BattleField 3

Crap I got distracted and posted early oh well. Got a question any of you know about modding/hacking? I ask this cause I played a dude today already forgot his name on xbl whatever. Every time this guy killed me I never saw him not once (No he's not that good). Also when it would show the killcam it would show a wall and a dead body. So I look at his equipment it shows the killcam. He got a PKP LMG I'm like huh ok thats interesting cause this dude is level 1 with a PKP which btw is the third LMG, so no matter how good you are its impossible literally to have that gun at 1.

This happened the same way 3-4 times in a row I also look at his K/D this man is 20/2 his team moves up to the next set of points. I try and defuse A again same thing happens don't see him he kills me I see the kill cam same thing yet again dead body in the wall now level 2 still with a PKP wtf.

Mind you I don't use the term hack/mod loosely. I'm not one of those whiney people who anger easily and whine when someone is better and or got the better of me at one point in time. Thats just silly hell this is actually the first time. I accuse someone of something like that. I also thought it could be lag but that just doesnt seem likely.

didnt need it in the last game?!?!?????..............................................................You were one of 'them'!

So yeah I'm just gonna blatantly kill the joke and ask. What? Cause I don't get it but hey at least I can see your being sarcastic go me.

Had a weird glitch when playing yesterday. When in the underground sections (at the second and thrid bases) I had a graphical glitch where grey triangles would show up and block my aiming. They moved around the screen and changed shape as I moved so it wasn't a horrific problem it just was really annoying and got me killed a few times.

Shit you wanna talk glitches my goodness I'm starting to encounter more and more everytime I play. I would name all them off but I just had way to many. So I'll mention the funny one well to me and the most interesting one. So I spaw by squad mate all of a sudden I start flying hit my head on the invisible ceiling then fall to my death. I'm like "Oh? How wonderful" turns out I'm actually just assuming. One of my squad mates was standing the missiles that go off randomly in the first area. They kinda resemble SAM Turrets don't know the proper name for them. Well anyway a squad mate was standing near one of them and I just so happened to spawn on it so fun times.

Well spotting was VERY important in BF2 and it was very frustrating having team members who didn't acknowledge the importance of basics like this. Even if the tag doesn't benefit you directly it did a few things:
  • Warn allies of campers
  • Tell allies you've engaged a target to help assist or finish them off if you die
  • Give allies an idea of enemy location to plan a flank or avoid areas
  • Provide insight on where enemies are coming from to root out a spawn anchor
  • Help recon determine a good location to drop a mortar strike
  • Expose targets hiding in buildings so people can start throwing grenades and missiles at the structure.
  • etc...
Knowing where the enemy is can be incredibly important for not just you, but your teammates. Target EVERYTHING.

I love BF3 for its team interaction, but that could have a double edge effect with players who didn't help properly. Players that camped and didn't advance the line (yes snipers are fine...but they need to move up and aide the line, not hit random targets like most do) were a wasted slot. They would also limit your chance of a good respawn. Players that don't target leave you with false sense of security that areas in front of them appear safe. Players that all group together and not cover angles give false sense of security to team and can lead to devastating flanks and general in effectiveness by over saturating only one angle...as well of fucking up the shot of others. Etc... I love BF teams, but I REALLY hope they add a good system for fairly balancing how they assign teams and maybe even squads. It sucks being on an incompetent team that is vastly out played by the other. Can't tell you how many times I've flanked like 10 people for a free rush and people just stared at it till i got killed and the enemy retook the area uncontested. Or simply had an ally get in my way and not help cover me, giving me false sense of security that I was covered by the angle he should've been covering.

In BF even if you suck at getting kills and maybe get killed a lot yourself, you can still be a good team mate by doing things to help your team be efficient. This is really what separates it from COD. In COD the only real advantage of a team is to thin the number of hostiles and provide an idea of where an enemy likely is or isnt by what spaces they occupy and UAVs...beyond that you're a one man army and team work isnt too big an issue.

Oh right of course yes I'm one of those. A greedy selfish guy thats my prey and no one else I need to level up and screw everyone else me me me.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo WRY?!?!?!?!

lol naw, my statement wasn't directed at you in it's entirety as it expanded well beyond that. It was just general grief i get playing BF. Love the game, but I can get mad at teammates real quick. Your comment on it not seeming useful in BC2 just kinda caught my eye tho.

Yeah I'm to lazy to see what I said but I'm pretty sure I said for the most part I didn't need it. Not that I didn't use it at all. I was confident I could kill someone in 2. In BF3 every weapon kicks like mad so its takes time to get used to. Which I'm finally getting used to got foregrip on everything.

Caspian Border unlocked for BETA!!!!!!!

I find toggling firemodes to be VERY helpful for fighting kick. I have my thumb click on my mouse set for it. When I use the ARs I generally will have a 3.4-4x scope and use single shot from afar and full auto once i get near more cramped areas.

Yeah I checked and it's PC only. I was in there last night for a brief second and it was beautiful. It had tons of vehicle variety and the scale felt amazing. This will really change the opinions of a lot of people bitter about the Metro map.

Sadly though it was a mess of pricks fighting for the jets, including one determined player who used a recon spawn setter to repeatedly arrive at it after dieing in it...asshole. After 15 failed attempts to get my own, 2 seconds into flight i accidentally hit the exit vehicle button, scramble to get back in it, got hit by a landing jet and ramped off an exploded airplane wing...but then luckily took off somehow from it...for 2 seconds...then the game closes and all Caspian servers disappear. Needless to say I was very upset having bought a joystick and wanting to test it (but decided to return it after realizing my mouse settings were off the entire time playing BF:BC2 and the mouse was far more accurate).

I'll be on it tonight, but yeah...I really feel that this is the map that brings out the best in this game. Also IGN posted an article saying there's a lot of tweeks to the final build such as lower gun damage.

I don't like the sound of lower gun damage that is ridiculous seriously. The guns are in no way to powerful especially with suppressors. Suppressors make the guns extremely weak they will be even more useless than they are now. I can see certain guns being reduced in damage but not all if they do all fuck that.

Yeah single shot is great but foregrip does get rid of horizontal drift as it says its does. So from there its usually about holding down when firing constantly to keep it in place.

Yeah not sure how much. I think i've noticed lower gun damage through out the Beta so maybe we're already experiencing it and the UMP and a few other things haven't been tweaked yet. I know my 249 hits like a magnum on crack at point blank...so dunno.

And yeah forgrip+single shot can give you great control at a distance. I'm very glad we have lots of scopes too. I Always wanted to use the 4x in BFBC2, but the display never agreed with me. I prefer a dot, circle, or a cross hair over arrows and bars.

Yeah I agree clearly those weapons need to be toned down but not every single weapon. Speaking of bars and what not I was using a scope on the PKP and the damn lines disappeared so annoying. So I was looking through glass literally and thats it and since I'm still new I still need the lines. If I use the same attachment constantly I don't need lines or a dot in the center cause I use it so much it becomes muscle memory. I prefer the same too since I have used all scopes possible, so I'm thinking of putting holographic on everything. Except for snipers of course well maybe still put one on the SVD.

I'm trying to find good uses for the infared sight but dear God and Jesus the 1x zoom just makes it so painful to use. Also got really annoyed when I found out that the straight pull bolt option for snipers doesn't work in the beta.

So jets and helis...hard as balls to fly. I bought a stick to try out in BC2, and realized keyboard and mouse was superior so I returned it...but in BF3 both heli and jet seem like they REALLY need stick, heli less so. For those that don't want to do stick I heavily suggest doing keyboard ONLY for jet. The issue with jet being you constantly need to tilt and pull up to turn, which means constantly lifting and pulling the mouse. with key board you can hold keys and be more successful. Still hard to aim, but i fly a lot smoother.

But heli feel different, so I might do stick on them too. Also when they get damaged, they're very hard to control

In BC2 I could fly the heli decently, but in this new game they are feel much harder to handle. I think its a good thing, despite the fact stick may have an unfair advantage. It makes it so they cant be abused and you must wield a lot of skill to make them effective

2 more days!!!! I can't wait. About the only part of the game I'm not looking forward two is this little unfortunate phenomenon-

Unfortunately I cant play it first day I took a bet on this game. I bet a friend I can 1,000 BF3 sooner than him , so I gotta wait til he gets it. Which will not be day 1 buy for him, but that works for me anyway. My 360 is being repaired, so it works out for me. This friend didn't even like the beta that much so he's gonna lose this bet. He doesn't know what he's getting into. With all the multiplayer achievements this game will definitely take more than 2 weeks or maybe not.

I'm on PC. IFBPwnstar

BTW after testing FlightStick/Pad/Keyboard/Key+mouse, I've determined pad is best for flying. Currently I use mouse keyboard (obv), but when I hop in a jet I whip out an xBox pad and it's been great. Love the game but I'm frustrated by the game's key config. So many bad defaults and you have to go thru tons of them to unassign things you don't want and my thumb clicks on my mouse wont register, yet they did in the Beta
