Bayonetta: "Yo Dante, take five!"

I have this EXACT complaint with the entire God of War franchise, as well as Street Fighter 4. I've heard arguments from tons of people, and I think its personal preference

While I can't completely agree on the GoW complaint, especially after playing III but, this is the biggest thing that steered me away from SFIV. Well that... and the bore factor.

Bayonetta's art and soundtrack (yuck) don't thrill me at all, but otherwise once you get a little far in the game (the third level or so) it became the best action game I've ever played. I completely understand hating the way it looks though (and I agree on that opening scene. I rolled my eyes the entire time. Devil May Cry was ridiculous but never STUPID. Thankfully the game cleans up later, but it doesn't sound like you're sticking around.)

I appreciate that someone agrees with my complaints about the art and soundtrack. Apparently, it's just more 'stylish.' I'm sorry, but in my experience... more flashing colors, stars, sonic rings, death traps that appear out of nowhere, a girl flipping around 2 blocks away, and GUNSSSSSS does not equal style.

Oh well.

To me, Bayonetta's art style and soundtrack fit so well because they DON'T fit at all.

The game itself is full of dichotomous elements it's no wonder it's hated as much as it's loved.

Bayonetta's either the most fit or the ugliest game character in video gaming, for example.

I haven't gotten a chance to play through III as much as I would like (2 hours or so at a friend's over the course of a couple days) but to me it still has the same feel. Like I said, I think it comes down to preference because some people liked the DMC4 style where attacks really "dig" into the enemies. If anything, Bayonetta definitely feels more slippery than DMC4, but I don't feel like it's as slippery as the GoW series.

Now, SF4 is so god damn slippery they just included a character covered in oil. Yeah.

And the art grew on me in some places while pissing me off in others. Also, this game gets really lazy in one of the last levels where, despite it being hard as all hell, they give you a boss rush complete with previously defeated bosses. That would be fine, but they had already introduced mini-boss battles against easier versions of the bosses even EARLIER in the game. Fucking lazy.

And the soundtrack may appeal to some people, but for an action game I'd much rather have DMC's guitar solos or GoW's epic score than whatever the hell is going on in Bayonetta. Not my style at all.

I had no idea what you guys meant by attacking air until you described playing DMC. I know exactly what you mean, as I remember saying something about that when you fight Poseidon.

What are the chances there will be a Bayonetta 2?

The Story of the first one is "meh", but I love the fighting mechanics.

I hope there will be a 2nd one comming out soon

Fust finished the game, and I thought it was awesome. The battle system was fun, the music was awesome, and I enjoyed the story. Thumbs up from me.
