"CaS really isn't a concern for the majority of the 8WR community. The only reason CaS has it's own separate forum in the first place, was to segregate it from being posted in other sections." - This is a response to trying to get an update to the CaS part of the website. It has now lead to me being intrinsically curious about the issue.

Is Create-A-Soul Important to you as a member of the 8WR community?

Please answer this question with Yes or No and feel free to explain your answer below.

I shall be keeping all voters hidden so please be as honest as you like. Once you vote your vote is final.

Debate: I believe that Create-A-Soul helps rather than hinders the competitive community. It is often because of CaS that people find 8WR in the first place. I remember finding this place when I was younger because I was looking for CaS. I am awful with creating things so I was looking to see what other people had created. It is because of this that I actually discovered the more competitive nature of fighting games.

In my opinion bringing more people to the website can only be a good thing. It is good for the community and it is good for the competitive scene. Many people that start off as fans of Create-A-Soul eventually find themselves invested in either playing competitively themselves or watching other people compete.

I do not believe that you have to be one or the other. You don't just have to be a competitive player you can enjoy the creation mode or the story modes as well.

The first few months of the game we're going to see a ton of new people to the game interested in it for a variety of different reasons and a good amount of those will be for the creation aspects; especially since Soul Calibur has embraced that it is the game with the best creation feature of any fighting game. They might not start out as hardcore competitive fighting game enthusiasts but there is nothing to say that they won't find themselves falling into that crowd by simply finding the website.

This is the best time to try and help increase site traffic (which is great for supporting the website financially) as it will be during this period of time that we'll see the most new people to the community.

Building the community and embracing all aspects of what makes Soul Calibur great is the most important thing if we want the game to succeed and eventually receive support or a sequel (in less than 10+ years).

Just my thoughts on the issue.

Anyone who knows me on here at all knows I voted yes. I think CaS is one of the things that makes Soul Calibur stand out from the other fighters. It's for me the only reason I buy Soul Calibur. I like fighters, but I like being creative and creating my own characters as well. As a result Soul Calibur is basically the only fighter I buy as it's the only fighting game where I can make my own character, at least the only one with a decent creator. Without Soul Calibur there's pretty much no fighter I'm interested in. I suspect I'm not the only one, and as such Soul Calibur fills a very important niche to people like myself due to CaS. Without CaS, me and others like myself are left with no good choice in fighters by our standards. As a result, people like myself for who Soul Calibur is the only option, are a gaurenteed sell that other fighters will not get.

Unfortunately since your post is in the segregated forum for us lesser humans I don't think your thread will get noticed very much and thus get fewer votes than it would in the forums for the important people.

It's important to me for a lot of reasons imo.
It was what first swayed me to get my first SC game.
As a person with a hugely creative mind, yet zero artistic skills I am able to create characters I never would be able to. I enjoy art and design but I'm largely terrible at it. I can do pixel art and that's about it.
Sometimes I just blank out and see what characters I make when Im blanked. That's how I created my first "stick around characters". I create things a lot so I quickly ran out of space. But through CaS, I got to create characters I grew fond of, and then learned to use. I never really bothered much with the main cast until more recently.

The way that I do things in my mind lead me to create personalities for each character I created. I tried hard to make sure everyone was as unique as possible, now everyone is just as much a part of the cast as Voldo or nightmare to me. I even got inspired to write a book based on the characters I had created. I'm in the process of writing it right now.

My main save for scv currently has about 18 characters, each with at least 2 costumes. Ive gotten to the point where deleting these characters would hurt. Changes feel weird now. Im really excited to see how everyone will look in sc6. CaS also helped me get over a depression with my own world, but the main cast was just as much of an escape as anything.

Essentially, CaS is by far and away my favourite aspect of SC. I'm not sure how I would feel if it wasn't there. Without it I wouldn't even be here, cause I wouldn't have bought my first SC in the first place.

I should probs stop ranting at this point. But I'm very passionate about CaS as you can see. Maybe for this thread to get more exposure you could link windup skeleton or brucege.

I'm out lol.

I voted no to troll this whining thread
Perfectly acceptable if you don't mind though I would actually like to hear an explanation. Currently the thread is primarily in favor of and I would like to see reasons why people would be against it as well as in favor of.

Yeah it probably won't. Unfortunately had I posted it somewhere else it probably would have just gotten moved anyway. I'm trying to adhere to the rules currently in place and am not trying to cause unnecessary strife.

I think it’s a draw for sure but after V, I can understand the haters getting mad about the lack of other content as well as the thunder god drum issue.

I voted yes as for the other poll.
I gave SC5 CAS editor my "artistic" soul for a couple of years.
proof here if need be (put in spoiler tag because i don't need views or anything, just posting for nostalgia's sake and for the music as much as the CAS) :

So either i start recreating my vanilla SC5 CAS in brand new shiny UE4, or (hopefully) i can do something really fresh provided new parts are available to play with...got a few ideas for sure.
What i fear the most is the time i might spend on this, playing the game, and posting stuff here of course :)

Anyways, agree with all what you guys said...

@VILARCANE
Bro, your stuff is incredible! Great use of all the various CaS parts.
I like CaS, yet I only manage to make shit. I mostly use it to fine-tune main roster members' appearances (this got harder in V since only a handful of costumes were available as DLC). I still think its important though. Having control over characters' appearances made me take more interest in them and try them out for gameplay.

Thanks, spanky, means a lot coming from a knight like ye. Let's say we are yin and yang, you probably are the better online contender. Never have been more than an average fighter online but i knew the CAS editor in and out, around and beyond. I guess its like the fighting, it'll come back in a sword slash :)

Fully agree with you about the handful of roster original 1p/2p, so lame, we whined a LOT about it back then, to no avail.

Why, thank you, bro! I am honored in return to get such nice remarks from a CaS badass! :]
And yes, I remember those days when we were all bothered by the lack of more roster-related CaS parts. I'm glad they brought some stuff back from old games and are actually letting us use 1p stuff this time! *____* This could be my motivation to get better at character creation.

The Anti-CaSers only hate us cuz we kept the forum going strong like 4 years after SCV competition died.

@Gatsu: Trolling is life.

Can’t wait to see what @VILARCANE has to offer. Looking forward to seeing my OCs in action, being able to take proper screenshots of them, and having a good art reference.

Why, thanks ! I think i'll start a fresh thread now i can get high quality pictures and vids thanks to xbox one x, better get rid of the old stuff, which is summed up in the vid anyway.

I tried to look at your CAS thread, 404...

Not to get moderated, i'll try this...
I browsed through your blog, quite intriguing short texts, poems (love the one with the japanese words, inverted haiku or something) and other stuff...by the way, you know i am french and write short stories in english (fantasy and sci-fi mostly). Talk about a weirdo :)
