Title Collection - Missing a Few

Well, did all of Libra and the weapon mastery on the Soul Edge side. Nothing special.
Well, that's one more thing I guess we can cross off the list. I'll be testing today, doing random encounters during chapter four, since chapter three didn't turn up anything. I'm already level 55, though, so I'm hoping I won't outlevel by the time I find it. Whoever decided to ruin the random encounters really didn't think this through, or they were just evil. But the real mastermind may be whoever did Nightmare's title.

I think the only way I won't be bitter in the long run is if the title is "Knight of Mare". That might earn a chuckle.

I just got the “Abyss Watcher” title myself on my level 99 save state. I randomly got a voldo encounter while traveling to a location in the western ocean. I’ve clocked probably 20 hours + on this save state and this was the first time I got this quest.

I’m just confirming it is possible to get these random encounters at level 99, but at a very low chance.

I got that one too, but I was grinding a moveset I was unfamiliar with, and promptly lost the battle. :D

If only someone can datamine exact unlock requirements lol.

More speculation on my part, since I’m trying to interpret the Soul Chronicle timeline.

Azwel’s cutscene with the conduit (the player) takes place after Kilik defeats Nightmare, thus if that cutscene is seen, my assumption is that you have progressed too far in the Libra timeline.

Unless I misread the timeline, I think that is the order of events.

Basically, don't finish chapter 4, seems to be how I see it, if the timeline is truly involved. But I've done a fair bit of exploring in chapter 4, now, and haven't had any results, in the 70s now, level-wise, spent 40-60 in chapter 3, with no results. I really am running out of ideas, though, if this isn't it. It'z bizarre that Nightmare only has the one appearance in all of Libra of Soul, even if Libra of Soul is focused on Grøh and Azwel, as well as your involvement as the Conduit. It's baffling how you can fight Inferno so many times, and only Nightmare once.

It's possible that I'm just not having any luck, but with you guys also trying, you'd think at least one of us would happen upon it, unless we're just chasing up the wrong tree. But in that it's true that it has to be from Libra of Soul and that it has to involve Nightmare, then I'm not sure what other logical conclusions can be drawn. There should have been an achievement for getting all titles so that there would be more people trying to figure it out. There's not really any motivation to do this unless you're an obsessive completionist, but damn it, I am one of those, so I suffer, I suppose.

I know your pain with the obsessive completionist thing. That's quite literally the only reason I'm still going into Libra at random and trying things instead of focusing on player and ranked. Regardless of any attempts made, I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. The fact it's yet to be found by any of us or in general far as I know of is surprising. Better be a big deal made of it somehow in-game, otherwise it being so well-hidden isn't gonna make any sense. Granted, it already doesn't make sense with how easy most are besides Taki and Voldo being the only random-encounter types.

Annoyance aside and back to usual, I suppose a theory or 2 I have yet to test but will in due time: We all know how the story-line splits off to pick between working with Dion or Natalie for an Astral Fissure each at one point, and Dion's specifically mentions that Nightmare's apparently been wandering around there at that general time. Also obvious is the fact that we have only the 1 encounter with him at level 60 normally, but what if we're not actually meant to engage him at that point? Can't recall at this point, but doesn't that fight disappear and an eventual encounter with Siegfried instead if you progress far enough? I know that happened on my good playthrough because I couldn't be bothered with the level difference, though I don't know if that's just based on being good or not. All I can say for that is that I never encountered Siegfried on my evil playthrough.

My best guess is it's either something to do with that, or you need to wander around hoping for a random encounter once you've gotten up to going with Dion to the fissure, though that could end up a waste of time. Still gotta wonder why this title of all of them is so elusive. Also kinda wish there was more hidden to unlock than titles to give people more incentive to try and figure things like this out. Probably would have been found out by now, that way.

Edit: Or, ya know, the reasonable possibility that it's bugged and not actually accessible for whatever reason. Really hope that's not the case, though.

I finally managed to get Voldo's title, and I also discovered the mystery title, too, which is "Leader of Thieves" -- you get this from defeating all of the bandits related to Ruslan, the weapons merchant you run into on your way to Kashgar. You can fight them all in the Middle East, and I found them without too much difficulty between levels 45 and 55. If you're level 90+, you're just going to fight Unknown the Edge Master all day, so it's not worth the struggle. But you'll fight four of them, ranking bandits from number five to number two, and then a mission will unlock where you originally encountered Ruslan, where you will fight number one, the boss, and upon defeating him, you'll unlock the title.
Are all the bandits random encounters while exploring? Or are they random quests that respawn. I’m trying to get the “leader of the thieves” title myself.

Number five, four, three, and two are random encounters, purple like the others. Number one is a normal quest back where you first encountered Ruslan, which appears after you've done the four random encounters.

I don't now if this will be of any help (my guess is no), but there's at least one encounter with Nightmare that isn't the Lv. 60 fight. It takes up the first 43 minutes of this video:

It's one of the astral fissure sealing missions during Chapter 5. I didn't see a title get awarded, though, so I don't think this really helps.

It does at least tell us, though, that there can be a fight with Nightmare -- or this Berserker facsimile of him anyway -- in 1587.

Astral Fissure doesn’t count. You can encounter any character or CAS there.

I’ve spent more time in Libra of Souls than I would like. I managed to encounter two of the bandits from mysterious opp, but I can’t seem to get the remaining bandits, quite frustrating. I have also encountered Voldo at least 4 times now in random encounters, and I have not encountered Taki once. I’m on evil route for libra and I have explored nonstop. I fought the level 60 nightmare fight in that play though and explored that area hoping for a random nightmare encounter.

Libra has captured what it is like to search for Soul Edge -.-

Everyone seems to turn up empty handed, just now how the official story is handled.

@DYY, being certain, you've done the "Warning" story mission with Taki? I'm quite certain that's a prerequisite in order to get her encounters.

But yes, rare random encounters in general are a pain, no matter what the game. I'm kind of used to the idea, growing up playing tons of JRPGs, but that doesn't really forgive it. And the worst part is, the Nightmare title might not even be a random encounter at all, as we really do not know what the requirements are. It could be, but it couldn't be, and until anyone unlocks the title, it's really anyone's guess.

Yes, I definitely finished the story quest for Taki. I stopped my character right at Athens before the Azwel fight. I was reading some dialogue carefully. I finished the nightmare encounter at level 24 or so.

Back to the Dion mentioning Nightmare. I did choose to go after Nightmare with him and encountered Aeon, Ivy, and Asth. Does Dion “follow” you in a sense? Perhaps the previous poster was correct and you have to do the level 60 nightmare fight with Dion following you. This is purely speculation on my part, but I’m running out of ideas too. It would require another playthrough if I wanted to experiment with that aspect.

Was it actually listed as Aeon? I remember fighting Ivy both times, but I can't for the life of me remember when I took on Astaroth to get his title or how, and I actually don't recall a proper fight with Aeon myself, but that may be because all AI with Lizardman's style seem to be very easy and forgettable. I've been pre-occupied trying to further improve my skills with every style and learn more, so I haven't really experimented for what feels like a while now. Not properly, at least. If that's the case and there's a way to line up the fights with those 3 and Nightmare while you're technically with Dion, then that may very well work. Never actually thought about saving the fight for late into the timeline.

My only other speculation which I strongly doubt would be to have your soul strong enough to draw Nightmare's attention so-to-speak. But, that's not exactly a viable option since Astral Fissures aren't nearly plentiful enough by then, and you don't get to fully fill it out during the story for both good and evil. If your theory doesn't do it, and the option to run instead of stay and fight doesn't do it, then I flat out feel it's best to just assume it can't be done for some reason right now and is bugged. If it is bugged, I hope it gets brought up to Okubo or one of the devs soon, so it can be sorted. That empty slot in the titles list is irritating at this point.

You fight the trio in one party, that is definitely Aeon, he has a unique model that you can’t CAS.

I think it may be safe to give up for a while, or at least I'm going to. I can't think of any justifiable possibility at this point, and nothing's worked after this long. Either it's bugged, or that's gonna stay as the one and only title I lack for a long while until either someone finds it, it gets fixed, or I happen to find it whenever I've decided to mess around with it again.

A darn shame. I've been doing research daily watching YouTube videos in the hope of seeing where someone uncovered this -- alas, nothing.

I'm almost ready to give up myself.

Well, as much as TC's having problems getting Nighmare's title (which, hint hint, all the character's title names are based from the "trailers" they appeared with their "title" on their, which NM's should be "Azure Nightmare", I suppose).

Either way, I'm already getting through everyone's weapons maxed, though I don't have either Taki's or NM's personal title yet, even as so much going in circles to it. Maybe I'll find it, maybe I wont, but who knows.
