Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children had just been announced around that time, if I recall correctly. So Final Fantasy VII was popular again.

That was released about 3 years after SC2. I knew it had to be off because i remember playing that on Gamecube still during my enlistment years and saw Advent Children sometime after that.

Around the time SC2 came out, i was playing a lot of Windwaker and Warcraft3. Right there is a company they should contact for a guest, Blizzard. Cant go wrong with that, so many characters to choose from but i would prefer they stay away from Overwatch and Starcraft.

Yeah, for as long as MvC is a thing, I doubt anything from Capcom is going to be in the Soul Series. Likewise with Bayonetta, Nintendo owning the copyright for her means that unless the series comes to Switch, she’s unlikely to be in the game as well. That and she’s already in Smash.
I think Sega owns Bayonetta, Nintendo just owns the publishing rights for Bayonetta 2,3 because they funded the development like how Microsoft owned exclusive publishing rights for the first Mass Effect game.

Actually, I think Platinum owns Bayonetta but Sega was the one who published the first game.

1. Please provide an example of this with the exception of Star Wars, because i've already covered that issue.

2. She could never have access to that much ranged options and mobility. If Algol's bubbles weren't acceptable and needed to be nerfed, no way in hell that is balanced with the rest of the cast.

3.Perhaps, i wouldnt be against that idea but if there is a point in bringing in a guest, they will do that as well.
Dude, my point is that she could be adapted to fit SC like anyone else.

I've googled, it's definitely Sega. Platinum doesn't own any IP. Sega doesn't publish because the game was a financial failure. But, Nintendo is willing to publish; even at loss to attract hardcore gamers to their platform

To be fair there are very few more modern characters/popular characters I can even see fitting into Soul Calibur. Perhaps the next dlc character should be a classic or from something wild like Divinity Original Sin II (an example of a completely different type of game).

I just returned from an interesting visit to youtube. Saw a Streets of Rage 4 trailer, Onimusha remaster trailer (which just looked identical to the PS2 version honestly), an albeit fake but very, VERY good looking Chrono Trigger sequel.

Correct me if i'm wrong here because its been a while but Samanosuke's gauntlet didnt do anything besides absorb souls right?

Are we really getting into this?

Because have you played her game?

Why are you so against 2B?

So you can ask me this but i cant?

I've seen enough video of it. I typically do that with PS exclusive titles i cant play on xbox if they look interesting.

I know I've been really pessimistic about the character roster because of SoulCalibur V (the middle block stayed as a block, Dampierre occupied a space as DLC, and the bottom roster ended up with mimics, a clone, another version of a character replacing an established character, and a boss) but if it wasn't for what happened there, I would honestly be predicting a roster that looks like this at this point in time:

Code:
            | Raphael | Siegfried | Zasalamel | Nightmare | Cervantes |
            | Xianghua | Maxi | Sophitia | Astaroth | Ivy |
            | Yoshimitsu | Kilik | | Grøh | Voldo |
            | Talim | Mitsurugi | Geralt | Taki | Seong Mi-na |
Creation | Azwel | Hwang | Inferno | Lizardman | Tira | Random

This is a realistic and reasonable prediction without me doubting or expecting too much from Namco. This is also based on leaks by the way.

Also, regardless of how crappy the game's base roster is, I will still buy and support the game. I want the franchise to continue despite these hiccups.

I just don't really know what is going through a lot of you all's minds when you're doing your character positioning.

@artard4321 -- doesn't this make 100% more sense? I did nothing to your structure or number of slots, just reordered them:
Code:
            | Azwel | Siegfried | Zasalamel | Nightmare | Lizardman |
            | Xianghua | Maxi | Sophitia | Astaroth | Ivy |
            | Yoshimitsu | Kilik | | Grøh | Voldo |
            | Talim | Mitsurugi | Geralt | Taki | Cervantes |
Creation | Raphael | Hwang | Inferno | Seong Mi-na | Tira | Random

---

Edit, addendum: I don't really like Azwel on either corner, top or bottom, though. I can't see him as anywhere other than bottom middle, but then that doesn't leave Inferno anywhere else that makes sense either, other than the center slot, which you've left blank. Or he could go to the right of Azwel, but then that puts Seong Mi-na on the left side, so then I'd put her in the corner, but then if I put her in the corner, opposite Lizardman doesn't make sense, but Hwang does work for that, which is what would then put Seong Mi-na in the corner opposite him, but then you'd need to move Tira inward, as well as Raphael, but then that moves Inferno again, so he'd be bottom right corner, but then you could possibly argue that Random is going to be there and the bottom right little circle is gonna be some kind of other submenu, it's a struggle. But still, I can't really agree with the original positioning at all.

Alternate maybe:
Code:
            | Hwang | Siegfried | Zasalamel | Nightmare | Lizardman |
            | Xianghua | Maxi | Sophitia | Astaroth | Ivy |
            | Yoshimitsu | Kilik | | Grøh | Voldo |
            | Talim | Mitsurugi | Geralt | Taki | Cervantes |
Creation | Seong Mi-na | Raphael | Azwel | Tira | Inferno | Random

I'm hoping for Red XIII. This game doesn't have a Gon or Yoda sized character yet.

As much as I love FF7 and all its characters, Yoda was a god damn nightmare.

The only acceptable ones from a big IP is a Castlevania character

It would be sick if we could get Alucard SOTN era. Highly unlikely but I don't think anything could possibly make me any happier.

@DanteSC3
I actually positioned these characters with the thought of Azwel, Hwang, Inferno, and Lizardman as unlockable characters. I would initially have Lizardman next to Nightmare to complete the Schwarzstrom quartet but if he is going to be unlockable then he could be at the bottom row.

Also, the ones I listed on top has some form of relation to one another and Soul Edge. Raphael being the guy who freed Siegfried from Soul Edge, Siegfried being possessed by Soul Edge turning into Nightmare, Zasalamel the guy responsible for reviving Nightmare, Nightmare the embodiment of Soul Edge, and Cervantes the first in-game wielder of Soul Edge while being placed above his daughter Ivy.

Characters to the left are more attuned towards Soulcalibur while those to the right are more attuned towards Soul Edge. The middle characters are the more special characters being Zasalamel (Abyss), Sophitia (Elysium), Geralt (Guest), and Inferno. Azwel is put onto a corner because Algol got the same treatment in SoulCalibur IV and it would make a lot of sense to put Azwel next to what I perceive to be where the created character slot will be placed because of Libra of Souls.

To be honest though, I don't really care much about where the characters are being slotted as much as if the character is even being slotted at all. The only time I actually care about character slot placement would be if they cram all DLC characters into one slot. Now that would just be really ugly, lazy, and unintuitive.

I just see the character being slotted and where they will be slotted as two answers to the same question, personally. It's entirely possible I'm thinking about it too hard, but that they've seemingly placed everyone so far with relationships with each other, for the rest to just be random wouldn't make as much sense. The unlockable folks could also just as easily be on the corners instead of the bottom row, since those were the newly added slots. It could go a lot of different ways. But I think the only two characters who won't be unlocked from the start will be Inferno and Azwel.

Final answer:
Code:
           Hwang Siegfried Zasalamel Nightmare Azwel
           Xianghua Maxi Sophitia Astaroth Ivy
           Yoshimitsu Kilik Grøh Cervantes
           Talim Mitsurugi Geralt Taki Inferno
Lizardman CaS Seong Mi-na Raphael Voldo Random Tira
                       DLC4 DLC2 DLC6

Alternative:
Code:
           Hwang Siegfried Zasalamel Nightmare Azwel
           Xianghua Maxi Sophitia Astaroth Ivy
           Yoshimitsu Kilik DLC2 Grøh Cervantes
DLC4 Talim Mitsurugi Geralt Taki Inferno DLC6
Lizardman CaS Seong Mi-na Raphael Voldo Random Tira

Hmm i think Tira goes in that spot under Cervantes. I feel like she's different from the other DLCs. In that she was intended to be on the standard roster but didnt quite make it or something like that. All future non-guest DLCs add on the far right and left starting from the bottom circles. Inferno goes on the top left opposite of Azwell. The middle spot is reserved for a new guest, directly above the current one we have now.

That is my take, i had hopes that maybe Algol will show up for that top left spot since he was the only proper "rival" i could think of for Azwell but after more thought, i suppose it also makes sense to put Inferno up there and put another guest in the middle.

I dont think they will bother with Edgemaster assuming Inferno is the random mimic for this game. Not after the triple mimic debacle of SC5. Obviously him being in and having his own moveset would be spectaculoustacioustically wonderful but that is wishful thinking.

@LisaK
I don't think so, 2 mimic are too much. If we have Inferno, maybe Edge master will be a Inferno CAS in story mode only
The top left should be Hwang. Asian hero vs Asian Boss, maybe ?
Tira should be under Cervy

Maybe DLC will be added on the two sides of the roster like SF5
