Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

They seem to be just randomly porting CAS materials from IV,V and Lost Swords.

With that being said, it's clear that all DLC characters are being made with "new" costumes. So if Rock is indeed returning then the old rhino helmet is irrelevant. It will just be a way to make his old 1P, just like how Tira and Siegfried got SCV outfits.

The new characters will come with new clothing/outfits as way to slightly "pad" the customization options.

Oh i'm fully aware all characters will come with updated designs.

Speaking of which, this brings up an interesting question about Hwang now that the second season is supposedly leaked. Most people seem to agree he's on it, yet i remember myself and a good number of people assumed he was doomed not to show up seeing as he did not receive an updated design.

So now i'm wondering if they are in fact going to just keep the same outfit in his case?
Or will they ignore the storymode artwork and just change it anyway?
Or should we also consider "YELLOW" does not equal Hwang and he is not actually returning?

I'm putting my bets on a new design. It'll probably be a similar case to Amy's designs in Raphael's story episodes, where she starts with her SC2 peasant attire and then changes to her DLC getup after a few in-game years. They could do the same thing for Hwang; SC1 design during Seong Mi-na's story arc, totally new design during his own. However, this is under the assumption that his story will take place after Mi-na's, but I think he's gonna get a new costume anyways, especially if everyone else in S2 gets one.

Pls.

Many here don't see much use for the fan service stuff but one can get creative to tone it down. This is just a basic exercise to test what new combinations one can use when you want to use a few of those fan service armor parts. I think it came out pretty decent without diving into stickers and the other two accessory slots.

SoulCalibur VI basically confirmed this in Mi-na's Soul Chronicle.
I don't think that really confirms that Hwang was Assassin in SoulCalibur II. I think him appearing like Assassin was simply a throwback or an Easter Egg since Assassin used Hwang's moveset.
The Assassin in SoulCalibur II is just generic Assassin not named Hwang the same way that the Lizardman in SoulCalbur II is just a generic Lizardman not named Aeon. They appeared so many times without any backstory and is just there as "filler" for when you need to fight a non-story character.

As an Assassin main in SoulCalibur II however, I think it would be pretty cool to add the mask as a character creation part when Hwang becomes a playable character as a throwback to the generic Assassin that used his moveset.

Assassin being Hwang in SCII was always ambiguous but at this point it's fair to say that thee Assassin in SCII is Hwang and one of many assassins that use the same weapon. I get the feeling the team ran out of time to flesh out Hwang so did a quick work around as they did with Berserker as he's practically Rock.

@artard4321 @sytus @Dissidia All true statements, it's not that Hwang was literally every Assassin at once, that's just silly. An army of Hwangs would be like an army of Chuck Norris, too much for the world to handle. But SoulCalibur VI did confirm that at least one of the many Assassins was Hwang, like one of the many Lizardmen was Aeon, and maybe (the least likely but still technically possible) one of the many Berserkers was Rock. Meaning that it's very definitely possible that we can get an Assassin costume as DLC to go with Hwang when he's released, much like we can get (finally) various Lizardmen armors when Aeon is released and various Berserker armors when Rock is released. It's a great moment that can be realized if it happens.

@DanteSC3 I don't think Rock is Berserker, that would imply that he's malfested and opens a whole can of worms lore wise, it's just that I think the team ran out of time so used the moveset to fill out a lore roll. I mean the berserker in SC3 is completely different not only with it's armour but uses a lance plus Rock is in SC3.

I mean I agree with you, I'm just reaching for DLC costumes for Berserker. Rock's ending in SoulCalibur III even has him obtaining Soul Edge, holding it in his hands, and being perfectly sane. It seems like Rock is just too pure to ever possibly be malfested. If we were going to get an Assassin Pack and a Lizardmen Pack anyway, though, we may as well also get a Berserker Pack.

I feel like DLC costumes are kind of unlikely because they can just use the CAS clothing option as an excuse to "make your own costume" but maybe they have said something about DLC costumes recently? I'm not sure

On the other hand, with the positive results of strong sales and excellent reviews overall, I wouldn't be surprised if they can do more with Season 2 DLC because they have earned millions of much needed cash to fund any future DLC and SoulCalibur VII. I would hope that is the case and they release more original content and continue giving bits here and there of exisiting assets from the past games for free. Even as little is it is, it was nice of them to release some free CaS pieces for those not fortunate to have the 1st season pass. Maybe with the large inflow of cash, they can make changes to the CaS system itself now that they would have the money to hire more hands.

Back to my earlier fan service post, I took a quick stab at Pirate Mina. Still iffy on what colors the duffel bag I used to cover her bra should be and what patterns/stickers to use. Then I used a vest to cover the sides more, the downside is that it blocks the logo on the coat but at least the vest covers her down to her waist. I used a skull sticker at the front, wasn't sure what to use for the back of the vest.

Not too shabby in my opinion, it could use improvement with more time invested. At least for those not big fans of the original fan service set could do something similar to create a female pirate character that doesn't belong in a strip joint. Seong Mina looks much better above than the fan service stuff below correct? lol

My guess is that Cassie will end up getting another kind of Bob Cut and lose her Skirt on Armor Breaks. Hopefully she’ll have nice long boots without prominent heels too.

And the fact that pantyhose is tied to a Playboy costume still pisses me off.
