Title Collection - Missing a Few

DanteSC3

[14] Master
Just curious if there's anyone else out there who's trying to get them all, since I'm struggling to find the last couple. @KageKazenami clued me in on going back to Libra of Soul to defeat all the Ancients / master all the weapon styles to unlock an extra quest through Edge Master, which I wouldn't have thought to do, since it didn't seem reasonable to do everything on a single character (and, well, it's not...), but I'm really not sure what else could be done to get these last few titles.

I've done all of Soul Chronicle, all of Libra of Soul (twice!), completed Arcade on every difficulty for gold ranks, and I've done a good amount of just getting random battles, because I've heard but haven't seen direct confirmation that one of the titles I'm missing is a random encounter with Voldo in the Middle East, which I'd believe, because one of the titles I do have (Fu-ma's Shadow) was a random encounter with Taki (in Europe, around the Mediterranean Sea), which I imagine the trigger condition would be that you'd finished Taki's quest, which I did. I also completed Voldo's quest, as well as Nightmare's quest, both ways, on my good and on my evil character. But I'm not having any luck (assuming there is also a Nightmare random encounter) with these random encounters, if that's what they are, spent a few hours in the Middle East, and then I gave up and did an hour or so in the northern section, thinking NIghtmare may be up there, around Ostrheinsburg's northern edge.

The titles I'm missing appear to be related to Voldo and Nightmare, and there's a third mystery title that could be literally anything, even something like "collect all the titles", perhaps, as one of my thoughts. The only other titles, aside from these, that I don't have are all of the Soul of <x> titles, but I'm working on getting those as I grind myself silly trying to find these random encounters in Libra of Soul. That last mystery title might also be related to getting all the Soul of <x> titles, I dunno.

If anyone does have these titles, and has some better direction than just "do random fights in this general area", then it would be extremely helpful. I just keep running into the same few encounters, and it's getting quite tedious, even more tedious than it was mastering all the styles, since with that, I was all over the place, for variety's sake, and doing Astral Fissures, so I got to see some cool custom characters while I did it.

I finally managed to get Voldo's title, and I also discovered the mystery title, too, which is "Leader of Thieves" -- you get this from defeating all of the bandits related to Ruslan, the weapons merchant you run into on your way to Kashgar. You can fight them all in the Middle East, and I found them without too much difficulty between levels 45 and 55. If you're level 90+, you're just going to fight Unknown the Edge Master all day, so it's not worth the struggle. But you'll fight four of them, ranking bandits from number five to number two, and then a mission will unlock where you originally encountered Ruslan, where you will fight number one, the boss, and upon defeating him, you'll unlock the title.

Voldo is also in the Middle East, and is fightable after you've completed his quest after hearing rumors of the Money Pit and fighting him. He's kind of annoying, because you can only really hurt him with Critical Edge attacks. And you have to win two rounds. But pretty easy to find, as long as your level isn't too high. I also reconfirmed for myself that Taki is fought around the Mediterranean Sea, not too hard to find, as long as your level isn't too high.

All of these encounters are "mysterious" and have the purple banner instead of the normal A WARRIOR STANDS IN YOUR WAY message.

I still don't have Nightmare's title. Never shall I wake have all the titles...

Thanks for explaining that. I had an issue where I fought three of those dudes but the fourth would never spawn. I was pretty high level by that point though. Guess I'll catch it during my blue-side playthrough. Frustrating that the encounters stop functioning correctly when you get to a high level.

What are the requirements to unlock the “Soul of _____” titles? I have two of them, but I have no idea how I unlocked them.

I haven't counted the exact number, but you get it for using a character a certain number of times. Maybe 50? I think it was 50 in SoulCalibur V. I've just been getting them in Libra of Soul as I do the random encounters, swapping styles out when I've unlocked a Soul of <x> title. I mastered all the styles on my first character to get Transcendent Blademaster, too, so that certainly helped get things started. I also used different styles on my second character.

Only Inferno is going to be a pain, since you'll have to do that in Arcade, as you can't make a custom character with Inferno style or use him in Libra.

The two you did get naturally, are probably from the first style in Libra of Soul you took to mastery, and maybe the second or what you played online.

I do spam a lot of Ivy and Cervantes games, that makes sense now. I thought getting a character’s mastered libra title was enough to unlock the “Soul of_____” titles.

Ya, title collection is a pain, I’ve been slowly trying to get mastery on rest of the characters. I’m not sure what triggers some of these quests. I remember unlocking The Sophitia quest line after I hit level 99 in libra and I was doing random respawnable side quests. I have no idea what proc’d that quest to appear.

I might make a 3rd save file and play libra slowly to hunt down the titles I don’t have. I know my first two playthoughs I only played main story line and then do side quests after. It seems like doing that method makes you miss out.

Nah, mastering a style in Libra of Soul unlocks the fight with the Ancient, and defeating that Ancient gives you the red Master of <x> title. Doing 10 of those unlocks a fight with Inferno which will give you the "Evil Incarnate" title, and doing 20 of them will unlock another fight with Inferno which will give you the "Transcendent Blademaster" title. You have to master them all on a single character. All of the character quests, as far as I can tell, are just unlocked by progression and keeping up to date with reading the rumors in various towns, and I'm sure some unlock with leveling up towns also.

"Leader of Thieves", "Abyss Watcher", and "Fu-ma's Shadow" are the royalest pains, not sure why they decided to tie them to random encounters.

And whatever Nightmare's title is for... I just really have no idea. If I've gotten all the Soul of <x> titles, and I still haven't found it in a random encounter, I'm going to go ahead and assume that it's not a random encounter, but it's not related to his character quest, but it should be, so it may be glitched? I hope not. That would be annoying, to not be able to get the last title.

Just a random idea, does playing all of the battle tutorial in libra unlock anything? I have only done the very first lesson.

By itself, no, but completing all the lessons does unlock a series of quests that do lead to a few titles.

More speculation on my part.

Nightmare is only active during a certain timeframe in actual Soul Calibur lore. At least up to the point where Kilik defeats him. Perhaps he appears in a specific year in Libra of Souls.

Prologue of Libra starts in 1584
Final Chapter Libra epilogue takes place in the year 1587.
Kilik defeats Nightmare in the year 1586

I can only conclude Nightmare is encounterable before his canon defeat to Kilik.

Oh my god, if that's what it is, I swear, whoever decided this is just incredibly evil, and I have to make a fourth character now, because I got the last bunch of titles just after defeating Azwel, which coincides time-wise where NIghtmare is defeated.

Well, the good news is that I've finally gotten all but Inferno in the Soul of <x> titles. The bad news is that a good amount of exploration in 1585 (chapter 3) with Nightmare's quest completed has yielded no results.

Exploring right now for Ruslan's, however long that's going to take. Taki's I assume requires enough story progression for her first quest to appear? As for Nightmare's, year matching up would make sense, so I'll stay in 1585 like I am now and do whatever is available for a while. It's a vague possibility, but I wonder if maybe going without doing Nightmare's level 60 fight until after Schwarzwind and reaching 1585 could be conditions. Otherwise the last possibility I've considered will annoy me to no end if it ended up being the answer.

Edit:
The last possibility is Edge Master's dialogue in the weapon mastery questline. He mentions if we succumb, we will become another Azure Knight, which is another name for Nightmare. Each of the purple titles being things like that, most of which were used for the respective characters' trailers, it would almost make too much sense. That said, this would require being evil, going down that path, and choosing Soul Edge instead of Calibur to be permanently evil after that relatively bothersome final fight in the quest. I could only hope they wouldn't be so cruel, and would have to wonder why they put it behind so much effort and time if they did.

Are you on the good or evil route for your 4th playthrough?

Perhaps Nightmare also only appears in one route.

I've made a mix of good and bad choices, just pretty much picked whatever, but since Taki, Voldo, and the bandits don't care what alignment you are, I'm pretty sure that Nightmare wouldn't care, either. I'm currently more good than bad, but I really don't think it matters. I'm going to back up my save, go forward to chapter 4, and see if that makes any difference, as long as I don't get to the part where Azwel is defeated, I think that should still be early enough, if your theory is right. I'm at work tonight, though, so I won't be able to do anything else until tomorrow morning.

They're just talking about the level 60 Nightmare fight that we already know about. They said they were level 30 when they fought it (as is about what you would be around that point in natural progression. After doing that fight, you're given the option to run away (good) or fight (evil), but neither option really does anything of real substance. Doing the fight itself doesn't award a title, but it would be a fair belief to say that you have to do this fight prior to getting the supposed random encounter, much like in order to get Voldo's random encounter, you have to have done Voldo's personal quest, and to get Taki's extra encounters, you have to have gotten her first encounter in the story where she warns she'll be tracking you for evil intentions.

So, the supposition is that you should do this fight (it disappears if you wait too long), and then get a random encounter with Nightmare, perhaps around the same area (around Ostrheinsburg, maybe Meditteranean Sea like Taki), but that you'd have to do it before ending chapter 4. I've been poking around for a while in chapter 3, and it hasn't done any good, so maybe you actually have to be in chapter 4 but not finish chapter 4, I'm not entirely sure. That reddit thread, though, isn't giving any new information.

Over half way through mastering the styles in LoS, evil route. The Inferno fight has appeared, but I've ignored it so far. Anything else I should try?

God damn this ancient Voldo though. This jerk already gets extra health, and he blocks everything! Get like 4-5 guard crushes on him per match 'cause nothing else goes through. I guess I could try baiting him, but I'm really bad at reading Voldo.
