I'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed how great the music is. Especially that theme that comes on in the beginning of the fighter chronicle vids. It's so dramatic and inspires hype, like something huge is about to go down. Like you said, "cinematic" is the best word i can think of to describe it.
 
The music is sweet. I am loving "the ends of the earth" soundtrack the most... (But I often like to put on Dub Step or drum and Bass when playing DOA)
 
Hey I tried DoA for the very first time tonight with DoA 4 and that was amazing. I watch some DoA 5 videos and I'm so getting this game next week! Kasumi 4 life

I knew the cast for a long time and always though they were awesome. Some friend of mine used to force me playing
DoA : Extreme Beach Volley for an entire summer. I got to meet the girls there.

The unanimous opinion of Helena on FreeStepDodge is that she's ass tier. But I enjoy her enough to where I'm willing to put forth that extra effort. I always fall in love with a low tier character, I swear.

The "unanimous" opinion of Helena is completely based off what DrDogg has said about her. He's the only one posting who has had time with the final game(he's writing the guide) or even just Helena. She hasn't been playable in any of the builds shown so far so no one besides DrDogg really knows anything about her. I'm going to be playing around with Helena to build my own opinion of how she plays.

Really? Before the game is out? If another Viola thing occurs I will be laughing my ass off just like I did when that happened.

I don't think any of what he said was said in ignorance. If he's competent enough to write the guide of the game I think he can at least somewhat decide where characters fall on the tier list.

I just hope they get it right the first time. Balance patches tend to be messy and ineffective.
 
50 (randomly generated number there) people trying shit out on the game doesn't equal to what can be found from 300,000+ people trying shit out on a game.

I'm not doubting that the guy knows his stuff but one oversight can make or break a character.

Also true. Maybe he knows exactly what he's talking about. Maybe he overlooked some crazy awesome tech. Either way i'm pretty unconcerned. Helena is just too much fun to play!(: LESS THAN A WEEK! AHHHH!
 
The problem with Helena, based on what Bryan tried, is that she's doesn't have as many opportunities for guaranteed (i.e. uncounterable) damage compared to the rest of the cast.

As for Rig, don't be surprised if he does end up being really good. Based on what people who've tested the game are saying, the new characters are second only to the VF characters in terms of viability.

Personally, wouldn't be surprised if the initial tier list comes out as:

-VF characters
-new characters
-grapplers
-ninjas
-everyone else

Anyway, Gen Fu were such a underrated character in the other DOA games. I hope someone pick him, at least as secondary character, this time. I'm also happy to see Lei-Fang isn't up there, since I'm gonna main her and I don't like the idea behind top-tier characters.

Tell that to the people who actually play the game competitively.

While it may have seem like you said in 4 (mostly because combos were pointless), 5 is shaping up to be about guaranteed damage. As Bryan has stated, he sees certain characters as being weaker than the rest of the cast because they have less ways to get guaranteed damage.
