Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

Another way to add characters that don´t belong in the story or aren´t that popular would be just adding their fighting styles and costume parts, like with devil jin in scv.
we can build them and story does not get affected. Everybody wins.
But that makes the character, not tournament legal so it's not that good, Devil tool ages to be allowed in tournaments.

Might be just unfinished they didn't make the 3D model yet (but then again, why then bother including her in the mode, it's really weird :o)
Using the SC4 model and hair and giving her some new piece of gear and in the same time giving her some CaS accessories like the little roses on the sides. This is the biggest thing she have going for her (and Cassandra and Edge master I guess too xD)

Actually, there's a little detail on the datamined model that makes it seem like more than just her IV model with some parts from VI on it. The eyes. Amy has red eyes in IV (as she is a malfested), yet they went out of their way to change the eyes to green. Why would they add that detail, unless they're working on a fully realized model based on her VI design?

Because it's literally just adjusting a value in whatever editing software they use, if that

I've evaluated her eyes (granted, the picture's quality isn't the greatest) and the colors look to have more of a gradient than a simple palette swap would. The details in general look a lot better than a hastily thrown together stand in meant to be left on the cutting room floor.

They should do setsuka, she fits right in and they could have her backstory and how her master lost to mits. For the last scene they could end it right before that epic soul calibur 3 opening scene.

I wasn't really onboard for her at first but after seeing how the story was handled in this game, I'm open. But for the love of Algol, please have her designed be based around SC3 with her dark hair lol.

As for Amy, I guess it's true that age shouldn't really be a factor since by the end of Raph's story, she seemed about 13 or 14 and Talim is 15 and seeing how she looked by the end of the story, it seems like her design looks like something they'll want to finalize into a character model. In fact, her, Cassandra, and Hwang (even though his design from the portraint looks like his SC1 look), they all look like they're itching to be finalized and made into characters. And I'm open to seeing them or at the very least, their playstyles.

I don't know about that that Tira's age doesn't seem right in this game though, she is 17yo in SC3 but here she doesn't look any younger that that, 17yo at least to me in this game, but those are fictional characters again so age and appearance don't really match up (Ivy is one good example too xD) at the very least she isn't 11 in 1585 might be wrong but don't know (by the old time line she was born in 1574).

I'm not sure the age really means anything here anymore, Talim is a kid, not that younger that Amy so it doesn't mean we can't have Amy too, plus Talim for now is the only character to go over 1590 and there is still some room left on the right after 1590 so it is still possible even if the fact she wasn't trained yet was right.

Oh, and if we go by the old timeline Talim was 15 (born in 1576) that means that in 1589-1590 (when she appears in this game) she is only 13-14yo xD

Oh man I agree. Tira actually looks older here than she did in SC3. They made her face look more mature and if anything, she should've had this face in SCV. I do like they made her design a mix of her SC3 1-player & somewhat 2-Player looks though, it looks a lot better than her 1-player outfit from SC3.

That all being said, I seriously hope we'll be getting more DLC outfits for Creation because while the selection they have is passable, I've found myself using some of the same items multiple times, there just isn't that much to work with for those of us who like to really get into it and try not to use the items more than twice lol. I still would love to see old costumes from previous games (SC1-3, 4 & 5 are a given since they should be easily transferable). Just be sure to break the parts down lol

Just one question:
Wouldn't it be better for Bamco to just reveal the rest of SoulCalibur VI's DLC now/very soon to help boost their sales ?

A lot of us are having fun with the base game and its content, but I'm sure they would attract more people to buy the game and its season pass if they reveal the remaining DLC sooner.

Pretty much, yeah. If they have plans for any early bonus stuff we'll likely hear about it any day now, though even if they do they're really gonna need to start talking about their season pass content. I think people are gonna want a general idea of what they're buying with the pass, especially now that the full roster is known and people have questions/concerns over certain omissions. It's been almost a month since the last content reveal.

I was just thinking how they could reuse assets, and it would be kinda interesting if the guest was Menat from street fighter using violas moves. They fight very similar and it would slow Viola fans to have moveset back.

Agree, a fighting game stays relevant by the dev team and publisher keeping it relevant.
Hard disagree.

An active and engaged community is also necessary. If fans aren't playing a game, no amount of DLC can salvage it. MvC Infinite is the perfect example.

And on the other side of the spectrum, an extremely passionate community can keep a game around, even in the absence of dev support. Melee is a good example of this.

In conslusion, ask not what SoulCalibur's dev team can do for you. Ask what you can do for SoulCalibur's community.

SC always had a solid community.

Okay, so we had 1 female and 2 male silhouettes before. They were extremely vague, only apparently signifying gender. And... now that 2B has been announced as the guest character, she just so happens to fill the female silhouette space.

@Vergeben implied we were getting Hwang and Lizardman as DLC, which would align with these silhouettes. Is his source right? When will we see them? I guess time will tell. Vergeben, if you're still around, could you let us know how sure your source is on that?

The silhouettes mean nothing. There's another version of this image that had three male silhouettes, and Talim's mini-figure from Best Buy was teased as a male knight that looked like something out of Dark Souls. It's still very possible that the other two DLC characters could be female, just as well as male, we don't know anything yet.

I'd agree if not for 2B taking up the female one specifically and what Vergeben was implying before.

Welp, Vergeben was dead on the money, so that means the last two DLC characters are Lizardman and Hwang. Since Bamco seems to hate the Soul series, and SCVI isn't a total smash hit, we probably won't get a second season pass, and development will be ended right after this. It looks like fans of Cassandra and Amy will never see those characters playable again :(

(They were probably intended to be before development was cut short)

Rest in Peace :sc4amy1::sc4cas1:

On the plus side, if he's had months of development past what we've already seen, aeon's probably full SC4 lizard and then some.

I think we'll come 50-50 and get Amy and Hwang, since those two are teased to be fighting and yet not actually seen fighting. Cassandra doesn't do any fighting, though it could be argued that she'll get some fighting if she comes with a Soul Chronicle story, of course, it's just weird that Amy and Hwang have fighting scenes off-camera.
