Defecting SC players

First of all I really don’t want to start the fire, so please post carefully; this is kind of a delicate subject so it can go very wrong. I expect respect between us.
Why I’m starting this thread? For two reasons I want to know who deflected from this game and why! and also I want to send the message to Namco and PS, look all of these players love your saga but they had to move to other games cause you showed no support.

With the release of TTT2, P4A and the upcoming release of DOA5 many devoted SC fans are leaving the game, some still play SCV and just casually other FG games, some preferred to get back and play SCIV and some others totally dropped SCV and now are dedicating their time to these other games.

As for myself the last time I played SCV was like a month ago or so, since then I have been playing P4A and loving it, but why I dropped the game I loved so much? Because again PS abandon us with an unbalanced full of glitches and infinites game.

It sadden me to see the saga in such a state and PS not giving one F about it or perhaps they are and is Namco the one that couldn’t care less about SC, and now with TTT2 out there, much more less.

Not a bad topic.(As long as no flame wars start. Ill be watching this one close for awhile XD). For my input on the matter I find I can never leave SC forever. I always say to myself "Ah sweet new BlazBlue game! Sorry SC you out!" But then a few months later I am like "Well. It doesn't last like SC does. THIS IS BORING." . My main reason for coming back is the CaS/Unique fighting styles like Zwei/Algol in a 3d game. So basically I am saying that I am a temporary defecting sc player. SC is easy to leave once something new comes out but hard to stay away from.
 
True that, I always come back, tho I feel this time with SCV is gonna be different for me there is literally nothing on the game that I miss, but I do love the community and if I ever come back to play SCV is because of that, also the reason I keep coming back to 8wr XD I love it in here :D

I still play this game locally, but then again not really. I only get a few games in when I drive down to GU every now and then. It's so hard to get people to pick this game up while getting casuals to pick up Street Fighter was effortless. I have no idea why this is. And after getting a taste for what offline is like, I'd rather play other games than deal with the average shitty online attitude.

The situation on 8wayrun kind of hurts me too. Jaxel has implemented some really stupid shit (30 second ads to watch an 8 second video? Then I don't have the option to adjust the quality or to use other youtube functionality, are you fucking kidding me?). Then there's that the more likeable voices from 8wr just started to disappear after a while. I suppose the influx of new members just drowned them out. HRD used to make really funny and friendly posts all the time. He was also tons of fun to fight online, but his more recent post history has been pretty negative.

I don't disrespect the newer members; I've read your posts; I know your names and personalities, but there's just so little to come back for. Rarely does someone from the newer crowd say something insightful enough to impress me, but I don't see the enthusiasm I love to see in newer players either.

CaS also seems to be a much more popular section of the site than the Soul Arenas. "Time to check 8wayrun for any cool threads. Nope just CaS shit." I wish there was a way to filter that stuff out from my recent posts feed so I could ignore it. It's not even like I hate CaS.

Then there is the absolute lack of support and communication from the devs. It might be Namco's policy not to speak to the community unless under certain strict conditions, and it might be for good reason internally, but it's still annoying.
 
You realize that the FGC goes through FG's like water right? Some people drop SC to play another FG cause tournament entrants aren't as much as they used to be, people not going to tourneys, money and/or support from the community and/or the developers. Just a couple of things matter with it. As for me I always like SC but I don't wanna restrict myself to just SC seriously and play other FG's to make myself stronger as a FG player overall.
 
Generally speaking, I play the Soul Calibur series more than any other game. Sure I'll take breaks(new games and games of other interest), but I'm a SC addict. I can't rest once I daydream about it. Be it for casual dress-up or hardcore stuff, I love to play this game. I love it even more when there's a community that loves it just as much as I.


What I dislike is how it won't get fixed, but I'm still hoping for Super SCV or something. Other than that, I'm so conceited on how much I can love this game despite it's flaws. Because everytime I fight someone who is better than me yet is a whiner, I have enough confidence to endure it and improve unlike them.

"I'm leaving because blah blah blah." Something like this makes me go >3 to them. I have no ill will, I'm just a true fan who stays loyal to this series. I don't need to tell anyone on my 8facebook status how I feel about this game lol.

SC series in short is like me doing martial arts in a dojo....except with controllers. I know some 8wayrunners share my passion, but certain individuals are quite spoiled and really need to do more than just talking.
 
That was fun to read XD. Yeah there are several excuses to leave a game and despite all the horrendous flaws of this SC that's not the reason I'm droppping it, the reason is the non existent support and like LC said there is just NO! communication from the developers make me feel like a fool for trusting at the begining that this time it was going to be different.
 
There are quite a few oversights in this topic.

1. There are a lot of fighting games out. I doubt if companies expect people to play their games for years to come.
2. SC has always had a small competitive community.
3. The competitive community is further reduced in number by the fact that the majority of players here (and fighting games in general) are casual players. Many people here have never been to a tournament, watched one, and/or have no interest in going to a tournament.
4. It is expensive to travel already and there are too many tournaments (or were). Most people have not been to locals let alone a major. Most of the people who travel for the game are the people who've been travelling and many can't afford across the country every month or two.
5. 4 is further complicated by the fact that many SC players are afraid of competing and/or have low expectations of themselves. A lot of the community that can be competitive chooses not to.
6. These are problems that I've seen play out twice now. The SC/8wr community is very good at making excuses as to why they don't support their game.
7. Lots of the people who have 'defected' will probably 'defect' and/or not support whatever new game they're playing.
8. Once again, you have to realize the majority of players of this game are casuals. When people use this argument of people not playing the game, they use the opinions 'wannabe' competitive community of 8wr (the ones who haven't supported the game but bitch and talk about how they won't support the game anymore) to supplement an argument that can only be made from a casual standpoint.

Seriously, I didn't believe SU before...but I see a lot of the problems he saw a long time ago with this community. Guess I don't care so much anymore. In my opinion, Namco/PS gave a great deal more support than most fighting game communities get, especially in some of the things they did to support SOLELY THE COMPETITIVE COMMUNITY. They met this community halfway and only a few people even thought about trying to pick up some slack.

Whatever you think, these are my true feelings on the matter.

EDIT: I wanted to add on just so that people understand a point that they may have glanced over. A lot of the people most vocal in their hatred of the game have not traveled or may have traveled to one event. Not only this but those same people like to talk about how they're picking up such and such a game and it's so much better. This is perfectly fine with me...except the part that those people CONTINUE TO NOT TRAVEL and support whatever game is so fuckin' good. In the end, all they're doing is bitching, being annoying, and doing what they've always done (which is not supporting the FGC). This was part of the reason for one of my recent status messages on the 8wr community.

Don't worry man. There are still players like me (and you?) that love the game and won't stop playing it for petty reasons.
Also, the forums don't reflect the game's status and if it's dying or not. If you personally love this game, just keep that enthusiasm and play with other people that share it and ignore the haters or the people that dropped the game.

Offline tourneys are still swarming everywhere and remember SCIV was supposedly dead when people were still gathering to play it til' january 2012, in other words until SCV came out.
 
LP, I can't talk for all the people that already stopped playing SCV, but as for me you are wrong.

1. I am a competitive player.
2. I created a website, a community, invested a lot of time in this game and sponsored tournaments with my own money, I'm far from a casual scrub that complains and does nothing about it.
3. I travelled to Europe for SCIV as I felt the community was stronger there than in America.

Yet I'm defecting and I have already stated my reason and is not related to game itself. Like I said everyone has different reasons to leave a daring saga and I would like to know those reasons if you are not defecting and just want to let us know what you think is happening I guess is also valid but don't generalize.

I didn't aim that post at anyone other than the people who fit the bill.

But, for your question, I've stated before, during 4 even, that the only reason I honestly travel is to see the other players play, watch other people play, help others with some of their costs, chill out, and possibly do well in a tournament (I stopped caring about that when people actually started thinking that I'm halfway decent in the game, honestly. I don't have anything to prove by competing anymore). I think SC is the only fighting game I would ever travel solely for (I'd play in DoA, BB, and possibly GG if it got an update though). A mix of a love for the community, the series, the game, and Viola would compel me to travel. As long as other people keep traveling for the game and I have the means to do so, so will I.
 
I lost some of my faith with Namco and I don't have as much motivation in playing SC5; in fact I haven't played SC5 for a long time.

But here I await for a peripheral that may renew my faith though not completely.

Well, I never decided to stop playing SCV based a list of reasons I had. My motivation just sort of gradually drifted away. I used to come on here and get really pumped to play but that's been happening less and less and less.

Perhaps I've overstated how much that matters to me though. Everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do, and for me the largest influencing factor is what my local scene wants to play.

There's a major coming up in my area soon. I'm definitely going to go, out of practice or not. I'm also going so I can get bodied in Persona lol.
