FFFFFFFFFFFINE VILARCANDY. They do look much better now that I can see the detailing a bit easier. It's hard to pinpoint in battle, you know? Anyway they're pretty good but uh...
hope Chobek come by and see that, i followed the rules, yes i did !!!
The challenge is this....Their culture lived and died without history to remember it.
Mayans don't count silly Villy :P

I like the Atlanteans from both NeclordX and rdmunhoz; @rdmunhoz, is your next tribe air or fire themed? And I really like the kitten with Gatsu's island-buster ....

@Vilarcane...... for shame sir, I was totally sold on your Mayan set until the ritual priest Tupakan pranced through Leixia's CE... and now I picture him giving a mischeivious wink after removing a still-beating heart......once seen, it cannot be unseen.....XD

Nah, bro. The Mayans both lived and died. And I don't really remember shit about them, other than them getting owned by some Europeans, so Vil completely checks out. Besides, we've been researching and speculating over Atlanteans for over a millennium now. I was actually gonna post my Egyptian CaS in this thread, but, much to my dismay, I recently discovered that they're somehow still alive, squabbling over freedom, women's rights, and other silly things. No worries though, I'm sure the debt crisis will finish the job by the end of the week, and then I'll post them here.

Technically speaking the thread was about making your own culture that died "without history to remember it", and since history remembers the Mayans. Well.

But my post was actually a tongue-in-cheek one, aimed at a long running theme of Vil never being one for the rules in competition threads, so don't take it too seriously. As far as I'm aware the Mayans and the Atlanteans are at least somewhat in-keeping with the idea of the thread, so I'd never really try and discriminate.

In fact, I wouldn't discriminate anyway - It's for Chobek to say what would and wouldn't be acceptable. But as I said, my original post was a jokey one, so don't worry yourself so much hmm?

Of course, if there are any Ancient Egyptians left nowadays, why, that sure would be surprising. ;}P

I was actually going for a little humor, but somehow I came across as sarcastic, which I most definitely was not. I really thought the absurdity of my arguments and my statement on Egypt would tip it off. Q_Q No one understands me!!! Q_Q (that was a joke)

Lol, glad you loved them, since i am very proud of them, especially of things people don't mention like the elongated ears and complex face tattoo (face paint + tatoo mix) that give them their distinct personalities, along with the work on patterns and colors of course.
Glad Gatsu noticed the hat and necklace work...

About Leix stance, very good interpretation, i had doubts about this one too, but there were definitely gay mayan priest ya know ;o)
i removed the pic for your own mental sanity ;o)

And yes, Le Bello is just teasing me, we do that a lot, but thanks for defending me, and let Chobek express his own views about them.

Then I shalt swap thine top hat for a dunce hat, fore clearly I read it in a more argumentative manner. For shame on me sir, and indeed well done. :D

Now i know my Mayans are dead on topic, i would like to produce some better in-game shots than before, a bit lackluster for my standards would dear Le Bello tease me with ;o)

As always, i try to innovate in the presentation dept, and i hope you'll like the pics and text (tried my best to make it readable)...

Know that the last pic is a hint of my last lost culture entry i am currently working on...i hope i can finish and post this last one before Cho&Bek peek a boo again...

First a little trick of the trade i don't think you know about (that sun sticker i used to create the gorillas works pretty good on the lost mayan culture as well...

I will need to make a close-up shot of that particular part of the necklace sometimes, cause i improved it with a little gimmick that makes it 100% maya accurate ;o)

Now that concludes my journey into mayan territory, hope you enjoyed it as much as i did, those 3 CAS ended
up as absolute keepers for me, that is how good they work in game.

I might even consider alternate styles for Quezacoatl since Pyrrha's stances are kinda boring, but i liked the weapon set and did not want to copy paste Tupakan (though leix and xiba for instance would work well with her as well)...

Thanks.

Just trying to recreate mayan hand-woven patterns like this, not doable with gradient pattern (only 3 colors), possibly doable with multistriped pattern tho, might give it a try...but it works like a charm in-game ;o)

For the feathered snakes part of the ornament, was trying to recreate this, with the round part and the feathers attached to the head...the "true" Quezacoatl

quetzalcoatlpu9.jpg

First time i do that much research for a CAS, soon i'll be renamed Quinion the Archeologist or GEF the walking library ;o)

Tupakan, Yucatec and Balam are also inspired by true mayan headdresses...there are so many different ones i could do ten different CAS with headdress variations only...

:) so many pretty patterns .... nice !!!!
Will be back soon (weekend ) to hopefully post and comment!

DO THEM ALL. If you have the time.

at least there is one more for you, there is something i think noone has ever done before on this one...
Purse your eyes and look at the golden face mask on the last picture below, and after a few seconds you should see the true face of the Machu Pichu...

(btw, i know Machu Picchu is a famous inca city and not the name of a mayan king), but it sounds cool hence and emoved the double "c" ;o)
