What kind of characters would you like to see in future SC games?

Do you want to see Ashlotte in Soul Calibur six?

I'd like to see characters appropriate or make use of guest styles or moves. Maybe combine multiple guest movelists into one character and cut out the useless moves.

I think anyone can be salvaged except for Yoda due to his height and weird hopping moves.

I really hope the characters from COTS as well as the three shopkeepers return with their respective weapons in SC6.

I want Edge Master with a unique moveset with the longsword he's always depicted with.
It's so aggravating that he has this super cool sword that he never uses or is even modeled in-game.

Would be a cool to have a character based on Nefertiti?

I admit it's a bit hard to imagine her as a fighter, but maybe there could be a way, i mean there's probably a way i think.

But man Iman as Nefertiti was so QUEEN AF, i never realized this much, probably because my main focus on the video music was always mostly MJ insane talent on singing and dancing, but this Nefertiti representation was actually just too good, if not perfect. Did some researches on some other girls that cosplayed/disguise as her and still none come close to this.

I see ZERO weapons here buddy. Was neferti famous for using a khopesh or something ?
You can make a CAS based on a few photos, but you're asking for project soul to base a character because you saw her in a music video ?

Yeah sure i know she doesn't have weapon, that's why it won't be too easy to create a fighter based on her

I meant in term of visual, personality and charisma, my suggestion is because she's cool

In all honesty we have absolutely no African representative in the cast (which is additionally annoying considering we're having like a dozen of far east characters plus scandinavian that resembles a k-pop star). Going off with an Egyptian-inspired character would be a really good start

I feel ya. We have Zasalamel, but he's not associated with Africa/any sort of African culture. He's just a dark skinned guy who "looks black." It would be refreshing to see some representation from a variety of continents and nations. Inevitably they'd be brought out of realism somewhat and into a more fantasy-based depiction, given SC's aesthetics, but it would definitely be cool to see anyway.

Edit: what I meant about Zasalamel is that he isn't identified as being from somewhere in Africa, or Egyptian, or anything explicit, if I remember his character profile correctly. We just know he's meant to be "the black guy" on the roster.

Well they are just custom characters, but there's the tribal Black Panther Warriors in Libra of Soul, they're clearly hailing from and representing Africa.

I feel like Zasalamel was meant to be Egyptian, but because of the taboo subject of Ancient Egypt and the debate: "We they black, Semite, Arabs ect?", they just created the character as they wanted to without giving him a proper country origins ect.

Good point. I actually wasn't a fan of Libra so I didn't get far enough to encounter them. I still hope maybe someday we can get actual roster members tho...🤞

In the spectrum of traditional warrior to anime fantasy fighter, Zasalamel sort of slots in the middle. I'd put him somewhere near Ivy / Tira where the animations are polished so there is a lot of mo-cap, but the weapon itself is completely fictional. His "lore" origin can be all over the place, since he keeps reincarnating and he happens to stick with this body during the SC story.

Are people just demanding a dark-skinned character with African physical traits ? Moveset/weapon can be entirely fantastical, or based from another region ? I think this is easier for a japanese game developer to do.

-or-

They want an authentic traditional historical african warrior ? The game's always been about taking a cool weapon and making a unique moveset first, rather than superficial cosmetics such as race/sex/backstory.

I just don't like it when people ask for "African Representation" without even mentioning a weapon/warrior. Its tokenism because it shows how little thought went into it other than just ticking off a box for race.

I don't think people want an African rep just to tick of a box for diversity or race points, but just simply because it would be cool to see an African character in the game. If we were simply looking for a character specifically for race, then we already have Zasalamel, but his place of origin is unknown. An African character would be something new that we haven't seen before, and I think it'd be a welcome addition.

If people want a specific type of African for a character, then it's better to say Sub Saharan African or Bantu representation. People need to understand that Africa is made up of many different ethnic groups because of how gigantic of a continent it is. The Sahara Dessert is the size of the United States that makes travel of ethnic tribes incredibly difficult to traverse, hence the separation of Bantu and Arabs.

It's relatively easy to answer this. Ancient civilizations were located around rivers because of fresh water and agriculture. Take into account slow travel (travel between tribes in today's continents was a rarity and practically none of this world international stuff), harsh environments restricting migration and it's easy to see that Egyptians are not Bantu.

No.. this is exactly it.
You just said you wanted an African character solely for the sake of this character being African. You can say its cool.. but if you do NOT articulate the reasons why, then its going to look like box-checking.

What weapon ? What fighting style ? what type of warrior ?
Khopesh (curved axe/sword) ?
Iklwa (short spear) ?
Kpinga (throwing knife)?

Those are the only 3 I know about, unless you want to count the knobkerrie throwing staff thingy.

Perhaps an Ethiopian shotel sword user? Or perhaps they could use the jile (sort of curved dagger)?
You could definitely do something with the Songhai and the Mali Empire Even though the Mali Empire was kinda sorta little-bit falling apart
But hey, you could make a story on that! My OC who comes from the Mali Empire looks to find Soul Edge in hopes that it'll push back the Songhai and regain their lost land.
Maybe a warrior from the Kingdom of Kongo? I'm pretty sure the Portuguese settled there by the point of the story, so maybe they hear about the swords from them and look to find it for some reason? They could use an nzappa zap, which is kind of like a tomahawk.
A spear/spear & nguni shield would be a little basic and kiiinda stereotypical, but it was a very common weapon.

Ooh! We could get a spear and shield user this way! :)
(I mean, all the other suggestions are solid, too. My hyperactive little brain just keyed into this particular option, lol.)

It is mostly about getting more unique designs, fighting styles, weapons and take more inspiration from regions of the world that are left omitted. I would welcome an African character as much as I would a middle east one (my first impression of Azwel was leaning towards that region), or Indian, or northern Asia, or eastern Europe. There is a lot of potential for new cast members which hopefully they will reach to in the future

Typed in Bantu Warrior to see what one would look like and came across this. A mechanical spear shield would be pretty fucking cool. Personally I would like to see Talazia from Weaponlord brought over because everything about her screams exotic.
