Guess The Next Character Reveal(s)!

It's already been stated one of the upcoming DLC is a guest.

So we'll have 1 "Bonus," first day DLC char (could be a guest), 2 DLC chars that are returning characters, and 1 DLC that could be a returning character or a guest (if the bonus char is not a guest, that is).

So we'll get 3 returning chars, and one guest DLC in the first season.

Yunseong is all but guaranteed now since both Talim and Mina are in. He's the last part of that trio in canon.
It could very easily be Hwang instead of Yun Seong...and Seong Mi-na only adds to this possibility so really it is 50/50 at the moment. It is quite likely one of them will be making it in but it is not guaranteed.

Hwang had nothing to do with Talim though.

Talim's story involvement seems to just be getting the Soul Edge shard and leaving her village, because the timeline ends as SoulCalibur II starts (see the timeline above Zasalamel in the story screenshot). Talim wasn't involved with Yun-seong until SoulCalibur III, so it's irrelevant.

Hwang has a much higher chance than Yun-seong, because his interactions with Seong Mi-na were from SoulBlade and SoulCalibur, and this game's point to its story mode is fleshing out stories we didn't get to see before, only read about them in bios or other sources.

I think Lizardman is just going to be a story mode skin with Sophitia's moveset and not be an actual character. I also hope that Inferno is just a skin for Cervantes & Nightmare for the story mode.

Lizardman without lizard moves is no Lizardman at all. I'm putting all my stakes into a modified Patroklos style with lizard moves to differentiate him from Sophitia. And Inferno unlocking as a mimic that fills the hole in the center also makes a lot of sense, almost too much sense.

The Center Space is for CaS. Lizardman will just be story mode skin.

Well I'll be shocked if Hwang gets in over Yunseong. I guess he must not have been too important to the story, or the cast itself since they never bothered putting him back in as a main roster character after SC1. (Sc3 he was a guest, but c'mon... lol). Hwang to Yun basically feels like Rock to Asta. And Rock's been in at least 3 games.

But I feel you Hwang fans. He's been out long enough that he's due for a return.

Everyone's assuming that we'll get back-to-back character reveals from now to the game's release, but let me remind you that there's still CaS and the other single-player modes left to be shown. With at least two thirds of the base roster revealed and only two months left to advertise the game, I would be very surprised if CaS wasn't the next reveal coming up.

We've only got six characters left at best, and five at worst. The slot for CaS will be either in the middle (giving us space for six more characters) or opposite to random (giving us five). If the center is an unlockable boss, it's pretty much 100% going to be Inferno.
  • Via story mode illustrations we know Cervantes is pretty much guaranteed, and IMO so is Lizardman. I understand the ideas about Lizardman being a clone or a bonus character of some sort, but he's definitely become different enough in gameplay over the years that he'll be unique no matter what weapon he gets. His sword also seems much longer than usual in the illustrations, so we'll see just how different they make him this time around.
  • Tira is also pretty much confirmed in my book, not only because of the various hints from insiders and leakers, but also just the fact that she's obviously popular and PS seems to really like her.
  • Okubo has hinted at at least one more newcomer, so Groh's Dad as described by Vergeben seems to make a lot of sense.
That leaves us with just one or two uncertain character slots. Style-wise and considering the lore, Raphael seems the most likely for all the reasons everyone has explained. Amy did better on the poll, but Amy without Raph would make no sense. The inclusion of Mina also makes Hwang a bit more likely because of story reasons, although his style is competing with the more popular and interesting Yun Seong. Cassandra and Setsuka are also very popular and heavily requested, but their relative detachment from the story makes them prime DLC material.

There's also the very slim chance that the dots around the corners are for CaS, adding space for one more slot in the base roster. That wouldn't change much, other than making Raphael a safer bet above and this other slot a 1/3 chance of Hwang-Yun/Cass/Sets. I personally think those dots are just there to make space for DLC, but we'll have to wait and see.

EDIT: And lastly there's also my alternative prediction from a few months back where we get the entire SC1 cast back, but I'm not super confident about that at this point.

@Norik You say slim chance that the dots are for CaS, but what else would they be used for? Bonus characters is possible, but that would only be one. DLC characters would be getting their own slots, using Tekken 7 as an example.

Well there's not a whole lot of space left on the select screen, unlike Tekken 7. Center or bottom-left corner makes much more sense. I think DLC or bonus is more likely.

The four DLC characters could easily go two on the top left and two on the top right (like, to the left of blank space and to the left of Xianghua, also to the right of blank space and to the right of Ivy), that's my prediction. And the two little tiny dots will open submenus that could go up to the middle row and not block the new slots. Then if there's a second season pass, add two more again on either side.

Another DLC slot possibility I've seen mentioned is that the name/time ribbon could shift down to allow more spaces at the bottom.

Tira: TGS
Cervantes: Gamescom
Lizardman: October (Or possibly Gamescom)
Hwang: September
New Character: TGS
Raphael OR Cassandra: TGS
Season Pass Bonus Character: October
Inferno: October

The following could be reversed:
Create-a-Soul: Gamescom
Other Story Mode: TGS

DLC: Raphael OR Cassandra, Setsuka, Hilde, Guest 2

Hmmmm looking at Mokubu's last twitter hint...

"Amazing to see many Talim players.
Thank you
all for,,, ahh time to sleep. Still tons of work to do to deliver the best
SOULCALIBUR. "

A T a S

and since Astaroth and Seong Mi-na were the last reveals.

Perhaps the T is Tira... so Tira for next reveal at Gamescom ?
