Thoughts of Hilde making it to Soul Calibur 6?

Just recently started picking up hilde for SCV and boy am I really enjoying her moveset. I am getting a bit sad that she might not make it. Even if she doesn't make the og roster, do y'all think she can be DLC?

Yeah, but that's the word. Apparently, only some of SCII is covered. We don't know the full story yet.
That is true. The story could also go in a totally different direction especially if time travel is involved a la MK9 to MK10

This is a reboot with a new timeline and I'd expect it to diverge at some point, though I don't know where. I don't think we'll be going back to the SCV era, though.

Same, However, I wish ZWEI would somehow make it back either as dlc or in 7. I know he wasn't the best character, and the moveset was slow but boy was he unique.

I really doubt we'll see anything like that. Time travel just pointlessly complicates things. I also think people are running with this whole "retelling" bit much further than they should. So far, there doesn't appear to be any significant changes. So they are probably only making room for new characters in the story (Groh) and that is about it. I believe Geralt has a spot on the story mode so maybe they'll do something interesting with him. Otherwise i think this will be the same Soulcalibur with not a whole lot retconned.

Hilde will make the roster eventually. Maybe not right away but she is pretty popular and they'd be downright silly to not include her. While Algol isnt quite as likable, i feel his moveset fills an important role as a "i make whatever i imagine" weapon. For a weapons fighter, it makes sense to me that one character is like that. So i think Algol will return as well.

I REALLY doubt SC5 characters are coming though. We MIGHT see something like a CAS only DLC for Zwei and Viola's moveset but that is about it, not the actual characters. I guess depending on how you look at it, maybe you could say that means they are returning.

Zwei was a huge dissapointment for me. Not because of his tier placement but because i just didnt like anything about him. Stance, weapon, wolf spirit, general attitude and style. It was all just terrible.

Its sad because a summoner/puppet master was something i wanted and i know a lot of people shared that sentiment. Everything about him beyond that basic concept was just a big miss with me though.

It's gonna have to diverge if they want to avoid SCV.

What do you mean "avoid SC5"?

They ain't going back to that era again. If it was something they wanted, they wouldn't have rebooted the timeline and went back to the old cast to begin with.

I mean, they can still do it later.
They can, but they most likely won't. You can't build a house on a broken foundation. Why would they even reboot if they didn't feel like they needed to? Think about it.

This is a new timeline, it will diverge sooner or later. I don't think we'll ever go back to the SCV era.

That said elements of the SCV era might still make an appearance. Raphael becoming Nightmare, Amy becoming Viola (or just having her moveset), and Zwei as a character are all quite possible. Anything else though I think we won't see for quite a long while if ever again.

Using the timeline as a guide and also going by what Okubo said, we actually do. It's covering from the end of SoulBlade to the beginning of SoulCalibur II. No retcons shown so far, and no reason to believe that they will have been given. It's the same story as before, but with new details added. Hilde's inclusion chances are DLC at best and SoulCalibur VII at worst, since she wasn't active yet before SoulCalibur II. Zasalamel and Tira have known activity, while Hilde does not. Could they make new story? Absolutely. But with the limited roster space (as far as we know right now), it doesn't seem likely.

SC5 was a huge timeskip. I dont think they need to be concerned about changing much just to avoid that. How many games could they cram in before that time comes?

Groh being a retcon well.... yeah i guess but there is a difference between "telling untold events" and outright changing/altering events.

Actually, i believe in order for something to be considered a retcon, it must change or conflict with existing events. Groh just existing period doesnt really make him a retcon and that could be why he is prominantly featured in the Libra of Souls mode. Or one of the major reasons that mode exists in the first place. The answer is they dont want him significantly altering any events in the standard story but it would be lame if he is compleyely inconsequential. So they cook up this alternate side story to throw him, CAS or anything else that doesnt fit the main storyline.

How do you explain Zasalamel in the story when it only goes up to SCII and he didn't step out of the shadows until SCIII?

Zas is immortal & was unfinished code in SCV. Even though I don't like Talim's fanbase, I'm glad she's in the base roster of SCVI. Zas & Talim being unfinshed code with no DLC plans sucked in SCV and they deserve to be on the base roster.

Groh is kind of a retcon bro...

Along with his papi, Azwel

Yes and Hayate is right about the remaining roster & DLC Characters since Tira was confirmed to be DLC.
