α Patroklos General Discussion/ Q&A

There is no magical way that will make you become a master of just frames. Execution takes practice, practice, and more practice. Most people would say a stick is much better for just frames, but it really depends on what you are most comfortable with.
While a stick might be better for say JFT or 2143b:b because of the motion, its about button press timing w/ others like 1a:a:a or 1b:b.

Say, I've been having a lot of trouble with APat's just frames. Is there any tips on how to execute them better, I'm pretty hopeless because i'm getting most of them which isn't much with by button mashes. Also, is it easier to do just frames on a pad or on a fightstick, pretty lame question but I would like to know. C:

Stick or Pad completely player preference.
As for just frames, 1B : B, 1A A A, FC 3B B muscle memory, try tap it out and get use to rhythms.
For the others, simply press extremely fast JFT try doing it from FC, once you get the hang of it, then do it with the 214, and aGb, I assign B to a shoulder button, so I slide from a to G, and tap the shoulder, about 95% execution rate with that.
Good luck

There are high level and top level aPats who compete on pad and about the same number on stick.

Anybody know an Alpha main on hitbox at all?

It wouldn't have been, but it was dragged out so long, and you're odd behavior brought it to knowledge. Anyway, it's done now.

Yes well I'm trying to put that paticular chapter of my life firmly behind me so I'd appreciate it if it wasn't mentioned again.

Many thanks!!! I realized I can use one of my BK Shoulder Buttons for it! Thank you :) As for gamepads, I've realized the standard ps3 controller doesn't do the just frames as easily with a fightstick what i've seen from MyNameisE's APat's just frame timing mp3. It must be easier execution with a custom pad. If this is true or not please let me know, otherwise it's just me who can't seem to do them right. And I'm talking about 1BB and 1AA,i've managed to pull off his turn away B+K, B JF but I think that's just me needing some practice to pull it off more.

I disagree, not trying to blow my own horn, but on SCIV I had an almost near perfect execution rate with Setsuka's and Amy's just frames, if only I knew how to use them back then :(
However different just frames, are inherently easier on different pads, e.g Xbox controllers can be quite awkward for new players to do slide directional inputs, in contrast to PS controller where the directional buttons being smooth.

On the other hand a hitbox would be perfect for doing tekken just frames as they require mainly accuracy instead of speed, so instead of trying to cram e.g Ivy's CS input into a small space with some margin for error. Mishima JFs e.g require df to pressed at the exact time as LP so speed isnt the most important, but accuracy is.

For the sakes of alpha speed and timing are the most important factors and is why no specific control is better than the other, simply down to player preference.
Hope that helps/.

I've always thought just frames could always be executable at an insanely high rate. Maybe's it's because of the Japanese players I've seen, because Woahzz wears bandaids just for the sake of doing them. Other than 1B.B and 1AA.A, i have no troubles trying to perfect Patsuka's style.

For people who main alpha they're rate for moves like FC1BB JFT 1BB are usually fairly good.
For guilty gear, I use to either blow a hair dryer on my fingers before playing so the skin would be glide easier, or wear finger tips from gloves

The thing with Alpha is that if you don't have very good and very consistent execution* then you should just play Omega. Alpha is played on pad and stick competitively so it doesn't matter which, though as a stick player it astonishes me whenever anyone has good execution on pad. Wolfkrone and Harrypotter make my head explode, lol.

Some characters gain or lose depth offline depending on the input method however, eg. Ivy:
If the Ivy player is on a stick and you hear a cement mixer type noise, its an iCS buffer, at mid level this is an issue, at higher levels its another level of yomi, so you could argue the match in this case to be deeper just because the Ivy is on stick.

*And by consistent I mean at least 8/10 preferably 9/10 consistency at ANY time. This applies to more than JF's, it applies to CH confirmation on WSA and 33B for max damage, 2A hit confirm etc etc.

Imo, the hardest thing with Alpha is the CH 33B, 2143B:B/NH 33B bA_JF T hit confirm as this does make a drastic improvement to damage potential, though not many players actively do this in competition. Raziel is a good player to watch for this type of fast hit confirmation.

Yomi bruh, in SF4 this is how I play against Gen players:
QCF LK X N occassional fireball, no U2 for you, scary chinese man. :P

You're not hawaiian, you're not allowed to say bruh, or brah, ok bruh ?
screw SF and its never ending regurgitations
