Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

OK now a question to the vets or folks who can play almost everyday this game(i cant, cause of work etc):
How can i improve at best my character knowledge at best?
Play with them?Goin through the movelist?Remember all those combos/set ups/ strings?
What are you doing if a character brings some problems against you?
first thing i do is go to training and learn the best mixups and setup into CB combos. after that when i feel i know the character's movelist well i go onto frame data training using that info box that you can put up at the bottom of the screen. once you get that down then it's a matter of adjusting to the opponent you're facing.

I personally find that the more characters you use, the harder it is for the other person to consistently when because they constantly have to change their game plan. (this only works if you as a player is good with those multiple characters and have decent knowledge about the game. if you are overall bad then this probably won't make a difference). learning good launch/throw mixups and opportunities is probably the biggest key to winning. never been able to stun lock a good player for long.

that's all i got for now. i'm supposed to be putting up a quick guide to Pai soon. all i got is an iPhone recorder so i'm going to need someone hold my camera for me while i do everything.

Looking forward to the Pai guide!

And yes, in general it's handy to use different characters in DOA. In vf5fs I only used shun. In doa5 I have used Gen fu, kokoro, elliot, Pai, helena and leifang so far.

Also, it is important to know what unholdable set Ups your character has in order to bypass the stun game

Well, I have the Dr. Dogg guide so I usually turn to the page of the opponent's character and check out their recommended moves along with the frame data on their fastest moves. In the training mode, I turn on the Move Details and I namely look at the P, K, 6P, 6K and their 1P or 2P and any notable low attacks like Kokoro's 2H+KK or Kasumi's 1K. That is for close range engagements. I also try to note of any unsafe string enders.

For mid-range engagements, I now look at what moves an opponent might use at mid range. Usually I see mid kicks or advancing mid or high punches. Then the last section is long-range attacks. This is where sidestepping can become handy because almost all long-range attacks are linear. Long range attacks are essentially almost always either mid-kicks or high kicks (there are exceptions such as Brad's 236P or Kasumi's 66H+K).

To complement this, the best way to develop character knowledge is to befriend players of specific characters and play them as much as possible until you've seen everything.

Nobody I encounter is mixing up their follow ups to the force tech. I usually assume mid punch hold and it hasn't failed me yet.
you talking about Helena's or people in general. i met two Helena's in the same room that did a solid force tech mixup game. i do force techs with Pai but it only works on a person by person basis.

Helena's. Maybe i just havent gotten a 'good' helena yet? And for Pai I love her force techs when people fall for them but occasionally I get those people that tech before and leave me at disadvantage. Pai's low damage output is starting to turn me off, too. What do you follow up with after her holds?

Oh! And thx for all who responded to my question, gonna give some credits/comments later to that ;)

In DOA5 online, every string your opponent does is a natural combo and advantage on guard, every string you do is interruptable and -80 on guard.

Especially if your opponent's character is Helena.

Oh, and apparently this was posted on the official website. Wish Namco would do something like this for SC5: http://teamninja-studio.com/doa5/summit/

Since it's Tecmo Koei and not just Tecmo any more, I wouldn't put your hopes up too high for this. Their business decisions are based primarily on playing darts blindfolded and mysterious voodoo rituals, since the merger they've managed to make even worse decisions. They'll probably end up doing nothing or listening to the scrubbiest players the most, based on how passionate they are about their own opinions -.-

Greasing the squeaky wheel is definitely the closest thing to a strategy they have -.-

Why not, I mean this same team did listen to what the competitive players were telling them during the development of DOA5. Heck, I believe Wah was even allowed into TN headquarters when he was in Japan.

I refuse to believe that anyone in any sort of power at Tecmo Koei has the capacity for rational thought. That belief is not changing any time soon :)

they've listened to some advice already. why would they say they are going to then not do it all the sudden? and i think you're getting tecmo koei (Team Ninja specifically since they are in charge of the game) confused with namco bandai (aka Team Soul). except Team Soul have no rational thought behind what they do. stupid nerfs here, ridiculous buffs there, and not listening to the fans that clearly asked for a more enjoyable one player experience and story.
