Well, did all of Libra and the weapon mastery on the Soul Edge side. Nothing special.

Well, that's one more thing I guess we can cross off the list. I'll be testing today, doing random encounters during chapter four, since chapter three didn't turn up anything. I'm already level 55, though, so I'm hoping I won't outlevel by the time I find it. Whoever decided to ruin the random encounters really didn't think this through, or they were just evil. But the real mastermind may be whoever did Nightmare's title.Well, did all of Libra and the weapon mastery on the Soul Edge side. Nothing special.
I just got the “Abyss Watcher” title myself on my level 99 save state. I randomly got a voldo encounter while traveling to a location in the western ocean. I’ve clocked probably 20 hours + on this save state and this was the first time I got this quest.
I’m just confirming it is possible to get these random encounters at level 99, but at a very low chance.
Are all the bandits random encounters while exploring? Or are they random quests that respawn. I’m trying to get the “leader of the thieves” title myself.I finally managed to get Voldo's title, and I also discovered the mystery title, too, which is "Leader of Thieves" -- you get this from defeating all of the bandits related to Ruslan, the weapons merchant you run into on your way to Kashgar. You can fight them all in the Middle East, and I found them without too much difficulty between levels 45 and 55. If you're level 90+, you're just going to fight Unknown the Edge Master all day, so it's not worth the struggle. But you'll fight four of them, ranking bandits from number five to number two, and then a mission will unlock where you originally encountered Ruslan, where you will fight number one, the boss, and upon defeating him, you'll unlock the title.
Number five, four, three, and two are random encounters, purple like the others. Number one is a normal quest back where you first encountered Ruslan, which appears after you've done the four random encounters. Are all the bandits random encounters while exploring? I don't now if this will be of any help (my guess is no), but there's at least one encounter with Nightmare that isn't the Lv. 60 fight. It takes up the first 43 minutes of this video:
It's one of the astral fissure sealing missions during Chapter 5. I didn't see a title get awarded, though, so I don't think this really helps.
It does at least tell us, though, that there can be a fight with Nightmare -- or this Berserker facsimile of him anyway -- in 1587.
Yes, I definitely finished the story quest for Taki. I stopped my character right at Athens before the Azwel fight. I was reading some dialogue carefully. I finished the nightmare encounter at level 24 or so.@DYY, being certain, you've done the "Warning" story mission with Taki? I'm quite certain that's a prerequisite in order to get her encounters.
But yes, rare random encounters in general are a pain, no matter what the game. I'm kind of used to the idea, growing up playing tons of JRPGs, but that doesn't really forgive it. And the worst part is, the Nightmare title might not even be a random encounter at all, as we really do not know what the requirements are. It could be, but it couldn't be, and until anyone unlocks the title, it's really anyone's guess.
Was it actually listed as Aeon? I remember fighting Ivy both times, but I can't for the life of me remember when I took on Astaroth to get his title or how, and I actually don't recall a proper fight with Aeon myself, but that may be because all AI with Lizardman's style seem to be very easy and forgettable. I've been pre-occupied trying to further improve my skills with every style and learn more, so I haven't really experimented for what feels like a while now. Not properly, at least. If that's the case and there's a way to line up the fights with those 3 and Nightmare while you're technically with Dion, then that may very well work. Never actually thought about saving the fight for late into the timeline.
My only other speculation which I strongly doubt would be to have your soul strong enough to draw Nightmare's attention so-to-speak. But, that's not exactly a viable option since Astral Fissures aren't nearly plentiful enough by then, and you don't get to fully fill it out during the story for both good and evil. If your theory doesn't do it, and the option to run instead of stay and fight doesn't do it, then I flat out feel it's best to just assume it can't be done for some reason right now and is bugged. If it is bugged, I hope it gets brought up to Okubo or one of the devs soon, so it can be sorted. That empty slot in the titles list is irritating at this point.
