A Quick Study of All Characters

Best Stances/Gimmicks #3 spot should be Lizardman. His crawling stance has a high attack that also dodges low, a mid that pushes back, his rolling low that can be spammed for a RO (mostly when he's facing away), a natural combo to get up again, and a parry that I believe has a larger window than most of the others.

I think Yun's frame data puts him as unsafe, not to mention his stance can't even move very well. It just seems like he is very easy to punish due to his unsafety. I play as him and i get punished on almost all blocks.

@Coth: You have to use his safer moves then.

Edit: As to best stance/gimmick: I think Siegfried belongs here. Stance shenanigans are what he's all about.

Which safe moves does he have? Anything I want to use with him gets punished on block, except CR.

Also, yes dancing like a ballerina with Sieg is where its at! :O

Check his frame data. Plenty of his moves that aren't punishable on block are good. 4K, jump K:K:K, 7_8_9 B, WS B, 6A+B, 11_77A, 22_88K, 66B+K. You can't keep attacking after them, but then this is Yun we're talking about, not Taki. Also, Yun has all of two moves (And one that's punishable by Amy) out of CR that aren't punishable on block.

Edit: Also, Nighty has one of the worst SG games around. Slow, unsafe, and he doesn't do much to it anyway.

i wouldnt say NM was good for pressure... you need good SG game for good pressure and also something decent to maintain the offensive... something like speed / good stance or mixups / or good working auto GI's

off the top of my head i would say people like ami, soph and raph have really really good pressure games. people say raph is steppable but i don;t think its that easy.

Voldo is pretty good at pressure too, IMHO. He's got the relative safety, plenty of mixups, and an excellent SG game.

I agree with the raph thing. He either throws horizontals out enough to prevent stepping, or his verticals just barely hit me off axis. They need to make stepping work better with faster verticals. Im not saying verticals shouldnt have some tracking, but making most of them track is ridiculous. If anything only the UB verticals should track, that would teach everyone either train yourself to attack quickly, or get owned.

It kinda feels like tekken where most of the fighting falls in a line, rather than inside of a sphere.

Raph's issue is his poor frames on block, including most of his stuff from prep. His horizontals aren't as bad as people make them out to be, but once you block something, he's at a heavy disadvantage. That's not the case with Sophie and Amy, since they're among the fastest characters in the game, and have a higher amount of safe moves.

Today I got hit by three attacks from cass, with no real special looking qualities, they werent GB or UB. I lost half my health, and it wasnt even a combo. It was three single, different attacks, within like 10 seconds, and poof half of my life was gone. Also, Cass is one of the faster characters in the game.

I still haven't found the balance of the game. I know it is more balanced than 3, but it seems like there are still alot of balance issues.

Also, if you play online, I have found that taki has a three hit string, that is pretty much only interruptible by 1K. Unless your using a "faster" character. I use Sieg mostly, and I found that if you block the string, you can only hit them with a 1K before they start the string again.

raph still has frametraps like 3 > prep A on guard. sophie doesn't have much in the way of frametraps on guard as far as I know

Not real frame traps per se (Except for 22_88, but that move is crap), but she's safer, and gives people an incentive to not just block. Raph has prep KK, but that only goes so far. His transition into VE is useful, though.

Edit: Neither Sophie nor Raph are really good at constant pressure, IMHO.

Do you know what Cassy hit you with? Also, we don't take online into account when judging characters.

Sorry, I dont have any offline comp. It was 3 different attacks, no combo, half my life gone within 10 counts. No charge, no flame, just normal looking attacks
