leaked info that turned out to be true? I want that person's take on this

This is a good point, I guess that there is no real way to say, "yeah, Sieg is definitely going to be in the game". The "sieg is too popular to axe" is the best argument most people can come up, and to be fair i don't have many things other than that. The most i can come up with is that he has a unique style that is not really seen like it is in other games, the stances are very unique, but the fact nighty has it is a bit grim. However, Sieg has been in every game, in some form, and i find it hard to believe that PS and Bamco will just Axe him like that.

If Sieg is not in the base game, I would say there is a pretty good chance that he will be in DLC. Plus remember the polls in 2016, Sieg was pretty high up, and it would be a bit of a stupid idea to not have him in the game completely. PS does not have to put him in. They can ace whoever they want, it's their game. But that would alienate long time fans.

Myself, i'd say he'd be in the game as either DLC or an unlockable character. The most I can say is that Sieg is a fun playstye, and games, as macaulyn would say, have to have good gameplay and they must be fun, it is as essential as an element for a game. Sieg is fun, it'd be a bit pointless to delete an important character like sieg, just like that.

That's all I can really say TBH, the most we can do is hope, cause the only way we'll be 100% sure is by getting a reveal, or official word on it. :sc1nm1::sc1sig1:

I just feel like, in general, people let wishful thinking dictate. We all want Siegfried, myself included. Imagine if Sieg and NM are battling it out, the helmet gets broken off, and then it looks like Sieg is fighting his evil twin. That doesn't seem right to me.

When the developers said that Siegfried will be playable, they might have been talking about Siegmare. Technically he's still in the game, in a way. Everyone knows how vague the developers can be sometimes.

That being said, I think Sieg's only shot in this game is DLC.

They did say in the Kayane's interview that the story takes place between 1 and 2. So.... just sayin'

Not only Kayane's interview with Okubo, but an interview early this month.

If Siegfried does make it into the game, I wouldn't be surprised if his Soul Charge turned him into Nightmare (a la Kilik's SC). That would sort of make sense in the time between SC1 and 2.

I read the interview, and at the end he made it almost sound as if they hadn't even begun working on SIegfried, and if they did, they wouldn't have time to balance him. That tells me flat out that they never intended Sieg to be in the game.

I still think we're getting him eventually, but only DLC and not in the story line.

I agree, too real man.

While I want more characters than fewer characters, balancing a large roster will be significantly harder for the creators. Much like I'd love to have the distinctive styles of Cassandra and Sophitia, Natsu and Taki etc. it would probably be healthier for the game to only have one of each type.

tldr: I support Siegmare.

Sieg is a rather distinct style, so is cass, but i think that natsu could have a similar weapon to Taki, but probably fight in a completely different way, you know, focussing on Arahabaki magic, or something, i just feel like losing sieg would be pretty trash.
I know. I understand that he's well liked, and that reducing him to "a skin" would be undesirable for many. But I've learned to accept that the more characters we have the more likely the one we like will end up trash tier. I'd rather have 10 characters that play solid 5-5 with no worse than loose 6-4 across the board, than to have 20 and get 7-3 or worse on my favourite character by sheer mishap.

Yeah, it really sucks when trash tier characters exist just to be in a space and never be picked, but sieg and nighty are fairly different, but if one ends up being trash tier, when another character or style could have taken the space, i'd rather have siegmare, but i think PS could probs get a decent balance in.
As long as you don't count X, but that's a given.
And I believe the creators also intended things to go that way, when they said there won't be 20 characters.
I'd take that, as i said, i'd suck to hae trash characters. I'll take back grieve edge over sieg any day of the week though, if they balance it well

also didn't the kayane interview say that the 20 were not final, and there may be more
